Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Meningioma is a tumor composed of cells of neoplastic meningothelial (arachnoidal) cells that a rise from the arachnoid membrane and the layer of the arachnoid villi associated with intradural venous sinuses and surrounding tissue. Meningiomas tumors is one of the central nervous system (CNS) the most commonly found (the second sequence) and generally grow slowly. Approximately 60-95% activity of telomerase (hTERT ) found on meningiomas and can induces VEGF . The aim of this study is to determine the role of hTERT and VEGF in meningiomas grading . Methods : This study is conducted using analytic observasional cross sectional method and had been analyzed with  unpaired categorical analysis of the 60 cases of meningioma (46 cases grade I, 7 cases grade II, and7 cases grade III). The sample were obtained the archive of Anatomical Pathology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University/Dr. Hasan Sadikin Hospital Result : The result of this study showed: 44 cases (96%) grade I meningiomas showed positive hTERT imunoexpression weak to strong, 2 cases(4%) non-reactive and VEGF imunoexpression showed strong positive 12 cases (26%), 24 cases(52%) were moderate positive and 10 cases (22%) weak positive. 7 cases (100%) grade II showed a strong positive hTERT imunoexpression and 5 cases (71%) showed a strong positive VEGF imunoexpression, 2 cases (29%) were moderate positive. 6 cases (86%) grade III showed strong positive hTERT imunoexpression, 1 case (14%) were moderate positive and 7 cases(100%) showed a strong positive VEGF imunoexpression. Statistical analysis revealed imunoexpression VEGF showed stronger positivity with p- value = 0.02 (< 0.05) compared to the hTERT imunoexpression with p-value =  0.73 (> 0.05). Conclusion : More affecting angiogenesis gradations meningiomas, seen by the presence of VEGF higher imunoexpression on higher gradations. hTERT Imunoexpression cannot determine of the meningiomas histopathological grading.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background : Formula feeding in infants aged 0-6 months are very influential on the frequency of occurrence of diarrhea. Based on Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) 2002-2003 known that infants aged less than 4 and 6 months has been given milk other than breast feeding, each for by 12.8% and 8.4%. In Indonesia, diarrhea is one of the highest causes of mortality and morbidity on the child, especially under the age of 5 years. From Jambi City Health Department in 2012 known data is the incidence of diarrhea in children <1 year as much as 1403 people spread in 20 health centers. At the Puskesmas Kenali Besar in 2012, patients with diarrhea in children <1 year of 110 people. Methods : This study is using a survey research with cross sectional analytic. Subject of research is baby age of 0-6 months of which taken from urban village working area of Puskesmas Kenali Besar. The number of samples a total of 123 people. Data of this research was analyzed by test chi square. Results : From 123 sample of this research, there are 48 (39%) infants with granting milk formula and 75 (61.0%) infants with ASI exclusive. Infants who never diarrhœa a total of 78 people ( 63.4 % ) while infants who never experienced diarrhœa 45 people ( 36.6 % ). Based on the results of the test chi square obtained meaningful relations between the infants with granting milk formula with an occurrence diarrhœa in infants age 0-6 months in the working area Puskesmas Kenali Besar. Conclusion : An infant that is consuming milk formulæ risk having exposed diarrhœa of 6,250 times in infants who were given breast-fed exclusive Keywords : Diarrhea, Milk Formula

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background : Radial artery occlusion is one of the transradial vascular complications post cardiac catheterization. To minimize the effect of vascular problem related to local compression by using compression methods after cardiac catheterization would be decrease vascular complication such as radial artery occlusion (RAO). This research was conducted to determine the comparison between the Barbeau test method and the clinical observation method carried out by the researcher in order to examine the patency of radial artery during compression, post procedure cardiac catheterization at the Angiography Coroner Unit and the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Hasan Sadikin Bandung General Hospital, Indonesia. Methods : This research was a quantitative research using the comparative study design. The subjects of this research were 20 patients who took cardiac catheterization procedure using radial artery access site at the Angiography Coroner Unit and checked in pairs. The measurement was conducted gradually in three hours using compression band, namely the Stepty-P. The statistical test, specifically the McNemar test, was used to analyze the comparasion between the Barbeau test method and the clinical observation method, meanwhile the single variable data were analyzed by the distribution frequency. Result : According to the research result, it depicts that the distribution frequency of subjects who suffer from radial artery blood flow during compression period based on Barbeau Test at the first fifteen minutes were 7 patients (35%), the number of patients declined negligibly after 3 hours to 5 patients (25%), whereas the result from the clinical observation methods  was 1 patient (5%) at the first fifteen minutes, it then raise marginally after 3 hours to 2 patients (10%).  The statistical result shows that there wsere a significant difference in radial artery evaluation during compression period between two methods, in which at the first fifteen minutes (p=0,035) and the first thirty minutes (p=0,035), respectively, soon after the use of compression band, while overall, the statistical test result shows that there were no significant difference in comparison of two methods within the 45 minutes and 3 hours of compression periods (p>0.05). Conclusion : It is suggested to the nurse in the intensive care unit of cardiology to use the Barbeau Test method in assessing the patency of radial artery during compression period,  post procedure transradial cardiac catheterization.   Keywords : Barbeau test, clinical observation, radial artery, patency, cardiac catheterization.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Cervical cancer is still the one of major public health problem in the world whether an effective screening programs using the Papanicolaou test to detect precancerous lesions has reduced the number of cases of cervical cancer in the developed countries but not in developing countries. The sensitivity and specificity of the Pap smear depends on observer’s skills to recognize and classify variations of abnormal cells. Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) caused cervical cancer has been proved,  In some study have found HPV DNA in 99.7 % of all cervical carcinomas. HPV has been found to be more than 100 genotypes , which are divided into high-risk HPV and low-risk HPV The development of early diagnosis for the detection of HPV infection still has been a problem, where the cytology and colposcopy to identify lesions at an advanced stage, therefore the molecular engineering approach seems to be more successful in early diagnosing cervical cancer. This technique of molecular HPV DNA sequences are Southern Blot Hybridization, Hybrid Capture II Assay, Polymerase Chain Reaction, and PCR - Reverse Line Blot. The Accuracy of molecular diagnostic techniques is required to provide further information for patient how the management and maintenance of cervical cancer.   Keywords: Cervical cancer, HPV, screening, molecular techniques
