Jurnal Studi Agama dan Masyarakat (JSAM) is an academic journal, publishing two issues per year (June and December). JSAM is published by Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat of Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Palangka Raya, Indonesia. This journal seeks to provide a venue for sharing new empirical research and theoretical analysis of intersections between religion and societies. JSAM publishes original works that contribute to scientific discussion of the relationship between Islam and societies. The journal’s primary focus is on contemporary issues of Islam and culture, politics, economics, law, communication, and history within Indonesian contexts such as local wisdom, multiculturalism and pluralism. However, works on the issues of world religions and global societies are welcome.

Abstract

 The focus of this study originated from last years evaluation data , low ability students in SD Negeri 7 Pelangsian in memorizing short surahs that is classically only 35 % of the 26 students who were able to complete. This is due to the low ability of teachers to implement the method .This study uses classroom action research ( PTK ) is the research that implement recycling cycle in any research that includes studies of planning , implementation , observation and reflection . The results of this study turned out to be the effective application of the method drill on the competence memorize short verses are very precise . It can be seen the success rate of students in memorizing verses short , the application of methods drill there are few records to note that prior to the implementation of the exercise beforehand really conditioned the class , divide students into several parts group , and understanding the character of the students in the training process

Abstract

Inculcated early education for children unfamiliar with religious activities, one of them through educational institutions such as Raudhatul RA. RA. Daruttaqwa district. Sabangau city of Palangkaraya a religious educational institution for young children to group B via the planting of religious values and development patterns of religious planting a curriculum development in RA. Daruttaqwa district. Sabangau. The study used a qualitative approach with descriptive research approach. The research findings illustrate: First, the material guidance of Islam early childhood group B in RA Daruttaqwa District of Sabangau city of Palangkaraya, guided by the Curriculum 2003 is the standard early childhood education levels of TK / RA, in outline form of education aqidah, moral education / behavior / attitude and education of worship and good deeds. Second, coaching strategies Islam early childhood group B in RA Daruttaqwa District of Sabangau city of Palangkaraya, is the strategy of learning through play, stories and singing are given integrated Islamic education every capability or activity, by combining education aqidah, and ethics / behavior with basic capabilities, the theme and sub themes through activities / techniques / methods in RA Daruttaqwa

Abstract

This article is a continued understanding of some thoughts delivered by the Islamic study experts. Actually, Islamic study orientation is still floating and it does not have a clear goal. Some parts of Islamic study is  model or a similar effort done by  orientalists in studying Islam, and in line with the vision and the mission starting from false conclusion about Islam. Therefore, Islamic study experts in the earlier awakening of Islam such as  Al-banna, al-maududi, Ismail Raji al Faruqi, Ziauddin sardar, and Muhammad Naquib al-Attas have offered various thoughts in implementing the framework of Islamic study in line with the vision and the mission of Islam so that their mindset becomes the basis for development of Islamic study.

Abstract

In Catholic High School St. Peter Canisius Palangka Raya, researchers noticed something interesting. Researchers looked learners mingling, playing, joking, eating, and conduct joint activities. They look like forget where they came from, what color their skin, how the social status of their families. It is also the issue of religion, as long as they do not interfere with other religions, they still carry out activities together with not differentiate each other. Similarly, the teachers and staff at the school, they hang out and work without any sense of distinction. Formulation of the problem in this paper is how the Headmaster of Catholic High School St. Peter Canisius Palangka Raya in multicultural perspective, how the implementation of multicultural education at Catholic High School St. Peter Canisius Palangka Raya and any supporting aspects in the implementation of multicultural education at Catholic High School St. Peter Canisius Palangka Raya.This research is kind of field research. Including in descriptive research with case study strategy. Type of this case study is a "single case study" for investigators to dig up information from one case experienced by one informant. This research was conducted at the Catholic High School St. Peter Canisius Palangka Raya. The data was collected by interview, observation and documentation.Result of this research found that the head of the Catholic High School St. Peter Canisius Palangka Raya basically has done the elements in accordance with the multicultural perspectives. Researchers looked at four aspects, those are style of leadership, supervision, interaction and communication and managerial. Then implementation of multicultural education in school is also going very well by existing the components, those are the principal, teachers, staff and administration staff, and students. For supporting the aspects of the implementation of multicultural education is considered from several aspects, namely; facilities and infrastructure, curriculum, atmosphere/environment, as well as extracurricular. Most of these aspects still less than the maximum.

Abstract

The study examines the verbal communication especially it is related to listening in the Qur’an. The problems of the study are: 1) What are terms that are related to listening? 2) What are the Qur’anic concepts related to effective listening? The study is pure library research with tafsir maudhu’i  so that main source of data is the Qur’an, mu’jam Li alfafadz al-qur’an, tafsir books and other books related to verbal communication.  In analyzing the data, the content analysis is used. The results of the study indicate that: Qur’anic terms about listening are not only something to do with physical perception to grasp the sound but also from all the verses, the majority is related to the ability to comprehend and obey to messages being delivered. In the Qur’an, listening effective implies that there should be concrete action to messages being accepted because good listeners tend to be more related to obedience. In order to listen effectively, it is not only with wish and desire to listen to the content of the message but the most important thing is the effort to understand and practice the messages.

Abstract

This study focuses on graphic media to explain subjects SKI focusing first issue any graphic media used by teachers in the subjects in class VI MIN SKI Sungai Cabang Barat; secondly whether the message content has a graphics media contain elements of organizing visual message content properly; The third is the message content may facilitate the understanding of the graphic media coverage students understand the lesson content. This study aims to determine the graphic media teachers can use in class VI SKI MIN Sungai Cabang Barat, and the content of the message the media has an element of media in organizing the visual content of the message well and know the contents of the message easier to understand the subject matter coverage.After doing research on the application of the graphic media the results are as follows: first, teachers use graphic media SKI is adapted from the material presented and the subject teachers ability to implement such a process chart, charts, descriptions, and images / photos. The second message SKI graphic media in learning is not fully contained graphic elements in the use of visual messages properly. The third the content of the message in the graphic media SKI learning it can facilitate students in understanding the scope, the content and subject matter provided it is justified by the students of class VI MIN Sungai Cabang Barat

Abstract

This study aimed to determine and describe the tutoring for children who have difficulty in the classroom 2 SDN 1 Patai Eastern District of Cempaga Kotawaringin . Subjects in this study were teachers who teach in grade 2 SDN 1 Patai Eastern District of Cempaga Kotawaringin . The results of this study indicate that ; a) The problems of childrens learning Grade 2 SDN 1 Patai is when learning begins the child does not have a receptive attitude to learn , there is no motivation for learning , the childs activity is very low or the child is not actively engaged in learning activities , children who have difficulty in learning is not out using appropriate time in learning , and student learning outcomes low
