Abstract

This study aimed to know the form of trauma recovery for child survivors after the 2011 T?hoku Tsunami, in the picture book (e hon) entitled Minna de Utau be! by Mari Mitsuoka. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis. Theories used in this research are Sigmund Freud's theory of Literature Psychology and Resilience theory by Masten (2014). The analysis results showed that child characters in e hon are described as having characteristics of mild trauma that can recover quickly through appropriate trauma recovery support. Those types of recovery support were affected by protective factors that interconnect and complement each other, such as the characteristics of child survivors, family support, and psychological support activities in the school and community environment. The effectiveness of appropriate recovery aid enhances children's resilience in the trauma recovery process, so they can recover and thrive after experiencing a natural disaster.

Abstract

Since the 19th century in Karangasem there has been interaction between various ethnic groups (Balinese, Sasak, Bugis, and Javanese). These social interactions lead to acculturation in several elements of culture, such as in elements of language, and cultural arts. The Sasak, Javanese, Bugis people migrated to Karangasem with various backgrounds and reasons, bringing with them their respective cultures. Gradually the cultural elements brought were accepted and processed into the Balinese Hindu culture, which is a native of Karangasem. Social interactions and acculturation that occur especially with Sasak Muslims cannot be separated from the existence of political power relations. Political power relations are also based on patron-client relationships, namely the relationship or link between the King of Karangasem as a leader and the people he leads. In the past, patron-client relationships were based on a sense of Utun (attention, loyalty), Tresna (loyalty and devotion (mutual respect and respect), mutual benefit, giving and receiving). Such leadership patterns are usually based on the teachings of Hindu philosophy, such as in the teachings of Asta Brata. This study is supported by the theory of structural functionalism, and the theory of hegemony from Gramsci. According to the theory of hegemony, mastering is not just dominating, but also with moral and intellectual leadership. The method used in this writing is through a literature review and the results of observations (observations).

Abstract

Communication is a complex linguistics phenomenon. People use various types of utterances to deliver the intended meaning. This article explains the application of Gricean conversational implicature in the daily exchange of The Verneuil. Besides, this study employs the descriptive-qualitative method. As language usage coheres with context, accordingly, this needs to describe the language phenomenon performed by the interactants along with the speech events in which The Verneuil’s dialogue takes place. Thus, utterances are the type of data analyzed. In particular, the article only scopes the circumcision and family lunch scene where they are conflicting with each other because of their different beliefs. Despite the presence of cultural boundaries, the interactants adhere to Grice’s maxims in casual communication. However, maxims’ infringements happen when they get the cultural inferences involved. Those are triggered by the 5 different cultures which affect their linguistics competencies. Hence, they fail to fulfill the maxim.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the existence of the Muslim Community in Kusamba Village. Their existence had a significant role in the Gelgel Kingdom, Klungkung Kingdom and other Balinese Kingdoms until they were given land around the Kusamba beach to take care of their Muslim community. The people of Kampung Kusamba who had helped in the war against colonialism in Klungkung earned them respect as Nyama Slam (Distant Brothers). The results of this study are how the existence of the Kusamba Village community can survive and maintain its existence due to the social interaction skills of the Kusamba Muslim community in social relations with the Balinese people so that it can be accepted. Using the existence theory of Jean Paul Sarte and the methodology of social history, this helps the author to reveal the life of the people of Kampung Kusamba with their own culture and blend with Balinese culture in Klungkung Regency.
