The General Biology lecture on bilingual classes conducted by giving the assignment of preparing a summary of biology topics and then be presented and discussed. The analysis of the initial ability of students in scientific writing skills and oral communication skills were still low. The low level of both skills were reflected on the meaning and development aspects of the summary that were still in the beginner category (28%) and develop category (56%). This research use software Ashampoo MyAutoplay, concept of sense systems in Class XI MAN 2 Model Makassar. This research was conducted using the integrated development model Plomp with Luther's development model. The subjects were students of class XI IPA4 MAN 2 Model Makassar. Techniques of data collection in this study there are three, namely validity, obtained through a validation by the validator; effectiveness, acquired through learning achievement and students' response to instructional media; practicality, obtained by evaluation  of  instrument by validator. The results showed that the average value of the total validity of the validator is 3.6. Media effectiveness obtained student’s learning achievement showed 91.9% and student responses showed 91.6% o. Practicality media obtained from assessment validator with the results validity 3.7.

Abstract

Abstract

This research aimed to described the student logical thinking skills and learning outcomes, analyze the relationship of both, and explain the contribution of logical thinking skills to the students learning outcomes in genetics. The subjects were 71 students from the Department of Biology Education, second semester of academic year 2014 / 2015. The research was conducted using descriptive and correlational design. Measurement of the student logical thinking, have done using Test of Logical Thinking (TOLT), while learning outcomes measured by cognitive test questions. The correlation between the both variables was analyzed by product moment correlation. The results showed that 54% of the students have the beginning of the formal category of logical thinking skill with an average value of 4.03. The data also showed that 45% of the students have to the low category of learning outcomes with an average value of 54.86. The correlation, r = 0.609 and a significance value of 6.372 indicates that there is a high correlation between the logical thinking skill with the students learning outcomes in genetics. The analysis also showed that the student logical thinking accounted for 42.35% of the student learning outcomes.
