Abstract

The purposes of this study are to know the direct effects of education and health on per capita income level and the indirect effect of health on per capita income level through its effect on education. A system of equations was formulated and was estimated using maximum likelihood estimation procedure. The results indicated that parameter estimates are not statistically significant at the 5 percent level of significance. However, those are theoritically sound, since the sign of coefficients in the variables is in line with existing theory. The efect of education on per capita income is positive and the indirect effect of health throuth its effect on education is also positive. The results of study suggest that the per capita income might be increased if education level of society increased through expansion of government budget on education, while health level of society should not be ignored eventhough it negates per capita income. Key Words: Health, Education, and per capita income.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between government expenditure and economic growth in each province on the island of Sumatra during the period 2007-2016 using panel data. The method used is a quantitative approach by applying the Granger Causality model. The findings of this study indicate that there are no two-way relationships from the 10 provinces in Sumatra. But there is a one-way relationship between government spending and economic growth, which is found in the Province of West Sumatra and Bengkulu Province. Whereas the other 8 provinces have no one-way and two-way causality relationship

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the influence of education level of head of family, number of dependents and asset of head of family on poverty in District of South Pagaralam and North Pagaralam. The data is used in this study are primary data obtained through research directly to the society in November 2016. The method used is a quantitative approach by applying multiple regression models. Based on the research and data processing using multiple regression analysis that education and asset of heads of family have a significant effect on poverty. Meanwhile, head of family number of dependents do not have a significant effect on poverty.

Abstract

Economic growth in Indonesia will have its own impact, both positive and vice versa. One of the negative impacts arising from this economic growth is environmental damage such as an increase in the amount of carbon dioxide emissions. The Indonesian economy itself is very dependent on energy consumption, which is still largely dominated by fossil fuels. This study aims to determine the impact of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and energy consumption on carbon dioxide emissions in Indonesia in the period 1985-2019. The data used are secondary data with annual quantitative type. The method used is multiple linear regression Ordinary Least Square (OLS). The conclusion from the results of this study is that GDP and energy consumption have a positive and significant effect on the level of carbon dioxide emissions.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze a few factors that influence the demand for breeder chicken in Sako Palembang. Income level, family number, the price of breeder chicken and price of fish are the independent variable and demand of breeder chicken as the dependent variable. Quantitative for analysis are with regression models. The result on regression model has improved that the independent variable significantly influencing the dependent variable. Keywords: Demand for breeder chicken, income level, family number, the price of breeder chicken, and price of fish.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to kow factors that affect growth rate of production of agricultural sector in South Sumatera province. It is assumed that total factor productivity, capital, and labor determine the growth rate of output of the sector. A Cobb-Douglas production function is used to determine those factors that may influence the growth rate of output of agricultural sector. The results indicate that total factor productivity has a positive dominant effect on growth rate of production of agricultural sector, while capital and labor have a negative effect. Therefore, it suggests that the growth rate could be raised if there is a reduction in the use of capital and labor. However care should be taken because agricultural sector play an important role in absorbing labor force in South Sumatera province. Key Words: Total Factor Productivity, Economic Growth, Agricultural sector

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the effects of rice production, rice stock, and road & brige condition on rate of inflation in South Sumatera province. The data used in this study are aggregative secondary data from year 2000 to year 2007, and are utilized to estimate a multiple regression model  in the form of double-logaritm. The results of estimation show that rice production, rice stock, and road & brige condition neither totally nor partially influence the rate of inflation in South Sumatera significantly. However, the results show that they are theoretically consistent with and support the expectation. It suggests that one who wants to do the same kind of further research, she or he should use disaggregative data to allow more variation in the data set in order to obtain  sound results statistically. Key Words: Inflation, rice production, rice stock, and road & bridge condition.

Abstract

This study aim to comparing accuracy in the analysis of qualitative response data especially to analyze the probability of car ownership households by using LPM models , GMM,  Probit and Logit Models. Primary data is taken from households in the Kelurahan Pahlawan Kota Palembang. The result of the coefficients and constants model by using OLS and GMM estimation  is the same, only slightly different in the standard error, where the GMM standard error is slightly smaller than the OLS standard errors, but of probability gives the same conclusion. Where as estimated by using Maximum Likelihood method such as  probit and logit models better than OLS and GMM estimate. In the case of car ownership results estimation methods of logit model give coefficient greater than the coefficient probit model. But the determination of the coefficient by McFadden ( R2MCF ) probit models is higher than R2MCF logit model. Based from Akaike information criterion (AIC) and Schward Criterion (SC) indicators,  probit model is better than the logit model. Thus, in the result of the model, probit model is better than the logit model. If income rises, as the prediction Probit models, households will have a probability buying a new car is rapid, otherwise if income drops, then the probability of the household will be quickly decided not to buy a car. In the logit model if income increases, then probability of buying car a smaller because it does not immediately decide to buy a car , so if revenues fall,  does not mean it will not buy the car, but did delay for the foreseeable future . Excellence both probit and logit models, can be predicted of the probability additional effects (marginal effect). However, marginal  effects on the model probit is higher than the logit model. Keywords: Probability Linier Model, General Method of Moment, Maximum Likelihood- Probit, and Logit.
