Abstract

This research explores the effectiveness of Interactive Digital Module Physics (IDMP) for additional teaching materials in vector concepts. The IDMP which was developed according to the ADDIE model and its implementation uses the Interactive Lecture Demonstration (ILD) learning model. A total of 65 participants were students enrolled in a Basic Physics course at a university in a special area in the central district of Indonesia. The instrument used to validate the IDMP uses a scale of 1-5 and has a scoring rubric and processing effectiveness data using technique Cohen's D formula. The intervention group was given training assignments in using ILD-based IDMPs while the control group was given ILD-based assignments only. The results of this study obtained data that the intervention group was significantly better than the control group, found there was no significant increase. Cohen's D score in the intervention group had a large impact on the control group of 1.17 with a 95% confidence interval. Furthermore, they get learning experience by providing feedback that the course material using ILD-based IDMP can challenge students to learn independently.

Abstract

Many factors cause mathematics problems in elementary school students. Starting from learning, learning approaches, to questions related to mathematics. This research aims to analyze and describe students' attitudes towards mathematics, accelerated learning cycles, and mathematics questions. This research was conducted on fifth grade at one of the state elementary schools in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. Data collection in this study used a Likert scale model by analyzing student responses through questionnaires on subject scores and neutral scores on teacher and student activity observation sheet data. Based on the results of research conducted on students, it shows that elementary school students show a positive attitude towards mathematics, learning using the Accelerated Learning Cycle (ALC) approach and mathematics questions. As for the findings obtained from the field, researchers suggest that teachers can use the ALC approach in the mathematics learning process, and get used to giving mathematical problems related to everyday life which can improve students' thinking abilities. The implication of this research is that the habituation of students’ positive attitudes towards mathematics, the ALC approach and mathematics questions can improve students' learning achievement in mathematics at school.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of STEM-EDP on students' concept mastery in thermal energy and heat transfer topic. Employing a quasi-experimental design, the study incorporates pretest and posttest across both an experiment class and a control class. The Experimental class using the STEM-EDP while control class using the conventional as the learning approach. The study encompasses 35 seventh-grade students for each class from one of Junior High School in Bandung, Indonesia. The instruments include an objective test that spans cognitive levels from C1 to C5 based on the Bloom Taxonomy. The result shows that there are significant differences between experimental and control class in both concept mastery. This is evident from the p-values of 0.03 in independent t-test results for concept mastery. In terms of improvement, the N-Gain of experiment class for concept mastery stands at 0.22, characterizing a low improvement. While, the N-gain of control class is 0.08, also characterizing as a low improvement. In light of these outcomes, it is reasonable to consider STEM-EDP as a valuable pedagogical approach within Junior High School in fostering a deeper understanding of scientific concepts especially in thermal energy and heat transfer topic.
