Abstract

The aim of this dedication is that it is expected that the community learning grade 4 elementary schools around the area will no longer find it difficult to understand mathematics after the introduction of learning that links mathematics with everyday life (Realistic Mathematics). This dedication uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The props used in this service are traditional snacks in the form of triangles and tempeh. Dedication was carried out for 4 meetings with 20 students. The results of the evaluation of the implementation of community service: 1) The community learns at the elementary school level (SD) get new knowledge and learning experiences in mathematics by using Realistic Mathematics (MR). 2) Learning using Realistic Mathematics (MR) increases students' interest and curiosity about mathematics. 3) By using Realistic Mathematics (MR) learning, students' understanding of mathematics becomes easier, so mathematics is no longer considered difficult. 4) The learning process becomes more colorful and meaningful with the use of Realistic Mathematics (MR) learning. 5) People learn to feel mathematics is a pleasant lesson seen from their enthusiasm when the learning process is ongoing.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine student thinking styles in solving mathematical problems in integer count operations material through the Realistic Mathematical Approach (PMRI) assisted by colored paper media. This research method is a qualitative method. Data collection instruments using test, observation and documentation. Learning at the primary school level tends to be textbook oriented and conventional so that it requires student learning innovation that can facilitate mathematics learning. The realistic mathematics approach (PMRI) is one of the innovations that connect student real world with learning mathematics in solving mathematical problems. In the world of education, the characteristics of students' thinking styles in learning are not taken into account, which should be considered in learning. Peaget's development theory states that elementary school students fall into the category of concrete operations stages so that researchers use colored paper media to assist students in understanding the operations of addition and subtraction of integers.

Abstract

This research is a research development that aims to produce mathematics teaching materials based on Lampungnese etnomatematics. The research method consists of (1) data collection; (2) the design of teaching materials; (3) development of teaching materials; (4) validation I of teaching materials; (5) revision I of the validation results; (6) validation II; (7) revision II; (8) product trials; (9) final revision and production of teaching materials. Sampling was conducted on grade IV students at SDN 3 Kemiling Permai. The results of the validation of teaching materials from Lampung mathematicians and cultural experts gave an average score of 3.86 which was categorized as good or feasible, while the validation of teaching materials by the mathematics teacher gave an average score of 3.95 which was categorized as good or decent. In small class trials obtained an average score of student response questionnaire of 3.72 which is categorized as good or feasible. Then a large class trial obtained an average score of student response questionnaire of 3.89 which was categorized as good or feasible. The conclusion of this study is the lampungnese etnomatematics-based mathematics teaching materials are categorized as good and suitable for use in learning mathematics in elementary schools. Abstract

Abstract:Symbolic representation is a dominating ability in geometry. The purpose of this study was to determine the written responses of students when representing geometric objects in mathematical equations. The research used a qualitative descriptive method which was carried out on IAIN Metro students. The test instrument used is in the form of questions to measure the ability of students' symbolic representation with indicators presenting visual representations to mathematical equations or expressions representation. The test instrument is in the form of a circle image along with tangents and polar lines which then must be described by students based on what they see in the picture. Based on the research results, it was obtained three types of student symbolic representation mistakes when solving analytic geometry problemsAbstrak:Representasi simbolik merupakan kemampuan yang penting dikuasai dalam geometri. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kesalahan mahasiswa ketika merepresentasi objek geometri ke dalam persamaan matematika. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif yang dilakukan pada mahasiswa IAIN Metro. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa soal untuk mengukur kemampuan representasi simbolik mahasiswa dengan indikator menyajikan representasi visual ke representasi persamaan atau ekspresi matematis. Instrumen tes berupa gambar lingkaran beserta garis singgung dan garis kutubnya yang kemudian harus dideskripsikan oleh mahasiswa berdasarkan apa yang mereka lihat pada gambar tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tiga jenis kesalahan mahasiswa yang sering terjadi dalam melakukan representasi simbolik objek geometri, yaitu tidak memahami konsep, kesalahan dalam membaca data yang terdapat pada gambar, serta kesalahan melakukan operasi matematika.

Abstract

Etnomatematika sebenarnya telah diterapkan pada kehidupan masyarakat, namun masih banyak yang belum menyadari hal tersebut. Salah satunya ialah pada kompleks Candi Prambanan yang terdiri dari 3 halaman dengan pola memusat dimana pada halaman utama terdapat candi induk yaitu Candi Trimurti. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi etnomatematika Tiga Candi Trimurti pada kompleks Candi Prambanan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan ialah observasi dan dokumentasi serta analisis data dilakukan dengan pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan dari data yang telah didapatkan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah etnomatematika yang ada pada tiga Candi Trimurti terdiri dari konsep geometri ruang, kesebangunan, geometri bidang, geometri fraktal, garis lurus dan konsep geometri transformasi (translasi). Penelitian ini dapat digunakan sebagai rancangan untuk pembelajaran matematika realistik di kampus dan di sekolah pada umumnya.
