Abstract

The application of the concept of Total Quality Management (TQM) is expected to be able to assist companies in responding to consumer needs in the future. This research aims to see the mediating effect of Total Quality Management on Entrepreneurial Orientation with Firm Performance. To support this theory, this study takes data from the furniture company PT Kayan Jaya Tanjung, Surabaya. This study was analyzed using the partial least square method by using 78 workers at PT Kayan Jaya Tanjung with a minimum level of manager. Respondents were drawn based on two branch factories, namely PT Kayan Jaya Tanjung I and PT Kayan Jaya Tanjung II. The results of this study indicate that the company can gather its human resources (TQM) to formulate a proactive strategy to anticipate future customer demand (EO) so that companies can maintain the quality of their products (firm performance). This study shows that applying the concept of TQM with a good entrepreneurial orientation will form a sustainable strategy to achieve a competitive advantage for company performance. Keywords: competitive advantage, entrepreneurial orientation, furniture, total quality management, firm performance

Abstract

The research aimed to determine factors affecting online donation intention of Generation Y, particularly in donation-based crowdfunding in Indonesia. Applying a quantitative method, the research used a combination of Theory of Planned Behavior (Attitude, Subjective Norms, Perceived Behavioral Control), Social Presence Theory, and S-O-R Theory (Website Quality, Transaction Convenience, Perceived Credibility). The research used purposive sampling with total of 118  respondents. The result of the analysis suggests that millennials’ intention to donate is significantly affected by the  perceived credibility of the crowdfunding platform. This is mainly due to online transaction, hence the donors are concerned about whether their donation is going to be distributed properly. Subsequently, the perceived credibility of crowdfunding platform is significantly affected by social presence, website quality, and transaction convenience, which support previous research related to Social Presence Theory and S-O-R Theory. Meanwhile, attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control have no significant impact on intention to donate, which may be due to several issues such as trust and security issues considering the donation is conducted through online. The crowdfunding platforms and fundraisers in Indonesia are expected to have guidelines about important aspects that may affect individual’s intention to donate in crowdfunding platform.

Abstract

Along with the rampant investment trends among millennials, questions arise regarding whether there are differences in the characteristics of investment intention between males and females. This study uses independent samples t-test to try to answer those questions, using risk aversion and locus of control as predictors of investment intention. Questionnaires were distributed to Universitas Ciputra’s students in management study program who have participated in investment webinars and therefore have knowledge about investment. 91 samples were collected using purposive sampling. The findings indicate that females are more risk averse and tend to have external LOC, therefore they are less likely to invest compared to males. Furthermore, risk aversion will be more dominant in males who have external LOC, while risk aversion will be very dominant for females who have internal LOC. These findings conclude that there is significant difference in the characteristics of investment intention between males and females.

Abstract

Abstract

Social media has become an effective marketing tool, including donation-based crowdfunding platforms, to reach potential donors. The research aimed to analyze the effectiveness of social media promotion in affecting the online donation intention of millennial generations. With the S-O-R theory, the research used variables like content likeability (S), social media attributes (S), social media engagement (O), perceived credibility (O), and intention to donate (R). Then, quantitative measures were used by distributing questionnaires to the selected sample, and 152 responses were collected. The data were analyzed using SEM. The results show that intention to donate is indeed affected by social media engagement and perceived credibility. On the other hand, perceived credibility is affected by both content likeability and social media attributes. However, the results find that social media engagement is only affected by content likeability and is not influenced by social media attributes. The distinctive finding can be due to the different behavior shown by social media users toward fundraising platforms, as they only want to donate and rarely engage in the fundraiser’s social media. The research calls for further investigation using multidimensional constructs to evaluate the drivers of intention to donate. Alternatively, further research can also be conducted to analyze the behavioral differences between millennials and other generations.

Abstract

The success of a digital platform can be seen from how many users visit the platform in one month. Users will visit digital platforms due to various factors, such as an attractive and easy-to-navigate user interface, satisfying digital service platforms, effectiveness in finding information, ease of payment, delivery of various goods, as well as platform security in storing data. The more users who visit digital platform will affect the level of product purchases. This research was conducted to examine the effect of the user interface on the Shopee digital platform in Indonesia on customer shopping enjoyment which is influenced by gender and mediation by the flow experience variable. Information Foraging Theory was chosen as the scalpel in this research because it is considered important to be considered as a priority for digital platforms in improving performance on their platforms. The research method used is a quantitative method and a purposive sampling method which is processed using the SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions) application for Shopee users in Indonesia. The number of samples targeted in this study were 600 respondents who came from active students and alumni from UI, ITB, UGM, Unair, and ITS who often use the Shopee digital platform as a platform for online purchases.
