Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study to describe the politeness strategies of Brown and Levinson in the Q&A talk show and describe the relevance of politeness-language strategies towards learning Indonesian at the Middle School level. The theory used to solve the problem in this study is the theory of Brown and Levinson. While the approach used is descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques namely documentation techniques. The results of this study indicate that the forms of Brown and Levinson's politeness strategy that occurred in the Q & A talk show in August 2018 consisted of Brown and Levinson's first politeness strategy, namely without strategies found that included speech without strategy. The second strategy of brown politeness and Levinson's positive politeness strategy is found to pay attention to the opponent's speech, exaggerate attention, agreement, and sympathy, intensify the opponent's attention by dramatizing facts, intensify using group identity markers, request approval with general topics or repeat part or all, avoiding disagreement by pretending to agree, using jokes, expressing understanding of the wishes of speakers, giving offers or promises, showing optimism, involving speakers in activities, giving questions asking for approval, giving gifts. Where negative politeness strategies are found to be pessimistic, minimize coercion, and apologize. Finally, the Off Record strategy was found which was included in the strategy. The relevance of the results of the study can be applied in learning Indonesian in junior high school class IX 3.9-4.10.

Abstract

Dalam interaksi instruksional, seorang dosen dituntut mampu membangun harmoni di kelas sehingga terbangun suasana kelas yang kondusif sehingga tujuan pembelajaran dapat tercapai. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bercerita sebagai realisasi strategi kesantunan positif Brown dan Levinson dalam interaksi instruksional di kelas. Subjek penelitian ini adalah enam orang dosen Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana Salatiga. Data penelitian berupa ujaran dosen dalam perkuliahan.  Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan metode simak dengan teknik rekam dan wawancara mendalam. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik deskriptif mengikuti model alir Miles dan Huberman. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data ditemukan cerita yang digunakan meliputi cerita tentang diri dosen, cerita tentang mahasiswa, cerita tentang pengalaman dosen, dan cerita tentang tokoh/sikap tokoh. Selain berfungsi membangun kedekatan hubungan dengan interaktan, strategi bercerita juga berfungsi untuk menanamkan nilai karakter dan untuk memotivasi mahasiswa.

Abstract

Purpose: The objectives of implementing community service include providing insight to teachers about best practice writing and providing best practice writing training. Method: The method used is field observation. The target in community service is junior-high school educators in Waru Sidoarjo district. These activities are carried out in the form of training activities, teaching, discussions, and research writing practices. Results: The training that has been carried out on middle-high school educators, namely (a) educators respond well to training in the PPM program, (b) educators have the motivation to improve in making scientific papers, (c) variety of scientific language is a common material in Indonesian language lessons so that educators are active in participating in training, (d) the teachers have a fairly good understanding in writing scientific papers, and (e) the educators respond well to aspects of the implementation of activities, aspects of the presenters, and aspects as a whole. Then, the final results show that from 44 participants, quantitatively that 30 participants have finished writing a best practice writing report, and only 14 participants still needed improvement. Conclusions: Through community service, teachers are able to make research through best practice. Although, there are some teachers who need revision related to the research content.

Abstract

Wacana dikatakan sebagai sebuah bentuk penggunaan bahasa. Penggunaan bahasa akan melibatkan siapa yang menggunakana bahasa, bagaimana menggunakannya, mengapa menggunakannya, dan kapan menggunakannya. Artikel ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian diperoleh dari hasil tulisan berupa kalimat pada SMS mahasiswa angkatan 2014 Unipa Surabaya. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis analisis wacana. Pengumpulan data dalam artikel ini dilakukan melalui metode dokumentasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini, yaitu digunakan metode pustaka dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan uraian di atas, metode dokumentasi yang dilakukan meliputi langkah-langkah dalam pengumpulan data sebagai berikut: 1) pengumpulan SMS dari mahasiswa, 2) pengumpulan SMS dari mahasiswa Fakulas Ekonomi angkatan 2014, 3) penyimpanan SMS-SMS yang akan dianalisis dalam penelitian, 4) pengkategorikan SMS yang ada ke dalam bentuk ilokusi yang mana, 5) pengetikan ulang SMS yang ditulis mahasiswa, 6) pengolahan data yang diperolah, 7) menyimpulkan hasil (masuk kategori ilokusi apa), 8) penghitungan prosentase tiap jenis ilokusi. Dari data di atas, bisa disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar (terbanyak) mahasiswa menggunakan tindak tutur (ilokusi) asertif atau representatif yaitu diantaranya tindak tutur asertif kategori mengakui, menuntut yaitu sebesar 35%, urutan kedua, sebagian besar mahasiswa menggunakan tindak tutur (ilokusi) direktif kategori meminta, memohon yaitu sebesar 27%, selanjutnya pada urutan ketiga mahasiswa cenderung menggunakan tindak tutur (ilokusi) komisif kategori menawarkan, memberikan masukan yaitu sebesar 19%, urutan keempat mahasiswa menggunakan tindak tutur (ilokusi) ekspresif kategori mengucapkan permintaan maaf, mengeluh yaitu sebesar 15%, dan yang terakhir, tindak tutur (ilokusi) yang digunakan oleh mahasiswa adalah deklaratif yaitu sebesar 4%. Penulisan artikel ini diharapkan dapat memberikan motivasi kepada peneliti lain untuk melakukan pengembangan penelitian yang sejenis dengan mengggunakan sumber data lain. Abstract

The research is purposed to explain and reveal (1) constituent structure of novel Sang Pemintpi and novel Ranah 3 Warna (2) The similarities and differences constituent structure of novel Sang Pemimpi and novel Ranah 3 Warna using intertextual approach (3) education value be contained of both of them. The research uses qualitative descriptive the methode used to find information sources and data in literature text, so that data are displayed in concepts or categories that are disable to account statistically. The collecting data technique that-is used: interactive technique contains of role observation and focus group discussion. Noninteractive technique contains of document writing and literature technique. In collecting data, the researcher releases that her position and her main role the collecting data tool (human instrument), so that the data kwality that are found dependend an the reseacher kwality. The data collection was analysed by analysis technique model interactive analysis with three steps of activity. (1) data reduction, (2) presenting data, and (3) conclusion or verification. The research finding of the researches, vised intertextual approach showing that the both of the novels (I) having constituent element that is unity, from the constituent eIernen that was found of novel Sang Pemimpi which published previously, it is hypograin. Whereas Ranah 3 Warna which publised finally called as the transformation. (2) constituent elements the both of the novels have similarities and differences. Those are: theme of the both of them is similar, it is the strunggling to face live and bellying of the dreams power, goal or hope: plot of the both of them has similarities, it is mixing plot (bundle of progressive plot and flasback plot); characthers and characteristics of the novels contain of protagonise character, antagonise character, main character and additional character; setting of the novels has different of setting place, primary setting of the novel Sang Pemimpi is in Manggar-Mangai, Bangka Belitong while novel Ranah 3 Warna is in IvIaninjau-Sumatra Barat, Bandung, and Canada; The point of view has differences, the novel Sang Pemimpi uses first point of view "Aku" and third point of view "Dia", while Ranah 3 Warna uses first point of view "Aku"; The dialogue of the novels has differences, in the novel Sang Pentimpi uses more Bahasa Indonesia-Melayu while Ranah 3 Warna uses more Bahasa Indonesia-IvIinang, Sundanese Language and Foreign Language (French, British, and Arabic). The story style structurally has differences, in the novel Sang Pemimpi has three style, those are interesting, comically,and metaforally, personification and hyperbol. While Rana!! 3 Warna uses denotative language motivation words so that the optimistic of the rider will be growth. (3) Education values in the novel Sang Pemimpi and Ranah 3 Warna are moral education, religius education, social education, cultural education , esthetic education and practice education

Abstract

This research is based on the backgaround of the occurrence of gender inequality in the characters in the Merried novel by Jane Maryam, which raises women’s resistance to gaining gender equality. This study aims to describe the farm of gender inequality and resistance in the Merried novel by Jane Maryam. The method in this study uses descriptive qualitative methods. From the analysis of the Merried novel by Jane Maryam conducted, the researchers found the five forms of injustice in the figure, namely in the form of marginalization, stereotyping, subordination, multiple workloads, and violence on the characters. For this form of injustice, there is a form of resistence that demands justice for him. There were three resistance carried out by the figures in Jane Maryam’s married novel, namely resistance to the stereotypes of mixed women, resistance to stereotypes of gender injustice, resistance to violence.

Abstract

This research is a research follow class by using the secound cycle that there is the first cycle and cycle II. On the cycle I and cycle II each cycle there four stage of the (1) planning, (2) implementation of action, (3) observations, and (4) reflection. Each cycle has two meetings in one week, namely the first meeting and the second meeting with the allocation 2 x 40 minutes of each meeting. Subject in research is learners class VIII G SMPN 24 Surabaya totaling 37 learners contained 16 learners men and 21 learners woman. This school is located in Jl. Kebraon Indah Permai Blok K/23 A Surabaya. Data collection techniques to use the observation and test, data analysis technique using the percentage of. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that using pictorial writing media on the meme on Instagram can improve the writing skills of class students VIII G SMPN 24 Surabaya. This can be seen from (1) population activity in the cycle I 84,61% on the cycle II 100%, (2) activity learners in cycle I 83,44% on the cycle II 90,20%, (3) the test results writing skills poerty in cycle I 56,73% one the cycle of II increased 83,70%.

Abstract

This research aim to improve speaking skills by using role playing learning models based on constructivism in the tenth grade science-1 students of MAN Sidoarjo. The type of this research use collaborative action research. The theory used in this research is the theory of speaking skills from Arsjad and Mukti. The technique of analyzing data used quantitative and qualitative descriptive. The results showed that role playing learning models based on constructivism can improve students speaking skills by the teachers deliver the learning objectives, explain the role playing activities, divide the students into small groups, motivating the students to understand the material, give the students facilities to play a role, and guiding the students to discuss evaluate the role playing activities. The results showed that the learning process is increased. The improvement can be seen from the enthusiasm of the students and the students more orderly during the learning activities. Speaking skills improvement showed from the average acquisition value, before using the method increased about 49,34% to 75,68% in the first cycle and increased to 80,90% in the second cycle.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is that students are able to write fantasy stories through the Think Talk Write learning model. The researcher applies a Think Talk Write learning model that is applied to students of class VII-F Wonoayu Sidoarjo 1 Junior High School. Researchers use the application of learning models, namely learning Think Talk Write. This learning model helps students to get maximum learning outcomes in groups so as to foster a sense of family and cooperation. Learning to write fantasy stories was chosen as the study material because it had not yet achieved the ability of students to write fantasy stories. This is based on learning outcomes that have not yet reached the expected KKM.

Abstract

The view of this mimetic approach is the assumption that poetry is an imitation of nature or depiction of the world and human life in the universe. the target studied is the extent to which poetry represents the real world or the universe and the possibility of intellectuality with other works. the relationship between reality and imagery in literature is a dialectical relationship. mimetic is not possible without creation, but creation is not possible without mimetics. doses and links between the two can differ in culture, time, literature, personality of the author, etc. but one without the other is impossible and lastly the combination of creation and mimetics is not only valid and true for literary writers. Giving meaning to literature is an endless journey between two realities and an imaginary world. Literary works that are released and reality lose something essential, that is, the involvement of the reader in existence as a human being. Literary readers who lose the power of imagination exclude things that are no less essential for humans, namely alternatives to existence that exist with all their deficiencies or simpler thanks to art, literature, especially humans can live in a combination of reality and dreams that are both for us as humans.
