Abstract

Librarians should have high sencitive to information overloaded. Deep understanding on Simulacrum Jean Baudrillard’s theory is needed to all. The ability to identify various of real and unreal information should be encouraged to librarians, as the result the end-users can access the needed information, not Simulacrum information. Some activities were taken by librarians in order to anticipate Simulacrum information, for instance, the way how they select any materials that being collected by the library, selecting digital content on its institution repository, literacy information program, dissemination information, etc.

Abstract

Abstrak : Jurnal merupakan referensi yang paling sering digunakan sebagai dasar dalam melakukan penelitian di perguruan tinggi, karena materi-materi yang dipublikasikan merupakan materi terkini dan merupakan hasil temuan atau hasil penelitian. Pada saat sekarang ini, munculnya jurnal elektronik mengakibatkan perpustakaan lebih memilih untuk berlangganan jurnal elektronik dibanding dengan media cetak. Hal ini dikarenakan jurnal elektronik lebih mudah diakses dibandingkan dengan jurnal cetak. UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Hasanuddin merupakan salah satu perpustakaan perguruan tinggi yang melanggan jurnal elektronik. Akan tetapi, jurnal elektronik yang dilanggan oleh UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Hasanuddin belum dimanfaatkan secara merata oleh mahasiswa khususnya Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Hasanuddin. Mahasiswa tidak memanfaatkan jurnal elektronik tersebut bukan dikarenakan mereka tidak membutuhkan jurnal elektronik yang telah dilanggan. Akan tetapi, sebahagian besar dari mahasiswa  belum mengetahui adanya jurnal elektronik yang telah dilanggan oleh UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Hasanuddin. Kata kunci : Jurnal elektronik, Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran UNHAS. Abstract :  Journal is one of information forms. It is often used as a primary source to research, mostly in higher education. Journal, as many defined it, consists of contemporary thoughts and knowledge, and research findings as well. Nowadays, electronic journals are considered as the main option for many higher institutions to subscribe compared to its printed form. It is due to the easiness and accessable usage. UPT Perpustakaan Hasanuddin (Hasanuddin University Library) is one of those academic libraries that has been subscribed electronic journals. Nevertheless, those electronic journals were lack of usage by degree medical students. The main reason was the lack of promotion or dissemination by the library. Abstract

Abstract : Currently, information age encourages every organization to implement technology for its own convenience. Library  as  one  of  the  professional  institutions,  develop  automation  systems  as  one  application  of  the technology.  The  using  of  Free  Open  Source  Software  (FOSS)  is  growing  in  IT  world  because  it  has  some advantages. Many organizations including the libraries choose to use FOSS. Senayan Library Management System or SLiMS is a web-based FOSS that  can be used to build the library automation system . SLiMS has many advantages for the library automation systems. SLiMS is widely used in various types of libraries both in  Indonesia  and  abroad.  It  has  a  great  power  in  the  SLiMS  community  that  formed  an  important  role  in almost every city in Indonesia.  Keywords : Free Open Source Software (FOSS),   Library automation system, Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS)Abstrak : Era informasi saat ini mendorong setiap organisasi untuk mengimplementasikan teknologi untuk berbagai kemudahan. Perpustakaan sebagai salah satu institusi profesional mengembangkan sistem otomasi sebagai salah satu penerapan teknologi tersebut. Free Open Source Software (FOSS) semakin semarak dan berkembang di dunia IT dikarenakan beberapa keuntungan yang dimilikinya, sehingga banyak organisasi termasuk perpustakaan memilih menggunakan FOSS tersebut. Senayan Library Management System atau SLiMS merupakan salah satu FOSS  berbasis web yang dapat digunakan untuk membangun sistem otomasi perpustakaan. SLiMS memiliki banyak kelebihan dibandingkan sistem otomasi perpustakaan lainnya. SLiMS banyak digunakan di berbagai jenis perpustakaan baik di Indonesia maupun di luar negeri. Abstract

The research attempts to explain Portal Union Catalog Server (UCS) based on Senayan Library Management Systems (SLiMS) in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Portal UCS becomes the media of technological information in developing cooperation among libraries in searching of the collection in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. This research principally aims to know the implementation of that portal, the obstacles it deals with, and the hope of SLiMS Community on Portal UCS Sulsellib. This research is basically included as a descriptive research using a qualitative approach. As regards to informants as the data sources of research, they are mainly some superintendents and users of Portal UCS Sulsellib. Some research shows that the implementation of Portal UCS Sulsellib can be very helpful for library users in accessing information of collection in various libraries in South Sulawesi because it is only through one door of the portal web of UCS Sulsellib. SLiMS community uses the technic of Waterfall model adapted from System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The stages of applying this portal are based on waterfall model that is planning, analysis, display design, promotion, implementation, and maintenance. The hope is that this research can extensively upgrade the performance of Portal UCS Sulsellib so that it can be very helpful to explore a collection of information to be more effective and efficient. Besides, it will be used as references to renew the union catalog system.

Abstract

The research aims to comprehend the knowledge and utilization of electronic journal (Proquest, Science Direct, EBSCOhost, dan Cab Direct) subscribed by library of Institut Pertanian Bogor that have been performed by students as reference source in thesis writing, and obstacles faced while looking for the information. The research applies descriptive research with quantitative approach. Based on the data acquired: (1) The students’ knowledge toward electronic journal subscribed is adequately high. 87,9% students realize existence of electronic journal service, 81,8% reference resource uses electronic media, and 49,5% utilizes electronic journal; (2) The electronic journal utilization level is 86,2% which utilizes electronic journal. Electronic journal utilization level as reference material is relatively high, because from 86,2% students which utilize electronic journal, 40% utilizes it 2-3 times in a month. 34,7% utilizes electronic journal with duration less than 2 hours, with downloading electronic journal collection searched, 34,7% uses 2 articles as reference material for thesis; (3) Obstacles in utilizing electronic journal are 52% caused by electronic journal collection mostly using English, and searched collection are not available. Although there are some difficulties, they keep utilize the electronic journal.

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the Instagram utilization and its obstacles as a media promotion of Pustakalana’s library in Bandung, West Java. The research uses qualitative approach. The informants of this research are Pustakalana’s Instagram administrator and Pustakalana’s coordinator, while data collection techniques consist of observation, interview, literature study, and documentation. Triangulation method is used to test data validity and credibility. Technical data analysis involves of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study indicate that Pustakalana’s library has been utilized the Instagram to promote its library, such as various activities and services growing children’s creativity and imagination, events and workshops for parents, photographs of popular and recommended book collection, quotes to motivate children to read, and the atmospheres of the library and bookstore which are convenient and exciting, and another library services information. Instagram of Pustakalana’s library is not only used for promoting its activities, but also for sharing information and communication by its followers in media. Instagram features are almost entirely utilized by the library on promotions and interactions in other social media. The promoted content in Instagram account contains all information that relate to the library. Nevertheless, they are obstacles emerge in Pustakalana’s Library such as the incompatibility between the number of followers with the number of likers who are obtained on each uploaded post, and the lack of human resources. Abstract

This article attempts to describe the efforts to increase the visibility of the website of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in webometrics ranking. Webometrics is a means to measure the progress of a university through its website. This article aims to find the right work steps in an effort to increase website visibility and also the birth of practical steps to lift webometrics rankings that can be used as guidelines by website managers at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The main data was obtained using Focus Group Discussion (FGD) techniques by presenting parties related to webometrics ranking, having knowledge of SEO practices, and having experience in web management. The findings indicate that there have been efforts to increase the quantity and quality of content with the establishment of the publication and documentation division. There are still various obstacles to be faced, such as content management that does not meet SEO principles, several pages and subdomains that are not maintained, are damaged, and even lost, causing bad backlinks. It is necessary to build a website that uses the multisite method which is very effective and efficient in integrating various website needs at UIN Jakarta. The need for various efforts to overcome these obstacles, such as the need for effective communication between web development teams, the need for SEO-friendly content writing training, and the importance of SOPs in optimizing web performance and getting maximum webometrics ranking.

Abstract

Z39.50 is an international standard client–server, application layer communications protocol for searching and retrieving information from a database over a TCP/IP computer network. The current study is focused on how the Z39.50 fiture at SLiMS being used by the FAH library staff. The purposes of the study are divided into two which are (1) to know library staf’s perception on the fiture, and (2) to know the difficulties faced by the staf to do copy cataloging from the Library of Congress server. The data was gathered through the library staf experiences and being qualitatively analysed. The study found that the library has been using Z39.50 protocol to copy cataloging English book collections from the Library of Congress server since 2015. Although it makes easier the library to catalog, but some fields need to be edited by the library staf

Abstract

This paper discusses the library building design at school library Madani Alauddin Pao-pao. Thelibrary building design is one of the aspect of library development that has the prominent role incarrying out and successing the library functions. A good library design has significant impactto increase users’ interest to visit and use the library services due to the the comfort of the studyenvironment. The purpose of the research ís to examine the library building design of PesantrenMadani Alauddin Pao-pao and to know whether the school library of Pesantren Madani Pao-pao hasfulfilled the National standard of school library (SNP 009:2011).
