Abstract

This research aims to describe the students’ learning motivation and the effect of a tandem on distance on their writing skill. This research applied the descriptive quantitative method with two instruments. To gather the data, the researcher used questionnaires about learning motivation, tandem, and writing skill and documentation. The sample of this research are the 62 students who took the course German at B2 Level. Based on the result it can be concluded, that the learning motivation of the students is relatively good. However, there are some learning motivation’s aspects, which were not fulfilled. Those are the lack of positive mindset about the language, confidence, feedbacks from the lecturers, and the application of the target language. It was found, that tandem can be a solution to those mentioned problems and increase the learning motivation. The students also learn the German’s culture and get used to communicate with native speakers.

Abstract

This article is the result of a research related to Asynchronous digital-based learning in speaking skill through instagram. This study aims to determine the transformation of Asynchronous digital-based learning and to analyze the students' speaking skill using the assessment rubric that has been designed. The data were collected through oral practice in the form of videos related to the theme Freizeitbeschäftigung / Hobby. Each student was asked to upload a 2-3 minute video and comment on two videos of other students. The results of this study indicated that the assessment rubric covered the fulfillment of tasks and pronunciation. All the given assignment points were fulfilled quite well, although there were six students who still made grammatical errors. The pronunciation ability of seven students was very good, while the other seven students were still influenced by Indonesian accent. Students' comments regarding other students’ videos were varied and positive. Students gave supportive comments to motivate each other in doing their work and they did not have any difficulties in using instagram. Keywords: Asynchronous, German language learning, instagram, speaking skill

Abstract

This article is an evaluation study that aims to evaluate curriculum documents by describing learning outcome’s (LO) suitability contained in the curriculum 2016 of German Department with LO contained in Indonesia National Qualification Framework (INQF), National Standard of Higher Education (NSHE) and ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). The results showed that formulation of learning outcomes in the curriculum document of German Department especially on the components of attitudes and values, mastery of knowledge, general and special skills has been adjusted to the general description and description of the level of qualification 6 in Indonesia National Qualification Frameworkand general attitude and skill formulation in NSHE. Based on the review in terms of the document, the curriculum of German Department has been accordance with INQF and NSHE, but it is still not suitable especially in the criteria Programme Structure and Content.

Abstract

This study attempts to described understanding students in learning lecture evaluation of teaching language germany with using a technique visualize. Methods used in research is descriptive quantitative method. An instrument used the video visualize, material exercise, questionnaires and documents. Material test competence language productive, receptive and literature presented in the form of video .The contents of material displayed with a variation of color, size of letters, a picture, illustrations and audio. The result of research is third of the material well understood by students because display visualizations served interesting and clear, The preparation of a groove material well furnished by example and training make the material into more easily understood.

Abstract

This research is aimed to develope a test instrument based on curriculum 2013 with Alltagsleben theme for XIth Language class program in second semester. The development strategy in this research is strategy by Cennamo and Kalk. The developed test is a test to assess the reading comprehension, grammar and vocabulary ability of the students. There are some kinds of texts in the test that have different word amount. The short texts consist of 20 until 47 words and the students need 30 until 45 seconds to understand each text. Besides, the moderate texts consist of 57 until 82 words. The students need a minute to understand each text. The long texts consist of 114 until 126 words. The students need two minutes to understand each text. After the test has been developed, the test and items quality have been reviewed by experts  and a trial has been held to check the readability, item difficulty, item discrimination, distractors‘ function and reliability of the test. The result is a test that has 54 items with good quality, 0,71  coefficient of validity and 0,863 coefficient of reliability.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of audio-visual media in improving the German writing skills of class XII students of SMK LAB Jakarta. The research method used is quantitative and ANCOVA analysis technique. The type of research used is quasi-experimental. The sample used in this study was 30 students of class XII A RPL as the experimental class and another class of XII B TKJ which amounted to 30 people as control class students who were chosen randomly (Random Sampling). The writing ability of students learning to use audio-visual media produces students who are able to develop creative ideas widely, able to increase accuracy in sentence structure or spelling in writing simple essays. The analysis successfully verified that the use of audio-visual media was effective in improving students' German writing skills. The statistical value of the ANCOVA test results yielded 0.004 < 0.05 and the F value was 8.813 < who receive treatment using audio-visual in the learning process have more diverse writing skills with broad ideas than students who apply conventional learning.
