Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan menjelaskan status satuan lingual {ka-} dalam bahasa Sumbawa Dialek Jereweh. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode wawancara dan introspeksi (karena penulis penutur dan menguasai bahasa Sumbawa) dengan menghadirkan keseluruhan konteks pemakaian satuan {ka-}, sedangkan data dianalisis menggunakan metode padan intralingual. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan empat status satuan {ka-} dalam bahasa Sumbawa. Pertama,  berstatus sebagai morfem terikat (afiks), misalnya pada kangering ‘kedinginan’, kandatang ‘kedatangan’, kanepat ‘kesiangan’. Kedua, berstatus sebagai penunjuk penanda aspek bermakna ‘telah’, biasanya mendahului verba yang mengisi fungsi predikat dalam konstruksi sintaksis, misalnya dalam kontruksi ka datang ‘telah datang’, ka lalo ‘telah pergi’, ka mate ‘telah meninggal’, dan sebagainya. Ketiga, berstatus sebagai penunjuk ‘ini’, misalnya pada ka nya ‘ini dia’, kabeka ka ‘kenapa ini’, apa ka ‘apa ini’, dan sebagainya. Keempat, bukan sebagai satuan apapun karena merupakan bagian (suku kata) dari unsur morfem dasar, misalnya kamomang ‘terapung’, kameler ‘terbawa arus air’, kamantul ‘tersandung’, dan sebagainya, karena masing-masing tidak ditemukan bentuk *momang, *meler, dan *mantul dalam bahasa Sumbawa Dialek Jereweh.

Abstract

Mudabbirah, an Arabic word which means ‘coach’ is part of an Islamic boarding school management. Different from any other personnel of school management, Mudabbirah are selected among students of the 11th grade. This element of management is usually based in each room where students live and is responsible for controlling the day-to-day activities of other students staying in the room. In addition to tasks such as ensuring discipline, mudabbirah is also given a responsibility to coach their juniors in learning foreign languages (in this particular school Arabic and English). Due to the important role this school element plays, this training was held in order to improve mudabbirah language mastery as well as their teaching methodology. The findings show that mudabbirah showed enthusiasm which is reflected by their attendance and activeness during the training. By doing so it is hoped that they can perform their duty better as a result of better developed language knowledge and skills in English and at the same time are skillful coach for their peers

Abstract

Pada umumnya, kenai Strategi Akselerasi Kenaikan Pangkat dan Jabatan Dosen FKIP Universitas Mataram kan pangkat dan jabatan dosen seringkali terlambat. Secara umum keterlambatan itu disebabkan oleh dua hal pokok yaitu faktor diri dosen tersebut dan faktor sistem administrasi yang kurang mendukung. Padahal pangkat dan jabatan seorang dosen akan berpengaruh pada kualitas pembelajaran di perguruan tinggi, bahkan akan berpengaruh pada akreditasi program studi. Untuk itu, perlu ada strategi dan upaya dalam rangka akselerasi kenaikan pangkat dan jabatan dosen. Dalam rangka kelancaran pelaksanaan proses pengembangan karier kepada tenaga akademik/dosen di lingkungan FKIP Universitas Mataram, maka dipandang perlu dilakukannya workshop untuk menetapkan strategi akselerasi kenaikan pangkat dan Jabatan Dosen di FKIP Universitas Mataram. Untuk mempermudah dan memperlancar usulan ini, FKIP Universitas Mataram akan mengimplementasikan beberapa langkah strategis, yaitu:  pembentukan tim percepatan untuk publikasi, peningkatan kapasitas sumber daya manusia, sistem arsip secara daring (online), hibah penelitian bagi dosen yang potensial naik ke jenjang Guru Besar, dan pembagian beban tugas (load) staf administrasi yang menangani urusan kenaikan pangkat dan jabatan dosen ke staf administrasi jurusan/program studi.

Abstract

The presidential candidate debate text development system is a sort of linguistic experience elements reflecting the speaker's way of thinking related to the policies of the nation and state. The text development might indicate the policy intended by a presidential candidate to build the nation and state. Based upon this, there are three factors behind the selection of this topic to research; namely, empirical, practical, and theoretical factors. This study is conducted aimed at describing various issues concerning the development of the linguistic experience of the two presidential candidates in improving the national and international welfare and international politics-national resilience. Systemic Functional Linguistic (SFL) theory initiated by Halliday (1985,1991, 2004, 2014) is used as the grounded theory in this study. This study employs qualitative descriptive approach with linguistic phenomenological paradigm. Various data types analyzed in this study include words, phrases, clauses, group phrases, and text units. The data use taken from the recorded of audio-visual Candidate Debate Text (CDT) in stage I and II. The research instruments used in this study are text validation tables and contexts. Along with some advanced techniques, documentation and observation were conducted to collect the data. Meanwhile, in processing the data collected, this study passed several stages; namely, data classification, segmentation, and codification. To analyze the data processed, this study employed several stages namely reduction, presentation, and verification. The results of this study show that Prabowo Subianto (PS) tended to use dynamic linear text development pattern, whereas Joko Widodo (JW) tended to use a constant linear text development pattern.

Abstract

Due to the dynamic and ever-changing contexts of their work, teachers need to continuously develop their professionalism. One professional development procedure close enough to teachers’ work place, the classroom, is Lesson Study (LS). This paper illustrates the potentials benefits of implementing LS in one Islamic school in Lombok and the challenges of implementing this procedure in this particular school. Data were collected through distribution of questionnaire to 31 teachers of this school. Results of data analysis indicate that all teachers are positive about the advantages of applying LS in their classrooms. However, they are also aware of the potential challenges of implementing this professional development procedure in the school, which needs careful consideration. Following a list of all these challenges is recommendation of how to deal with them.

Abstract

The Shawshank Redemption movie is a meaningful movie which needs to knows more about. The objective of this research is to examine the translation strategy of idiomatic expressions used by the translator in The Shawshank Redemption movie subtitle. The data is obtained by watching closely The Shawshank Redemption movie repeatedly, note-taking, compare the idiomatic expression used by the characters and its translation strategies in the subtitle from the movie. The data that has been collected is translates using Baker’s Theory but descriptively outlined. The result of this research showed that there are 19 utterances of idiomatic expressions found in The Shawshank Redemption movie based on Seidl and McMordie’s (1988). All of 19 idiomatic expressions are classified based on Baker’s (1992) translation strategies into 4 idioms of similar meaning and form, none of idioms of similar meaning but dissimilar form, 10 translations by omission, and 5 translations by omission.

Abstract

This study was aimed at finding out the language dominance and language shift factors that influence the shift from Sumbawanese to Indonesian and Sasak. The Sumbawanese refers to Taliwang dialect which is the native language of the Sumbawa community at South Anjani 1. The study was conducted in South Anjani 1, East Lombok. The subjects and informants of the study were teenagers, the parents, and the chief of the village. The subjects of study were teenagers so that it be worthwhile to predict the future of the vernacular. The study used qualitative research method in collecting and analyzing the data. The instruments of data collection were observation, interview, and recording. After collecting the data, it was analyzed by the following stages, transcription, identification, and classification. The findings show that the dominant language used by teenagers in South Anjani 1 is Indonesian. This appears to the affection of language shift of their native language, Sumbawanese. The language shift is caused by some factors, social, economic, political, demographic, attitudes and values, family, and education factors.

Abstract

The headline is the main highlight that readers see in a news story. Tempodotco digitized its printed news headlines. The digitization of this news title is done by visualizing it in the form of a poster. The purpose of this study is to describe the semantic behavior of groups of basic verbs, derivative verbs, and verbal phrases in forming metaphors and personifications in news titles on the Tempodotco digital media Instagram page. This research method uses descriptive method. The data collection method is the method of listening and documentation. The type of data in this research is qualitative data in the form of pictures and words in the news title. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model which includes data analysis, data reduction, data display, and data verification. In this study, it was found that 1) the basic verb group has three inherent meanings of action or action and one inherent meaning of state. The language style formed is three metaphors and one personification. 2) The semantic behavior of the derived verb group which is transitive has five inherent meanings, one action inherent meaning, and one process inherent meaning. The language style formed is three metaphors and two personifications. 3) The semantic behavior of the verbal phrase group has all the inherent meanings of the action and forms three metaphors and one personification.
