Abstract

Merely providing the formula of area in the learning activity can impede students’ deep understanding of the concept of area. This study was a qualitative design research that aimed to develop a learning design by using the context of pixel art and grid paper to build students' knowledge of the concept of area measurement. There were three stages in this study, namely, preparation, teaching experiment, and retrospective analysis. The subjects of this study were 25 students of P3 (Primary 3) SD Global Inbyra School. However, the discussion focused on a group consisting of three students. The research subjects were given a mini lesson consisting of 2 meetings. It can be seen from the first meeting that the pixel art drawn by the students built on their initial measuring ability because they automatically notice that half square and half square make up 1 square. At the second meeting, students demonstrated their ability to estimate the number of squares (area) in an irregular picture. In the activity of making any shapes that have an area of 20 square units, students were aware that to find the area of the rectangle, they can use repeated addition which can be directed to the area of the rectangle (p x l).

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to: (1) find out the misconceptions experienced by students in the material of similarity and congruence by using three-tier diagnostic tests based on open-ended questions. (2) find out the large percentage of students' misconceptions on the similarity and congruence material using a three-tier diagnostic test based on open-ended questions. The research method used was descriptive qualitative. The data collection instruments used were clinical interviews and three-tier diagnostic tests based on open-ended questions. This study was conducted in the SMP Negeri 2 Palimanan. The research subjects were selected using purposive sampling techniques so that 33 students were selected from 330 students. The results of the analysis of the three-tier diagnostic test based on open-ended questions showed that (1) the misconceptions that occurred in the material of similarity and congruence of 2D shapes included pure misconceptions, false positives, and false negatives. (2) the percentage of misconceptions experienced in the material of similarity and congruence 2D shapes as a whole was 50.2% with a large percentage of pure misconceptions 32.4%, false-positive 15.6%, and false-negative 2.2%.Keywords: misconception; three tier diagnostic test; pure misconception; false positive, false negative AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk : (1) mengetahui miskonsepsi yang dialami oleh siswa pada materi kesebangunan dan kekongruenan berdasarkan hasil analisis three tier diagnostic test berbasis open ended question. (2) mengetahui besar persentase miskonsepsi yang dialami oleh siswa pada materi kesebangunan dan kekongruenan menggunakan three tier diagnostic test berbasis open ended question. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu wawancara klinikal dan three tier diagnostic test berbasis open ended question berbentuk esai sebanyak 7 butir soal. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP Negeri 2 Palimanan. Subjek penelitian dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling sehingga dipilih 33 siswa dari 330 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) berdasarkan hasil analisis three tier diagnostic test berbasis open ended question miskonsepsi yang terjadi pada materi kesebangunan dan kekongruenan bangun datar meliputi miskonsepsi murni, false positive, dan false negative. (2) besar persentase miskonsepsi yang dialami oleh siswa secara keseluruhan pada materi kesebangunan dan kekongruenan bangun datar adalah 50,2% dengan besar persentase miskonsepsi murni 32,4%, false positive 15,6%, dan false negative 2,2%.Kata Kunci: miskonsepsi; three tier diagnostic test; miskonsepsi murni; false positive; false negative  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/mtk/v9i3.pp276-291

Abstract

Percentage is found to be a familiar and challenging topic at the same time. Percentage has many application in daily life, yet many students still find it difficult. It might because many schools teach merely a formal procedure and pay less attention to the understanding of the reasoning behinds percentage ideas. This small study employed a design research and aimed at supporting students in understanding percentage by using bar model. Eleven 6th and 7th grade students of American International School of Rotterdam were participated in this study. A sequence of learning activities was designed to help students construct their understanding of percentage. The activities consisted of some rich contextual problems that lead to the emergence of bar model. The result revealed that the model can help students construct students’ knowledge of the relation among numbers in percentage, and also help them solve percentage problems systematically through some intermediate steps which include benchmarks.

Abstract

Sektor pertanian merupakan bagian penting dari aktivitas ekonomi dalam masyarakat. Sektor pertanian yang unggul berhubungan dengan terjaminnya ketahanan pangan. Ketahanan pangan merupakan faktor penting yang harus diperhatikan agar proses industrialisasi dan pembangunan ekonomi berjalan dengan baik. Jika sektor pertanian diolah dengan baik maka akan meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Kesejahteraan memerlukan pengelolaan ekonomi yang sebaik-baiknya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang dapat meningkatkan produktivitas diantaranya faktor tanah, modal, tenaga kerja dan manajemen produksi. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah faktor-faktor tersebut mempunyai pengaruh terhadap kesejahteraan petani. Dari hasil analisis data diperoleh bahwa 86,5% faktor-faktor produktivitas pertanian memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap kesejahteraan petani. Faktor-faktor tersebut adalah faktor tanah, modal dan manajemen produksi. Adapun tenaga kerja tidak memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap tingkat kesejahteraan masyarakat.

Abstract

Many studies showed that teachers and prospective teachers have difficulty solving percentage problems. This research is a qualitative descriptive study that aims to investigate the prospective teachers’ strategies in solving problems on the topic of percentages. A total of 250 students majoring in Mathematics Education and Primary Education at IAIN Syekh Nurjati and IAIN Pekalongan were purposively selected to participate in this study. The results showed that only less than half of the participants (40.1%) could give the correct answer. Qualitative data on the strategies used by prospective teachers on the percent question show that (1) teacher candidates ignore the importance of the % symbol and consider the % symbol only as a unit of measurement, (2) teacher candidates ignore the essential role of the reference quantity in the percent question, (3 ) teacher candidates are not used to solving percent problems related to determining initial values before discounts and assume that any percent problem can be solved using multiplication or division.

Abstract

Application of Lesson Study and Moodle to Improve Learning Process SkillsEmphasizing the process of learning is very important because the learning process will determine learning outcomes. The learning process can provide learning experiences to students so that learning will be more meaningful. Moodle is an application of the concepts and mechanisms of teaching and learning that utilize information technology. The purpose of this research was to describe the application of Moodle-assisted Lesson Study to improve learning process skills at Evaluation Process and Mathematics Learning Outcomes course. The research subjects were 30  students of 4th semester in Mathematics Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of  Pancasakti University 2017/2018 academic year. The research process was carried out through 3 cycles. Each cycle consists of three stages: plan, do, see. Data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques are carried out by data collection processes according to Milles and Humberman. The results of the research were obtained  the improvement of the learning process in Evaluation Process and Mathematics Learning Outcomes Course.

Abstract

Proses perkuliahan di program studi Pendidikan matematika belum mengintegrasikan komponen e-learning. Penggunaan teknologi dalam perkuliahan pun masih jarang. Dengan pengintegrasian LMS Moodle dalam perkuliahan tatap muka, akan menunjang terbentuknya blended learning. Adanya implementasi Blended learning pada mata kuliah Geometri transformasi diharapkan  keaktifan mahasiswa semakin meningkat..Penelitian pengembangan pada penelitian ini merujuk pada model pengembangan ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluation). Penelitian ini pada tahap Implement (Implementasi), yaitu menguji cobakan produk di lapangan untuk mengetahui pencapaian tujuan pengembangan produk.Implementasi Blended learning pada mata kuliah Geometri transformasi diharapkan  keaktifan mahasiswa semakin meningkat. Hal ini dapat terlihat pada presentase mahasiswa yang berpartisipasi pada kelas LMS moodle nya atau dalam blended learning; grader report serta perbedaan nilai geometri transformasi. Diharapkan dalam mengimplementasi Blended learning akses jaringan internet yang tersedia harus memadai sehingga tidak menghambat proses login ke sistem LMS Moodle.

Abstract

This study aims to promote students' critical thinking skills of trigonometry by using STEM-based learning. This study was an experimental study conducted on 10th grade students of social studies MAN 1 Cirebon. The data were collected by using tests. The result showed that there was an improvement of students’ critical thinking skills after the implementation of STEM-based learning on trigonometry. Students’ posttest score of 79.83 was greater than the pretest score, which was 30.81. The paired sample t-test analysis showed that there was a significant increase from pretest to posttest score. Thus, it can be concluded that there STEM-based learning can be applied to promote students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Buku teks dapat mempengaruhi proses belajar peserta didik. Setiap kurikulum yang berlaku memiliki buku teks sebagai bahan ajar utama. Beberapa sekolah SPK di Indonesia mengadaptasi kurikulum yang diterapkan di Singapura. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan konten materi dan penyajian materi pada buku teks matematika Indonesia dan Singapura pada materi SPLDV. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif komparatif. Perbandingan ini menggunakan buku teks matematika kurikulum 2013 kelas VIII Semester 1 dan buku teks Discovering Mathematics 2A (2nd Edition). Berdasarkan hasil analisis, kedua buku teks tersebut memiliki persamaan dan perbedaan masing-masing dalam setiap aspek dan komponen yang dianalisis. Pada cara penyajian materi, buku teks matematika Indonesia cenderung monoton dalam satu halaman secara padat diisikan oleh tulisan namun dalam pemilihan warna bervariasi. Sedangkan dalam buku teks Singapura, cara penyajian materi memanfaatkan tata letak yang bervariasi dengan menambahkan spot kecil (bubble) walaupun dalam pemilihan warna tidak terlalu bervariasi. Kelebihan buku teks Indonesia yaitu pemanfaatan masalah kontekstual saat memperkenalkan sebuah konsep, sedangkan pada buku teks Singapura masalah kontekstual hanya disajikan dalam latihan soal. Di sisi lain, buku teks Singapura memiliki kelebihan dalam hal integrasi pemanfaatan teknologi dan antisipasi miskonsepsi peserta didik.

Abstract

Several studies revealed that mathematics problems in textbooks, which were expected to encourage students’ reasoning and problem-solving skills, were still lacking. This study aimed to compare Pythagorean problems in Indonesian and Singaporean mathematics textbooks based on the cognitive level of Bloom's taxonomy, representation form, contextual feature, and response type. The data were collected through documentation and observation. The research results indicated that on the cognitive level, the C3-C4 level dominated the Pythagorean problems in Indonesian and Singaporean textbooks. Regarding representation form, Pythagorean problems in Indonesian textbooks used visual and combined forms, while Singaporean textbooks applied mostly combined forms. In contextual feature and response type, Pythagorean problems in Indonesian and Singaporean textbooks used non-application and closed-ended problems. Therefore, the result of this study is expected to contribute to the improvement of high-quality mathematics textbooks, which can compete internationally to support students’ learning. Abstract: Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan soal-soal matematika dalam buku ajar Indonesia yang diharapkan dapat mendorong kemampuan penalaran dan pemecahan masalah siswa masih kurang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan soal-soal Teorema Pythagoras dalam buku matematika Indonesia dan Singapura berdasarkan tingkat kognitif Bloom, bentuk representasi, fitur kontekstual, dan tipe respon. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui dokumentasi dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada tingkat kognitif, soal Pythagoras dalam buku teks Indonesia dan Singapura sebagian besar berada pada kategori C3-C4. Terkait bentuk representasi, soal-soal Pythagoras dalam buku Indonesia lebih banyak menggunakan bentuk visual dan gabungan, sedangkan buku Singapura lebih banyak menggunakan bentuk gabungan. Pada aspek fitur kontekstual dan tipe respon, soal-soal Pythagoras baik dalam buku Indonesia dan buku Singapura menggunakan soal non-aplikasi dan soal tertutup. Oleh kare itu, hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas buku teks matematika yang dapat bersaing secara internasional, untuk mendukung pembelajaran siswa.
