Abstract

This research aims to investigate the influence of Project-Based Learning (PjBL)- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) on Students' Creative Thinking Skills. The research method was quasi-experiment using a nonequivalent control group design. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique from two of 11th-grade science classes as an experimental and a control groups. This study used a test instrument of creative thinking skills. Research data were analyzed using SPSS and Microsoft Excel software. Hypothetical test results were assessed using independent sample t-test, obtained sig value (2-tailed) = 0.01 indicating sig value < 0.05. According to statistical analysis, there is a significant difference between the control class and the experiment class. The n-gain value was obtained with a score of 0.59 (a medium category). This result shows that the application of PJBL-STEM can improve students' creative thinking skills in the static fluid topic (Pascal law).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the needs of students for basic physics teaching materials  in industrial engineering major. This study is an exploratory descriptive study with the subject of industrial engineering students who have taken basic physics courses. The sample used for this study was taken randomly with a total sample of 109 students. Data of study was obtained from filling out a questionnaire on the needs of teaching materials. The results of questionnaire analysis of the needs for teaching materials indicate that students want teaching materials that can make them active in learning, teaching materials whose contents begin with context in everyday life, can facilitate students to study in groups, and can improve skills in the world of work. As a follow-up to the results of questionnaire analysis, it is immediately necessary to develop basic physics teaching materials in industrial engineering major.

Abstract

Science learning in elementary schools should more emphasis on process through practicum activities, currently science learning in the class is still limited to delivering theory and rarely invites students to do practicals because of the limitations of practicum tools owned by the school. Based on observations, this is also experienced by science teachers at SDN Pulo Panjang. Based on these problems, community service activities were carried out in the form of workshops and socialization of use science practicum tools, this activity consisted of two steps, e.g. preparation and implementation. At  preparation step, simple practicum tools are produced for science practicum, then these practicum tools are demonstrated at implementation step. At implementation step, the speaker explained and demonstrated several practicums related to electricity & magnetism and pressure materials. There are several things that participants gained after holding this workshop, e.g. 1) Knowledge, after the workshop it was seen that participants got new knowledge about implementation of elementary science practicum, 2) Skill, participants seemed to have tskills to carry out elementary science practicum activities, and 3) Products, after the workshop, science practicum tools will be given to the school, science practicum tools provided are equipped with guides/modules

Abstract

Based on sales data of PT. Rinnai Indonesia-Cikupa, there is an increase in sales of 15% stoves in 2021. Conditions that often occur are damage to production equipment including end forming, rolling, bending 90°, drilling, buffing, and stamping machines. This study aims to determine the level of performance of the bending machine 90° and proposed improvements with a preventive maintenance approach. The research was conducted during January-December 2021 using reliability analysis method and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) methods. Based on the reliability analysis. The overall availability (Ao) value of 88% is still below the world standard (≥90%). And from the failure mode and effect analysis, the RPN value is 352. This is due to the high downtime of the dominant component. Namely the encoder with a frequency of 86 times of damage and a downtime of 415 hours

Abstract

This Study aims to determine the effect of the Sun's annual apparent motion on the oscillations of the Subuh prayer time, especially in the city of Pontianak. The research method used is the literature review or reference method. In the literature review, the things that were done included: looking for the schedule of the dawn prayer in the city of Pontianak over one year, knowing the geographical position of the city of Pontianak, the apparent annual motion of the Sun, and the effect of the annual apparent motion of the Sun on the initial oscillation of the Subuh prayer time. Apart from that, another thing done in the literature review was to look for the influence of the earth-sun distance on the oscillations of the dawn prayer time. The results showed that there were similarities between the oscillations of the annual apparent motion of the Sun and the oscillations of the dawn prayer time in the city of Pontianak. However, there is a time difference with an average of 41 days between the oscillation of the Sun's annual apparent motion and the oscillation of the time of the Subuh prayer. The results of the Study also show that the distance from the Earth to the Sun (aphelion and perihelion) affects the initial oscillation of the dawn prayer time. When the Earth is at the aphelion point, the time for the Subuh prayer falls later than usual. Meanwhile, when the Earth is at perihelion, the time for the dawn prayer falls faster than usual.
