Abstract

There are a number of methods can be applied in giving critics on fine art, one of which is through the art- lover oriented approach. Basically this approach gives emphasis on the meaning of art work is fully determined by the appreciator or the lover himself/herself. This kind of approach has lately become popular particularly in order to understand the meaning of a contemporary art work. Joko Dwi Avianto’s bamboo statue “Harmony of Speed” which is used as the topic of this article is seen by the writer from his own viewpoint as an appreciator of art. The exploration of meaning for this art work makes use of Roland Barthes’ connotative semiotic approach. The connotative meaning of the statue is related to the adoption of modern civilization in traditional life. Facing the modern life, artist community cannot directly refuse or accept it instantly. They should accommodate both aspects (modern and tradition) proportionally. One compromise step is that whatsoever decision you take in art creation, one thing that you should be kept in mind is that you never neglect your own cultural identity.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini diperuntukkan bagi karang taruna dikawasan wisata Kampung Heritage Kajoetangan Kota Malang. Bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kreativitas peserta, potensi diri dibidang kreatif, menambah pengetahuan dan pengalaman artistik melalui pembuatan lampion hias. Kebutuhan akan pencahayaan dilokasi kawasan wisata bukan hanya untuk keindahan tetapi memeriahkan tampilan permukiman khususnya di malam hari. Pembekalan keterampilan bagi karang taruna sangat diharapkan dan dipastikan untuk kurun waktu tertentu, secara berkesinambungan kawasan ini menjadi sentra industri kreatif berbasis budaya lokal yang memiliki nilai ekonomis yang cukup tinggi. Masalahnya aktivitas karang taruna sangat kurang dibidang kreatif, belum memiliki kompetensi mengembangkan potensi kreatif berolah seni rupa dan kerajinan untuk memperindah lingkungan yang menjadi objek kunjungan wisata sehingga perlu dilatih. Metode yang digunakan diantaranya  pengayaan, metode pembelajaran, metode partisipatif, dan metode evaluasi untuk mengetahui perubahan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan wawasan/perilaku khalayak sasaran. Manfaat dari kegiatan pelatihan penting untuk meningkatkan kreativitas peserta, mampu berwirausaha, memiliki motivasi tinggi untuk mengembangkan potensi diri, dan menggunakan keterampilan yang dimiliki untuk memperindah, memelihara, dan melestarikan  lingkungan kawasan kampung wisata Kajoetangan.  Kata kunci— lampion hias, kreativitas, Kampung Heritage Kajoetangan Malang. Abstract Community service activity is for young people in the tourism area of Kajoetangan Heritage Village, Malang. Aiming to increase participant's creativity, self potential in the creative field, increase knowledge and artistic experience through making decorative lanterns. The need for lighting in the tourist area is not just for beauty but enliven the appearance of settlements, especially at night. Provision of skills for youth is highly expected and ensured for a certain period of time, this area will continuously become a center for creative industries based on local culture that has a high economic value. The problem is that the activities of the youth group are very lacking in the creative field, and do not yet have the competence to develop the creative potential to work in the arts and crafts to beautify the environment that is the object of a tourist visit so they need to be trained. The methods used include enrichment, learning methods, participatory methods, and evaluation methods to determine changes in knowledge, skills, and insights/behavior of the target audience. The benefits of the training activities are important to increase the creativity of the participants, being able to become entrepreneurs, have high motivation to develop their potential, and use their skills to beautify, maintain, and preserve the environment of the Kajoetangan tourist village. Keywords— ornamental lanterns, creativity, Kampung Heritage Kajoetangan Malang

Abstract

This article is about teaching art criticism in college. Nowadays, the use of approaches that are not conventional, or only using a formalistic approach, is starting to bloom. This is because to discuss contemporary artworks that discourse increasingly diverse contemporary ideas, it is even more difficult to interpret them as an alternative to using a semiotic approach. One of them refers to the thought of Umberto Eco. One theory that can be used is called the "Theory of Lies." This theory is an interesting approach to interpreting signs in the subject of contemporary art criticism. In the use of this theory, a systematic approach is required, and application is based on semiotic principles. This is an effort to provide insight to students at the College of Arts in understanding the emergence of contemporary art works that are multi-interpretative, multi-interpretative, and subjective in nature.

Abstract

Sculpture is an iconic sign to convey a message or something that can be used to represent a state (context), events of the past, or those in the future. Sculpture consists of iconic signs that work together systemically to achieve certain goals. This study aims to (1) describe the meaning of denotation, and (2) interpret the connotative meaning of Anusapati’s work entitled “Bunga di Atas Batu” (Flower on a Stone), a bronze statue created in 2004, by employing the connotative semiotics approach of Roland Barthes. The sculpture portrays a monument, which invites everyone to see that ‘flower’ as the connotation of the forest has been elevated, not to be given a respectable position, but just to be remembered. Forests as valuable assets owned by the Indonesians and even the world are seen metaphorically as ‘the flower’ which is gradually disappearing, (almost) becoming a memory. Abstract

Kampung Sanan Malang has long been known as a center for making tempeh. It has been a long time since the Sanan Malang Tempe and Tempe Chips Production Center Association was established, which has 636 tempe producers as members. Some of its members have been able to process tempeh into various types of preparations. The innovation made in 2021 is named Character Tempe, namely tempeh in the form of animal characters, or fruits. During the trial period, character tempeh was produced using plastic cake molds. The problem faced is that members of this community want to be able to produce this tempeh with a larger production volume, and a more varied product. The reason is that no craftsmen have been able to make their own character models that are more varied as desired. Craftsmen also have not been able to make their own molds. The solution offered is training: making character models using plasticine, training on printing these models using RTV food grade. At the end of this activity, the craftsmen have the ability to produce processed tempeh characters quickly and with good quality so that they become a new Sanan Malang specialty product.

Abstract

Kafe Rumah Akasha merupakan salah satu kafe di kota Malang mengangkat tema retro. Gaya yang Populer pada tahun 1980-an. Penataan desain interior ruangan serta aksesoris yang berkaitan dengan tema menjadi daya tarik tersendiri bagi pengunjung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi desain interior yang sesuai dengan fungsi dan kebutuhan, serta mengetahui visualisasi interior bergaya retro Rumah Akasha di jalan Hassanudin No.35F Klojen Malang. Metode yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kualitatif yang mana peneliti menjelaskan fenomena yang diteliti, dan disajikan dalam bentuk narasi mengenai penataan interior ruangan dan aksesoris yang menonjolkan gaya retro pada kafe Rumah Akasha. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan ada beberapa elemen pembentuk ruang, furniture, serta aksesoris yang bertema retro, yang terlihat pada meja, kursi dan aksesoris pada lampu, lukisan mobil tua, televisi. Dan ada beberapa bagian furniture dan aksesoris yang tidak termasuk kedalam gaya retro.

Abstract

Abstract: Novel is a work of fiction that is printed like a book and has a cover. Novel cover is one element that can increase the purchasing power of its readers. Therefore, the cover of the novel is designed in an attractive manner, including the novels by Boy Candra which become the identity of the author and the novel is also one of the reasons why these novels become best sellers. Some elements that can compose a cover design are illustration, colour, and typography. The research objective to be achieved is to determine the visual design of the cover of Boy Candra's novels, which includes several elements, namely illustrations, colours, and typography. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method using observation and documentation as its data collection instruments. The result of analysis showed that the cover design of Boy Candra’s novel made use of achromatic colour that looks simple, elegant, mysterious, and dark. In addition, the writing design on the cover uses a consistent type of typography, for example on the nameplate/logo, synopsis, masthead, and also headlines that use script and cursive fonts. Keywords: Visual Analysis, Illustration, Colour, Typography, Novel Cover Abstrak: Novel merupakan karya fiksi yang dicetak seprti sebuah buku dan memiliki cover. Cover novel merupakan salah satu elemen yang dapat meningkakan daya beli para pembacanya. Oleh karena itu, cover novel didesain secara menarik, termasuk novel-novel karya Boy Candra yang menjadi identitas pengarang dan novelnya pun menjadi salah satu alasan novel-novel tersebut menjadi best seller. Beberapa unsur yang dapat menyususn sebuah desain cover yaitu ilustrasi, warna,dan tipografi. Tujuan penelitian yang hendak dicapai oleh adalah untuk mengetahui desain visual cover novel-novel Boy Candra, yang meliputi beberapa hal yaitu ilustrasi, warna, dan tipografi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan instrument penelitian obseervasi dan dokumentasi. Dengan menggunakan metode dan instrumen penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa desain cover warna yang digunakan pada cover adalah warna akromatik, terlihat simple, elegan, misterius, sedih. Selain itu, desain tulisan pada cover menggunaan jenis tipografi yang konsisten pada cover novel karya Boy Candra, contohnya pada nameplate/logo, sinopsis, masthead, dan juga headline yang menggunakan font script and cursive. Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendiskripsikan proses rekontruksii terhadap gerak Kembangan Jaranan BTS (Bromo-Tengger-Semeru) kreasi Tugu Sari Panggung Rejo, sebagai sajian wisata.  Masalah difokuskan pada bagaimana melakukan rekontruksii terhadap gerak Kembangan pada kelompok Jaranan BTS kreasi, Tugu Sari Panggung Rejo sesi pertama untuk menjadi sajian tari wisata khas Kabupaten Malang. Guna merealisasikan  rencanan ini dipergunakan acuan teori Koreografi dari Sumandyo Hadi .  Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian pengembangan model  4- D ( Four D)  yang dikembangkan S. Thiagarajan yang dimodifikasi sesuai dengan kebutuhan penelitian. Hasil penelitian adalah: 1) terciptanya tari Kembangan kreasi Jaranan BTS untuk sajian wisata, dengan melakukan perombakan konsep elemen dasar; 2) pemadatan durasi waktu menjadi 10 menit; 3) menambah property sodoran dan 4) menerapkan tata rias serta tata kostum untuk memperkuat karakter tokoh.  Kesimpulannya, proses rekontruksii dapat dilakukan dengan melakukan tahapan penggalian terhadap: 1) gerak ; 2) pola lantai ; 3) property; 4) pemadatan ; 5) penerapan tata rias dan kostum untuk memperkuat karakter tokoh.

Abstract

Kampung Sanan Malang has a population of 481 households, 262 of which have opened a business to produce tempeh and tempeh chips. RW15 Sanan's Profile Book states that the turnover of money from the industry reaches nearly forty billion rupiahs per month. However, there are still around a hundred families whose welfare still needs to be improved. Welfare distribution efforts include skills training to open up new business opportunities. One of the work programs of RW 15 Sanan is conducting coaching by involving outside parties to assist, and skills training to reduce unemployment and improve the standard of living of non-tempe craftsmen. One of the travel awareness group (Pokdawis) businesses that has been running well is the educational tourism business based in the Sanan thematic village. This business led to the idea to open a new business, namely the production of eco-print-based souvenirs. Based on these problems, eco-print training was carried out using the steam technique.
