Abstract

The purpose of this service activity is to increase the knowledge and skills of breeders in Marga Agung Village, Jati Agung Subdistrict, South Lampung Regency regarding various types of forage, compiling ration formulations based on local feed, and processing feed from agricultural waste. The main issues that become priority are (1) the ability of breeders to prepare beef cattle feed rations; (2) utilization of feed processing technology to improve the nutritional quality of animal feed; and (3) livestock businesses that have not been able to boost the farmer economy. Through the Participatory Rural Appraisal method, this activity was able to increase the knowledge and skills of breeders in preparing local feed-based ration formulations and processing feed from agricultural waste.

Abstract

Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan di Desa Raja Basa Lama, Kecamatan Labuhan Ratu, Kabupaten Lampung Timur, antara lain memberikan penyuluhan dan pelatihan pembuatan amoniasi limbah pertanian, memberikan penyuluhan dan pelatihan pembuatan silase limbah pertanian sebagai pakan ternak, Target kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan yaitu peternak mampu meningkatkan kualitas pakan dari limbah pertanian dengan menggunakan teknologi tepat guna sehingga dapat membantu meningkatkan produktivitas ternak. Kegiatan dilaksanakan selama 3 bulan dengan kolaborasi tim dosen pengabdian dan mitra kelompok tani Karya Budi. Kegiatan yang dilakukan berupa penyuluhan pembuatan pakan amoniasi dan silase dari limbah pertanian, serta pendampingan praktik pembuatan pakan amoniasi dan silase. Hasil kegiatan yang diperoleh berupa produk pakan amoniasi dan pakan silase dengan bahan baku pakan limbah pertanian. Pemberian penyuluhan oleh tim pengabdian meningkatkan pengetahuan mitra dilihat dari hasil pretes dan postes. Kata kunci: Amoniasi, Limbah Pertanian, Pakan, Silase, Ruminansia

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengkaji sifat fisik bungkil inti sawit giling hasil pengayakan dengan ukuran ayakan yang berbeda. Perlakuan terdiri dari 4 level ukuran ayakan: 16, 30, 50, dan 100 mesh dengan 3 ulangan pada setiap level ayakan. Peubah yang diamati adalah berat jenis, kerapatan tumpukan, kerapatan pemadatan tumpukan, daya ambang, dan sudut tumpukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa level ukuran ayakan mempengaruhi (P<0,01) berat jenis, sudut tumpukan, kerapatan tumpukan, daya ambang, dan kerapatan pemadatan tumpukan. Berat jenis, kerapatan tumpukan, kerapatan pemadatan tumpukan, dan daya ambang bungkil inti sawit menurun sedangkan sudut tumpukan meningkat seiring dengan semakin meningkatnya ukuran ayakan yang digunakan.

Abstract

Livestock waste including poultry manure can be used as an alternative feedstuff for fish feed. Manure is an alternative protein source to reduce the use of protein raw materials for feed which is very expensive.The objective of this study was to evaluate physical quality of pellet supplemented with manure poultry with different level (10% and 15%). A completely randomized with 3 treatments and 4 replicates was used. Parameters observed were the buoyance, water stability and pellet hardness. The result showed suplementation of manure poultry up to 15% had no significant effect to buoyance, water stability and pellet hardness. In conclusion, feed formulated with manure poultry did not negatively affected water stability and pellet hardness. Feed technology to increase the buoyancy is required.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh varietas dan jarak tanam yang berbeda terhadap kandungan nutrisi hijauan jagung. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Desember 2018  hingga Juni 2019 di Laboratorium Lapang Terpadu dan Laboratorium Nutrisi dan Makanan Ternak, Jurusan Peternakan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Lampung. Perlakuan dilakukan secara eksperimental menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial. Faktor pertama adalah varietas jagung (A = Bisi-18, B = NK 212, C = Pioneer 36) dan faktor ke dua jarak tanam jagung (J1= 60x20 cm, J2=80x20 cm). Tahapan penelitian mencakup tujuh tahap yaitu tahap pembuatan kompos kotoran sapi, persiapan lahan dan penanaman, pemupukan, pemeliharaan hijauan, panen dan pascapanen, pengambilan sampel, serta tahap analisis proksimat. Setiap perlakuan dikelompokkan berdasarkan ketinggian lahan menjadi kelompok 1, kelompok 2 dan kelompok 3. Peubah yang diamati adalah kandungan nutrisi bahan organik, protein kasar, lemak kasar, serat kasar dan Total Digestible Nutrient hijauan jagung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak terdapat interaksi antara perlakuan varietas dan jarak tanam. Perlakuan varietas serta jarak tanam tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap kadar protein kasar, lemak kasar dan serat kasar hijauan jagung. Kata kunci : Analisis proksimat, Hijauan jagung, Jarak tanam, Kandungan nutrisi, Varietas jagung.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the productivity and nutrient content of three grasstypes with or without rubber trees shading. It was conducted in May-September 2020at Sangga Buana Village, Seputih Banyak, Central Lampung and Animal Nutrition andFood Laboratory, University of Lampung. This study used nested design with two factorsof rubber trees shaded and grass types with six replications. Both factors were shadedconditions: N0 (land without shade) and N1 (land under rubber trees shade); and grasstypes: elephant grass (A1); setaria (A2); and odot (A3). The results showed the shadeddecreased (P<0.05) leave length of each grass compared to non-shading conditions.Grass under the shade decreased their production and odot grass showed the lowestproduction (P<0.05). The number of tillers and plant height under the shade decreasedsignificantly (P<0.05) on elephant grass and setaria grass. Leaf width under the shadedecreased significantly (P<0.05) on setaria and odot grass. The shaded effected (P<0.05)nutrient content on elephant grass, setaria, and odot. It was concluded that Setariagrass (Setaria sphacelata) had the best productivity under the shaded based on yield.The nutrient content of each grass varied depending on the ability of the grass to adaptto shaded conditions.

Abstract

Up to now, native chickens have been mostly reared traditionally, with a feeding system that does not take into account the needs of the livestock. The purpose of community service is to provide advice on the rearing system and feed management for native chickens, as well as information on feed formulations. Community service activities are carried out in Margomulyo Village, Jati Agung District, South Lampung Regency, using the Participation Rural Appraisal (PRA) method, with active participation from smallholder farmers. Farmers' increased knowledge, among other things, better understands the intensive native chicken rearing system, the potential of local feed resources, and the needs of livestock and how to formulate rations for native chickens.

Abstract

Cassava peel is a waste from the cassava plant which has the potential to be used as ruminant animal feed. Processing of cassava skin with ammonia needs to be done to improve the quality of cassava skin. The research was conducted to determine the physical and chemical quality of cassava peels after amoniation. The study was analyzed using a completely randomized design (CRD) and the significant results were further tested using Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT). The treatment was T1 (cassava peels + 0kg urea); T2 (cassava peels + 0.02kg urea) ; T3 (Cassava peels + 0.04kg urea). Each treatment consisted of 5 repetitions. The organoleptic test was carried out with 30 test participants. The physical tests observed were color, texture and aroma. Chemical quality was determined through proximate analysis and Scanning Electron Microscope-Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX). Variables in the chemical quality test included dry matter, ash, crude protein, ether extract and crude fiber of cassava peels. The results showed that ammoniation of cassava peels affected the physical and chemical qualities of cassava peels (P<0.05). Ammoniation of cassava peel increases protein content up to 23.01% (T3) and reduces crude fiber up to 7.92% (T2). Increasing the level of urea can increase the process of degradation of starch structure in cassava peels.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Azolla microphylla  flour supplementation in broiler feed rations on body weight, total blood plasma protein and total broiler carcass microbial contamination. The study was conducted for 6 months (May-October 2022) in the broiler cage unit at the Integrated Field Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. This experimental study used four treatments and five replications. Each replicate consisted of five Cobb CP 707broiler strains, bringing a total of 100 broilers. Giving Azolla microphylla flour as a supplement is added to the feed ration with different doses according to broiler body weight, namely P0: ration without Azolla microphylla flour supplementation (control); P1: ration supplemented with 2.5% Azolla microphylla flour; P2 5%; P3 7.5%. Sampling of carcasses and blood serum of 29-day-old broilers was 1 broiler per replication with a total of 20 samples. Samples were sent to the Lampung Veterinary Center to be analyzed for total meat microbial contamination (total plate count) and total plasma protein in blood serum. Data from the test results are arranged in a simple tabular form to be analyzed descriptively. The conclusion of this study wassupplementation with 5% Azolla microphyllaflour in rations were effective to increase body weight gain, maintain total blood plasma protein within the normal range, and maintain total broiler carcass microbial contamination within safe limits for consumption.

Abstract

Margo Mulyo Village is village located in Jati Agung Sub-district with general agricultural potential. One of the potentials is native chicken and biopharmaceutical plants. To develop the productivity of native chicken, biopharmaceutical plants can be used as phytobiotic green additives to replace antibiotics which are now banned. The objectives of this study are: 1. implementing the tridharma; 2. provide information to the farmer of Margo Mulyo Village on the use of phytobiotic green additives in increasing the productivity of native chicken; and 3. increase public awareness of increasing the productivity of native chicken. This community service was carried out in Margo Mulyo Village, Jati Agung District, South Lampung Regency. The target for this activity is farmers in the village. The method to be implemented is counseling by way of lectures and providing examples of simple applications in the provision of phytobiotics to increase the productivity of native chicken. The counseling activity was carried out with zoom meeting on July 21th , 2021, while the field visit was carried out on July 22th , 2021 in Margo Mulyo Village. The results showed that farmers have increased ability in maintenance management, recording management, feeding management, and the provision of biopharmaceutical plants for native chicken.
