Abstract

The aim of this research is to find 1) the changes of physicalquality andwater content on wafer of agricultural waste were kept in a range of different times; 2)the most effective time for savingsan wafer of agricultural waste. The research was conducted in September-November 2014 in Banjar Baru Villages, Sukau Subdistrict, West Lampung and in the Laboratory of Nutrition and Feed Livestock, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung.This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments by saving the wafer for 0 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks with fourrepetition. Data were analyzed with Analysis of Varians and continued with Least Significant Difference Test (LSD) 0,01 or 0,05.The result of this research showed that wafer with differential storage time had a signifficantly effect (P<0,01) on the water level, texture, and scent on wafer of agricultural waste. The average of water content on wafer of agricultural waste based on carrot after saved by six weeks in the amount of 42,23 %, so there was no best saving time of wafer agricultural waste based on carrot because the water content of the wafer  exceeds the standard of water content of the feed material to be saved that is 14%.   (Keywords: wafer, agricultural waste, water content, texture, color, scent)

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine texture, color, aroma, and palatability wafers with various agricultural waste compotition. The experimental design used in this research is completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and four replications. Wafer agricultural waste consists of three treatments and four replications, namely A: sweet potato 8% + potato 3% + cauliflower leaf chicory 5% + china cabbage 10%+ carrots 50% +labusiam 5%  + tomato 15.99% + molasses 3 % + salt 0.01%; B: sweet potato 15% + potato 5% + leaf cauliflower chicory 10% + China cabbage 15% + carrot 40% + labusiam 6% + tomato 5.99% + molasses 3% + salt 0.01%; C: sweet potato 20% + potato 7% + cauliflower leaf chicory 15% + China cabbage 20% + carrot 23% +labusiam 8% + tomato 3.99% + molasses 3% + salt 0.01%. The results of this study indicate that the wafer with a variety of agricultural waste composition was highly significant (P <0.01) on the color and texture of the resulting wafer, wafer agricultural waste significant (P <0.05) on the scent wafers produced. Best palatability generated on wafer composition C.

Abstract

The production of rice bran in Indonesia was 4 million ton in 2011. This big potency of rice bran hasn?t been optimally used yet as animal feedstuff, because the rice bran has short storage limit. The rice bran can?t be stored in long time because the fat content of the rice bran experiences the hydrolysis reaction easily that causes rancidity. The hydrolysis reaction happens because the reaction of fat and water content. Therefore, the water content of the rice bran must be decreased to prevent the hydrolysis reaction. The charcoal is hygroscopis, namely can absorb water, so that the use of charcoal in storage expected to be able in decreasing the water content and preventing the the hydrolysis reaction on the fat of the rice bran. This research aims to find out the effect of the use of wood and coconut shell charcoal on the organoleptic quality of colour, smell, texture, the water content, rancidity, and the fat of the rice bran stored for 4 weeks. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments. Each treatment was replicated 4 times. If the result of variance analysis is significantly different on a variable, so it?s continued by using Least Significant Different (LSD) Test on significant level 5% and 1%. The result showed that the use of the coconut shell charcoal influenced very significantly (p<1%) on the smell, water content, peroxide number of the rice bran stored for 4 weeks. The wood charcoal influenced very significantly (p<1%) on the water content and influenced significantly (p<5%) on the peroxide number. Key Word : peroxide number, rancidity, rice bran,

Abstract

This research aims to find out the influence of equilibration forage comparing concentrates to drydigestibility, organic digestibility and protein digestibility on male PE goat in the heatenvironment. Goats that were used as the sample were 3 male PE goast with body weight range(20.5 to 26.7 kg). This research used draft Longitude Cage Latin (RBSL), consisted of threetreatments (three periods), R1: 85% forage: 15% concentrate, R2: 70% forage: concentrate 30%,and R3: 55% forage: concentrate 45% . The water during the research is given by ad libitum. Theresults showed that: the equilibration forage comparing concentrates was not significant (P> 0.05)on dry digestibility, organic digestibility and protein digestibility.

Abstract

Ruminants need micro mineral for both their own requirements and rumen microbe activities. The objective of this research was to study the effect of Mn, Cu, and its combination addition in ration on the activity of in vitro fermentation using sheep rumen liquid. This research was conducted at Laboratory of Ruminant Nutrition Faculty of Animal Science Bogor Agricultural Institute. The rations were R0 = basal ration; R1 = basal ration + 40 ppm Mn; R2 = basal ration + 10 ppm Cu; dan R3 = basal ration + 40 ppm Mn + 10 ppm Cu. The result indicated that addition of Mn, Cu, or Mn+Cu did not significantly influence (P&gt;0.05) pH, NH3, bacteria and VFA; but they significantly increased (P&lt;0.01) dry matter digestibility (DMD) and organic matter digestibility (OMD). The average: pH was 4.78 ± 0.07 – 4.89 ± 0.06; NH3 was 6.77 ± 2.07 – 7.47±0,67 mM, and VFA was 93.19 ± 55.79 – 136.61±15.31 mM.  R1 gave the highest value of DMD (57.63%) and OMD (70.32%). The VFA related positively to NH3 (r = 0.86); with the equation Ý = -266.9 + 54.182 X and R2 = 0.74.  It was concluded that additional of Mn, Cu, or Mn+Cu did not alter pH, NH3, and VFA. The additional of Mn altered DMD, but additional of Mn+Cu reduced DMD and OMD. Key Words: pH, NH3, VFA, DMD, OMD

Abstract

The increase of population in Indonesia has caused farmland increasingly narrow. In contrast, the more limited availability of green feed and causing feed prices continue to rise every year.  Therefore, alternative feed resources needed are cheap, readily available, abundant in nature and highly nutritious.  Expected to be sufficient alternative feed feed shortages due to narrowing of agricultural land and reduce production costs.  This study aims to determine the elemental content of Ca, P, Mg and Zn in plant parts Kiambang (Salvinia molesta).  This research was conducted at the Batu Tegi Dam Tanggamus Lampung regency and Animal Nutrition Laboratory Department of Dairy and Nutrition Faculty of Animal Science, Bogor Agricultural University.  This research used Completely Randomized Design 5 treatments with 2 replications. Treatment consists of young leaves, old leaves, old roots, young roots and whole plants Kiambang.  The data obtained in this study were analyzed on a variety of real level of 5% and 1% Test, BNT used as a means of comparison between treatments in the real level of 5%.  The results showed that.  (1) Kiambang contain elements Ca, P and Zn in the roots of the old site, while the largest element Mg on older leaves.  (2) Kiambang (Salvinia molesta) has potential as a source of essential minerals (Ca, Mg and Zn) for organic ruminants.   Keywords: Kiambang, mineral, Batu Tegi Dam

Abstract

This study aims to determine: 1) the number of leukocytes and the differential leukocyte drake by different rations; 2) the number of leukocytes and the differential leukocyte drake best with different ration. The research was conducted in September-December 2015 Integrated Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. This study uses a group design (RK). Grouping based on body weight with a weight range K1: 150-175 grams; K2: 176-200 grams; K3: 201-225 grams, and K4: 300-325 grams with level 4 treatments. Number of male ducks are used as many as 48 ducks males to 16 the number of plots so that each plot enclosure contains tigat male ducks. Data were collected at 10% of the number of ducks that exist in each treatment in each group. The data were analyzed by analysis of variance on the real level of 5% or 1% and continued with Duncan test for the value of the variance analysis showed significantly different results. The treatment is given in the form of rations drake 1, Ration 2 Ration 3 Ration 4 which has a different nutrient content so it can be the best diet to determine the level of normal leukocytes and leukocytes diferensial. The variables in this study are the leukocytes and the differential leukocytes include lymphocytes, monocytes, heterophile, eosinophils. The results showed that different ration was not significant (P> 0.05) and (P> 0.01) to the number of leukocytes and diferensial leukocytes. Keywords: Ducks Males, Leukocyte,  Rations

Abstract

 This research aims to know the influence of various media to grow toward moisture content, protein and fat maggot as feed and knowing the kind of media to grow the best influence on moisture content, protein and fat maggot as feed.  This research was conducted in April 2017 until May 2017 in the Laboratory of Airy, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Proksimat analysis was performed in the Laboratory of Nutrition and Food for Livestock, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of agriculture, University of Lampung.  This study uses treatment of various places growing i.e.  R1 (tofu waste), R2 (for cake oil palm), R3 (fish waste), and R4 (chicken blood).  The experimental design was used, namely a complete Random Design (RAL) consists of four treatments and five replicates.  Variables in this study i.e., moisture, protein, and fat maggot generated.  Results of the study showed that treatment effect was not real (P>0.05) to moisture content, but very real effect (P<0.01) to the fat and protein content of maggot.  The best media to grow maggot found in media of the chicken blood to the protein content and the media to grow of the fat content was fish waste. Keywords: maggot, media to grow, nutrition maggot

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of various growth media to the media maggot temperatures and maggot production.  Apart from that for know about the relationship between of media pH and media temperature. The research was conducted on May 3-June 12, 2017 in the Cage Department of Animal Husbandry and Lampung State Polytechnic Analysis Laboratory. This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and five replicates media. Treatments of media include: R1 (tofu waste), R2 (palm kernel meal), R3 (fish waste) and R4 (chicken blood). The research data were analyzed variance at 5% or 1%, and a further test by Duncan test. Moreover, it also tested the relation between C/N ratio maggot media and production, as well as media temperature and pH testing media with orthogonal polynomials.  The results showed a highly significant difference in various media to the media on the morning temperature (P <0.01).  On the contrary, the influence of various media on the temperature during the day and evening was not significantly different (P> 0.05). The highest maggot production on palm kernel mealmedia with an average of 358.5 ± 65.76 gram.  The relationship between the temperature of the chicken blood media and media pH was very tight with the equation Ŷ=-47.00+2.00X, [26.0: 26.50ᴼC] and r=1. Keywords: maggot, media, temperature, pH
