Abstract

Joint modeling is intended to model longitudinal response process that affect the other primary response based on  assumption that both  processes induced by the same random effects. One of the assumptions that must be met in joint modeling is  normality  of  random  effects  and  intra-subject  error.  The  simulation  results show that the robustness of parameter estimates of joint model to the assumption of  random  effects  normality  can  be  achieved  by  increasing  the  frequency  of longitudinal observations.  Keywords:  longitudinal data,  joint modeling, robust

Abstract

Existing methods for joint modeling are usually based on normality assumption of random effects and intra subject errors. We propose a joint model based on t distribution of the intra subject errors  to improve robustness of the estimation. Our model consists of two submodels: a mixed linear mixed effects model for the longitudinal data, and a generalized linear model for continuous/binary primary response. The proposed method is evaluated by means of simulation studies as well as application to HIV data. Keywords:  joint modeling, longitudinal data, robust, t distribution

Abstract

Based on Law Number 24 of 2011, a state program was established to provide social protection and welfare for everyone, one of which is health insurance by the Social Insurance Administration Organization (BPJS). In its implementation, several important evaluations are needed. One that requires accurate evaluation is claim frequency and claim severity in determining premiums and reserved funds. This thesis provides one form of a method for selecting the distribution of claim frequency and claim severity. The data used in this study was taken from BPJS Health in the City of Tangerang in 2017. The distribution of opportunities chosen had been adjusted to the participant's claim data and parameter estimated using the Maximum Likelihood Estimation method. The chi-square test was used to check the goodness of fit for claim frequency distributions whereas the Anderson Darling tests were applied to claim severity distributions. The results of the chi-square test and the Anderson-Darling test showed that the model that matched the claim frequency distribution was the Z12M–NBGE distribution while the model that matched the claim severity was lognormal. The Z12M–NBGE distribution and the lognormal formed the aggregate loss distribution using the Monte Carlo method. Furthermore, the simulation results were obtained to the measurement of the Value in Risk (VaR) and Shortfall Expectations (ES). So, the Monte Carlo method is simple to implement the aggregate loss distributions and can easily handle various risks with dependency.

Abstract

Regression analysis is a statistical analysis to predict or explain the relationship between the response variable and one or more explanatory variables. The simplest and most commonly used regression analysis is linear regression. Copula regression is often used as an alternative method to overcome the problem of violating the assumptions of the linear regression model. The advantage of using copula regression is that the response variable does not have to follow a certain distribution and copula regression can explain nonlinear relationships. In this study, the copula used is the Gaussian copula and the student’s t copula. The main objective of this study is to compare the results of linear regression analysis with copula regression on financial data. In the linear regression method, the objective is to determine the estimated value of the response variable and to analyze the effect of macroeconomic factors on BMRI’s stock price. Meanwhile, copula regression was used to estimate the copula parameters using the Maximum Likelihood Estimation method and to determine the estimated value of the response variable using the Monte Carlo method. The measure of the accuracy of the model used is MAPE (Mean Absolute Percentage Error). This study uses financial data consisting of BMRI stock price data as response variables, as well as IHSG and the rupiah exchange rate as explanatory variables. The results showed that the MAPE values for linear regression and copula regression were small and not significantly different, meaning that both regressions were quite good in modeling financial data.
