Abstract

This research is intended to discover the procurement process of gamelan musical instruments as an effort to preserve the identity of Javanese transmigrants community in Tanah Abang village, reviewing the idea to the benefit to the community and exploring the meaning and the social values that is implied by the existence of the gamelan used by the communities to learn karawitan. The research was carried out in the Tanah Abang Jambi village, with the pengrawit and trainers as the objects, and the informants, through interview, of this research were the head of the Tanah Abang village, karawitan coach, pengrawit, and those who was part of the agent of change. The data taken was in the form of field-notes which were processed in such a way and sorted into an intact data that was easily traced. Afterward, the data was used to answers the problem statement. The results of the study conclude that the procurement process of gamelan in Tanah Abang village went through a challenging process, however; the impact that follows is quite satisfying since it brings benefits to the community and the village. The process is described through a chart to facilitate understanding. Furthermore, another important point that can be taken from the existence of a set of gamelan musical instruments is social values that can be implemented in everyday life.

Abstract

In the modern era, during the end of 17 century, appears empiric paradigm in the philosophy field. This paradigm emerges due to the critic towards mythical social thought. The next step appears positivism thought by Auguste Comte in 1830, which stated that Sociology based on science analogy that can be learned in the form of empiric data with exact calculation; out of this is rated as not scientific. The education field also trails the modern thought tradition, along with Comte’s positivistic thought. This modern era eventually has been opposed by postmodern philosophers. The frailties in the modern era are criticized by the appearance of the postmodern paradigm. Positivistic thought, in reality, could not reveal study beyond human and society, because this study is strong, and can only reach the ontologic stage, in substance of the object. While this could not be revealed because its level involves human and society’s way of thinking, primordial, tradition, and historical aspects, this study focuses on the weaknesses of positivistic research. Then it will present post-positivistic-postmodern research through Hermeneutika and Foucauldian Genealogy research.

Abstract

This research aims to unveil the types, size, figures, and functions of musical instruments carved as reliefs of Kalasan Temple as a way to revitalize the music from the 8th century. This research implements heuristic methods with Panofsky's iconology analysis in three steps, which are pre-iconography, iconography, and iconology to analyse the reliefs of the Temple. The researchers validated the findings through forum group discussion with the Cultural Heritage Preservation Board of Yogyakarta. The findings show that (1) the relief of musical instruments in Kalasan temple is located on the head of Kala; (2) the musical instruments on the head are two wind instruments made of shells and a stringed instrument named vina; (3) there are two figures of musicians carved, which are two wind instruments players and a player of stringed instruments. The figures are depicted as heavenly creatures named Gandharva; (4) the measurement shows that the wind instruments have 35.98 cm length and 12.85 cm width, another one has 23.13 cm length and 12.85 cm width. Meanwhile, the stringed instrument has a length of 92.52 cm and 12.85 cm width; and (5) the musical instruments were performed to worship the Goddess of Tara.

Abstract

Kajian ini merupakan hasil analisis kritis terhadap konsep pendidikan seni musik dengan berpusat pada orientasi humanistik. Orientasi humanistik berarti siswa dianggap sebagai subjek yang mandiri bukan sebagai objek didik.Peran pendidik disini memberikan pengalaman kepada siswa bagaimana cara untuk berekspresi, mengapresiasi, berkreasi, serta juga membentuk sebuah rangkaian harmonisasi yang melahirkan keindahan dalam rangka menumbuhkan kesadaran, kemandirian, dan tanggung jawab yang tinggi sebagai hakikat manusia yang seutuhnya. Sementara paradigm objektivasi murid dengan memberikan materi, pengetahuan hafalan dan ujian pilihan ganda menjadi model pembelajaran dominan. Penerapan pendidikan seni musik dengan berorientasi humanistik dilaksanakan penerapannya secara menyeluruh agar siswa mengerti dan mampu memahami makna inti dari belajar musik mencakup pengetahuan, keterampilan berkreativitas music dan sikap mandiri dalam penempilan musik.Kata Kunci : pendidikan musik, humanistik, subjek mandiri ABSTRACT   This study is the result of a critical analysis of the concept of music education with a humanistic orientation centered on it. Humanistic orientation means that students are considered as independent subjects, not as objects of learning. The role of educators here is to provide students with experience on how to express, appreciate, be creative, and also form a series of harmonization that gives birth to beauty to foster awareness, independence, and responsibility that high as a complete human nature. Meanwhile, the objectivation paradigm of students by providing material, rote knowledge, and multiple-choice exams is the dominant learning model. The application of music education with a humanistic orientation is carried out as a whole so that students understand and can understand the core meaning of learning music including knowledge, musical creativity skills, and independent attitudes in musical performance. Keywords: Music Education, Humanistic, Independent. Abstract

Paparan kajian dalam tulisan ini akan mengungkapkan ciri-ciri  kebudayaan material serta peranannya dalam masyarakat selanjutnya mengungkapkan cara penelitian dengan metode semiotika Roland Barthes berpaduan dengan analisis wacana. Metode kajian terlebih dahulu menjabarkan tentang kebudayaan material. Selanjutnya akan memaparkan bagaimana kebudayaan material tersebut diurai melalui analisa semiotik sehingga menjadi salah satu model pendekatan penelitian seni terhadap kebudayaan material. Hasil kajian sebagai berikut: Objek kebudayaan material seni adalah komponen material yang dapat dipersepsikan melalui sentuhan atau penglihatan hasil budi daya manusia untuk mencapai keindahan dan memenuhi kebutuhan hidup. Kebudayaan material dapat berupa: Artefak benda simbolik dalam aktifitas social,  barang-barang (goods) kebutuhan, komoditi dan aktan. Objek kebudayaan material memiliki empat peranan penting dalam kehidupan manusia yaitu sebagai (1) penanda nilai, (2) penanda identitas, (3) serta wujud jaringan kekuasaan  (4) sebagai wadah mitos. Penelitian objek kebudayaan material  seni menggunakan semiotika Roland Barthes melakukan tahapan-tahapan utama yaitu yang pertama melihat struktur seluruh tanda-tanda yang tampak dalam kajian benda material tersebut secara denotasi. Langkah kedua adalah mengkaji pesan-pesan  budaya material  tersebut malalui pesan-pesan teks, dokumen, karya sastra, literatur sesuai peristiwa dan konteksnya. Langkah ketiga adalah pencarian makna sistem sekunder dengan menelusuri  form  dan  concept-nya dan didapatkan  sign  baru, signification.  Akhirnya menemukan makna sistem sekunder yang dapat berupa metabahasa, di mana perubahan yang terjadi adalah pada bagian  ekspression  dan makna sistem sekunder perubahan yang terjadi pada bagian isi atau content-nya.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan instrumen musik angklung. Seorang pemain musik angklung biasanya hanya memainkan satu nada dari bagian melodi saja. Penelitian ini mengembangkan teknik bermain angklung sehingga seorang pemain angklung mampu memainkan melodi, harmoni, iringan, dan bas sekaligus. Seorang pemain secara simultan mampu memainkan sebuah lagu beserta iringan musiknya serta nada-nada bas yang bersesuaian. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research Development. Peneliti merancang konstruksi untuk seperangkat melodi, iringan harmoni, serta iringan bas. Proses penelitian dilalui dengan merancang produk, memvalidasi rancangan, merevisi rancangan, proses pembuatan perangkat angklung melodi, bas, dan harmoni. Revisi Produk dilakukan dengan dengan penyempurnaan teknik, uji coba pemakaian, dan akhirnya penggunaan dalam pementasan saat presentasi hasil penelitian. Hasil rancangan diwujudkan dalam pembuatan angklung model electone dan setelah menjadi wujud rangkaian melodi dimainkan tangan kanan dengan sistem tuts piano, bas angklung dimainkan dengan kaki, harmoni akor dimainkan tangan kiri. Produk kesatuan angklung ini disebut dengan angklung garbha swara. Seorang pemain mampu menghadirkan sebuah lagu dengan iringan harmoni serta pilihan nada-nada bas yang berkesesuaian dengan lagu tersebut.Kata kunci: angklung, model electone, kombinasi, garbha swara DEVELOPING MODEL OF ANGKLUNG ELECTONE ORGAN: THE COMBINATION OF BASS, HARMONY, AND MELODYAbstractThis research aims to develop angklung musical instrument. A player of angklung usually only plays one note of the melody parts only. This study developed a technique of playing the angklung so that a player is able to play the melody, harmony, and bass accompaniment simultaneously. A simultaneous player is able to play a song with musical accompaniment and bass tones corresponding. The method in this research is Research Development. The researchers designed the construction of a set of melody, harmony accompaniment, and bass accompaniment. The research process is done by designing products, validating the draft, revising the draft, manufacturing process of the melodic angklung device, bass, and harmony. Revising the product is done by perfecting the technique, testing the product, and using the product on a stage performance. The results of the draft is realized by manufacturing a model of angklung electone organ. After the model is done, a set of harmony is played using the right hand with piano keys system, angklung bass is played using the feet, harmony chords are played using the left hand. This unitary product is called angklung garbha swara. A player is able to present a song to the accompaniment of harmony as well as a large selection of bass tones that correspond with the song.Keywords: angklung, electone model, combination, garbha swara

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memproduksi seperangkat alat musik angklung yang mampu merancang bangun sehingga teknik memainkan angklung tidak digoyang dengan tangan secara manual namun tinggal menyentuh seperti  tuts piano. Angklung akan digoyang dengan penggerak baling-baling motor dinamo electric. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development dengan proses disesuaikan dengan karya musik dengan urutan sebagai berikut: pengumpulan data, desain produk, validasi desain, revisi desain, proses penciptaan karya seni, revisi penciptaan karya seni, uji coba pemakaian, pementasan angklung baling-baling motor electric dan publikasi. Rancangan hasil penelitian ini berupa: (1)  menghasilkan satu produk angklung sistem piano dengan penggerak baling-baling motor electric.(2) mengahasilkan produk pengetahuan teknik rancang bangun penggabungan melodi dengan cukup disentuh seperti  keyboard, dapat menghasilkan bunyi melodi dan trinada/akor; (3) Pada penelitian ini ada sebanyak 20 tut model piano yang mampu menggerkkan melodi angklung sebanyak 20 melodi angklung dari nada f’ hingga nada c’’’. Wilayah suara nada-nada melodi sebanyak 20 nada melodi ini mampu menyanyikan lagu-lagu , memberikan isian filler melodi maupun mengiringi akor dengan cara memainan tiga nada sekaligus; (4). Persiapan produk penelitian  angklung sistem tuts piano dengan penggerak motor electric dapat di proses untuk mendapatkan HAKI.Kata kunci: angklung, penggerak motor electric Angklung Piano with Electric Motor Propeller Abstract This research produces a set of angklung musical instruments that is able to construct a design so that the technique of playing angklung is not manually shaken by hand but just touches it like a piano key. Angklung will be shaken using the drive of a dynamo electric motor propeller. The method used in this research was Reseach and Development study that has been adjusted to musical works in the following order: data collection, product design, design validation, artwork creation, artwork revision, artwork testing, Angklung electric motor propeller staging, and publication. The results of this research consist of: (1) producing one Angklung piano system with electrical motor propeller; (2) producing knowledge about designing technique of merging melody with touch like keyboard, can produce melodic and tune/chord sounds; (3) having 20 piano-modelled keys that can play 20 Angklung melodies  from f’ to c”. These 20 melodic sound areas are able to sing some songs, provide filler melody entries or accompany chords by playing three tones at once; (4) processing the intellectual property rights for the Angklung piano system with electric motor propeller.Keywords: Angklung piano system, electrical motor, intellectual property rights.

Abstract

AbstractThe aims of this study are to find out an effective strategy in using integrated multimedia in the learning of directing in the Music Study Program FBS UNY as well as to reveal the influence of integrated multimedia on students' learning chievement in the Directing class in 2005. The study is based on a class action research, the sample of which is the students of the Non-regular program taking Basic Directing class. The research was carried out in three cycles. The data were collected through tests, observation, and interviews. The function of the test is to know the students' achievement while that of the observation and interviews is to identify the effective strategy in using the integrated multimedia. The analysis techniques applied are t-test, continued with Dunnet test. The result shows that the use of integrated multimedia in the learning  of directing made the learning process enjoyable, attractive, and made the lessons easy to understand. Abstract

Penciptaan karya seni angklung model SATB-SP ini merupakan karya seni guna mengembangkan permainan dan teknik bermnain angklung sebagai warisan budaya tak  benda UNESCO. Karya ini memiliki tujuan memadukan teori ilmu harmoni 4 suara seta sistem tuts piano untuk bermain angklung sehingga hanya dengan 4 orang pemain sudah mampu menghasilkan bunyi/suara harmoni sekualitas permainan orchestra. Metode dalam penciptaan karya seni angklung SATB-SP ini dengan metode penelitian dan pengembangan  (Research and development) dengan modifikasi pada bagian revisi penciptaan karya seni dan pementasan serta produksi masal diganti dengan publikasi masal. Hasil penciptaan karya seni angklung SATB-SP adalah sebagai beriokut: (1)  Semua aransemen paduan SATB dapat dimainkan dengan angklung SATB-SP, (2) Aransemen paduan suata sejenis, paduan suara anak dapat dimainkan dengan angklung SATB-SP, (3) Cara memainkannya mudah, satu orang bisa memainkan 3 nada atau akor, (4) Angklung SATB-SP ini dapat digabungkan dengan Symphonic Orchestra, (5) Angklung SATB-SP juga dapat digabungkan dengan musik Band dan musik tradisional lainnya seperti Gejog Lesung, (6) Alat musik ini dapat diasambelkan dengan alat-alat musik tradisional seperti: Kendang suling dsb (7) Dua orang pemain mampu membuat harmoni musik dua s/d enam nada anggota anggota akor, (8) Pementasan musik angklung tidak satu paket kerangka dan (9) alat musik ini dapat digunakan untuk melatif kreativitas kejeniusan melodi dan harmoni.
