Abstract

Di Mangggarai, Nusa Tenggara Timur masih sering dijumpai fenomena Orang Dengan Gangguan Jiwa (ODGJ) yang kurang mendapat perhatian dari keluarga. ODGJ berkeliaran di jalanan dan menjadi bahan ejekan. Bahkan, keluarga cenderung menganggap ODGJ sebagai aib yang memalukan, sehingga menyebabkan terjadinya kesalahan dalam penanganan terhadap ODGJ, yakni pemasungan. Upaya penanganan ODGJ dapat dilakukan melalui rehabilitasi dengan tujuan untuk mempersiapkan dan memampukan ODGJ hidup mandiri di masyarakat. Di Manggarai, Renceng Mose merupakan tempat rehabilitasi bagi ODGJ. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan fenomena rehabilitasi ODGJ dan implikasinya terhadap ODGJ serta keluarganya. Penelitian yang bersifat kualitatif ini membahas tentang persepsi orang Manggarai terhadap etiologi gangguan jiwa, faktor yang mempengaruhi proses dan mekanisme pengambilan keputusan sistem perawatan kesehatan ODGJ, dan implikasi penanganan rehabilitasi terhadap ODGJ dan keluarganya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penanganan rehabilitasi mampu mengembalikan ODGJ pada peran normalnya di masyarakat. Namun, stigma terhadap ODGJ dan keluarganya masih tetap ada, sehingga dapat menyebabkan ODGJ yang telah sembuh menjadi kambuh.

Abstract

A human relationship to the environment is that humans must be able to choose whether to be passive towards or need to dominate the environment. In this case the element used in the research is the adaptation of the Buton community to become salt farmers. The location used as the research site was the village of Tendakinde, Wolowae Sub district, District of Nagekeo, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The problems include, (1) How is the adaptation of Buton ethnic to the coastal environment so that they succeed in becoming salt farmers? (2) What factors cause the Buton community to adapt to the environment of the Kaburea coast so that they become salt farmers? The aim was to find out the adaptation of Buton ethnic to the coastal environment so that they succeeded in becoming salt farmers as well as factors that caused Buton ethnic groups to settle and become salt farmers in Tendakinde village, Wolowae Sub-district, Nagekeo district until now. The concept of adaptation as a human survival strategy, the concept of salt farmers, a socio-economic concept. Thus the theory used by the theory of environmental adaptation was initiated by Khon Bennet in 1976, and the theory of environmental determinism was triggered by several figures, one of which was Julian Steward. The technique of data collection is by first determining the informant, environmental observation, as well as in-depth interviews and literature studies. This data was analyzed using descriptive approach in the form of written and oral words from people and observed behavior. The initial interaction was only aimed at selling caught fish and trading copra with a barter system and to replenish drinking water supplies, but because of the increased intensity of communication it develop into a close relationship. The interaction began in 1939 and continues to be maintained as a kinship legacy. After being acculturated with Toto culture, Buton ethnic groups were introduced to how to cultivate land for farming. The procedure for processing this field is one of the elements of indigenous ethnic Toto culture as a result of their adaptation to the environment that serves the livelihood. After acculturation, the Toto ethnic group was also introduced to the procedures for shipping and fishing. They began to learn how to catch fish using bubu, knew how to read the direction when sailing using the location of star signs, as well as many new things related to the sea. Knowledge of processing the salt they obtained while sailing, finally practicing it in the village of Kaburea and ethnic Buton also managed to become salt farmers. One of the factors that influence the adaptation of Buton ethnic as salt farmers in Kaburea are environmental factors and family economic factors and socio-cultural community.

Abstract

A deaf person who has a lack or loss of hearing ability due to partial damage hearing instruments that have problems in language development. There is a tendency that a child who has often followed by a deaf mute. This condition seems difficult to avoid because the two into a series of cause and effect. This condition makes it difficult communication with society. They use symbols to convey ideas and feelings with sign language and body language such that a mutual understanding. Thus the deaf requires special treatment to shape good behavior, communicating with the environment and society relations.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the environmental conservation system based on local wisdom in Tigawasa Village, Banjar District, Buleleng Regency which is one of the villages belonging to the Bali Aga or Bali Kuna Village in Bali. The problems in this study focused on local forms of wisdom related to forest conservation and their implications for ecological and economic aspects. The theory used in this research is the interpretive theory by Connie Geertz and the etnoecological approach by Conklin and Frake. The concept used in this research is conservation, forest and local wisdom. The research method used is qualitative method, with complete data of observation, interview, literature study and document examination. The results of the research revealed that the conservation activities of customary forests conducted by the people of Tigawasa Village are based on the local wisdoms of the ancestors that are still maintained. These local wisdoms include community conceptions of the existence of forest areas, the myths that develop in the community, forest-related ritual practices and written and non-written regulations on customary forests. Tigawasa Village community considers that the customary forest in the village is a sacred area that should not be entered or utilized other than for the purposes of traditional ceremonies, so that the forest ecosystem is maintained. The implications of forest conservation based on local wisdom are the preservation of the environment of the local forest and the development of economic opportunities in the form of forest management as an ecotourism attraction.

Abstract

Subaya Village is the one of the Desa Bali Aga which is located in Kitamani, Bangli district. This village is still retaining the traditional culture which is given by their ancestors. “Naur Kelaci” is the strict regulation of the marriage for Desa Subaya people. It is held on every purnamaning sasih kasa. The poeple believe on sasihkasa to pay the kelaci, based on their reliance that sasihkasa is the best day in paying the kelaci. Naur Kelaci is the one of the last chain from the wedding ceremony of the people who had been married. Hence, based on the understanding, the problem of this research is stated as the following (1) How is the procces of the NaurKelaci in Desa Subaya? (2) What is the function of Naur Kelaci in the wedding ceremony in Desa Subaya?The proccess of NaurKelaci ceremony could be analyzed by the religious theory, while thefunction, is analyzed by the theory of fuctional structural, and simbolic interaction. NaurKelaci tradition andn wedding ceremony is the concept used in this reserach. This research used ethnography reserach method which is categorized as a qualitative research. In order to get the data, interviewing the participants was conducted. The result of this study shows that the ceremony of Naur Kelaci is purposed to avoid the doom in life especially in the family, and it is the way to purify themselves from the negativety, at once also for the village itself from the dirtiness.

Abstract

Wetu Telu people has a life passage rite which is a very sacred gawe pati rite and associated with the ancestor. Gawe pati is a rite for care of the corpses performed with custom and very different from other Lombok society. The aims of this research are to know: (a) how the implementation of gawe pati rite in Wetu Telu of Bayan Village and (b) how is the existence of gawe pati rite in Wetu Telu community.The implementation and existence of the gawe pati rite in the Wetu Telu community can be studied through the transitional rite theory A. Van Gennep and Malinowski's functionalist theory. This study uses ethnographic research methods that include data that is qualitative. The result of research is gawe pati implementation starting with Selamet Gumi nyusur tanak until nyiu as the closing of the gawe pati procession. Furthermore, the reason for the people of Wetu Telu still maintain the gawe pati rite because they believe in the blessing of the ancestors. The soul of dead relatives will have a good place in the noble realm and can give God blessing to living relatives.The existence of this rite is supported by the existence of internal an eksternal factors. In addition to the factors that support the creation of gawe pati rite, there is also a challenge factor in maintaining the existence of gawe pati rite.

Abstract

The community in Pedawa village, sub-district Banjar, districts Buleleng knows the term marriage they call with 'melaib' which is a local term which means to marry. Every man in Pedawa village who is married is obliged to make Sanggah Kemulan Nganten which is manifested in a series of wedding ceremonies. Sanggah Kemulan Nganten or also called sanggah tiing (a place of worship it made from bamboo) is a pelinggih (place of worship) symbol of the part of a new household from the individual. This study refers to understand and identify the process of the realization of Sanggah Kemulan Nganten in the marriage ceremony in the Pedawa village and, to find out and identify the meaning of Sanggah Kemulan Nganten in the life of the Pedawa village. The results of the study show that Sanggah Kemulan Nganten must be made by men. This refers to harmonize the household and block from the disease. Mandatory ceremony to establish Sanggah Kemulan Nganten is ngamputang lis. The meaning of religion from Sanggah Kemulan Nganten is to establish the belief in the existence of supernatural powers from Sanggah Kemulan Nganten. The meaning of solidarity from Sanggah Kemulan Nganten is participation and community support in the activities of establishing Sanggah Kemulan Nganten. The cultural meaning of Sanggah Kemulan Nganten is namely the pedawa village community,believes in local traditions or culture, which is in accordance with the mandate that has been passed down by generations of pedawa village ancestors.
