Abstract

The community in Sekardadi Village, sub-district Kintamani, district Bangli are the community of Bali Mula which has a variety of activities in a Hindu background which is manifested through religious ceremonies. Religious activitiy that contain traditional values ??expressed through a tradition are makawas. Makawas tradition is one of a series that has important elements in religious ceremonies that are routinely carried out by the Sekardadi village community. The research aims at finding out: (a) how the implementation and mechanism of the makawas tradition in the socio cultural life community of Bali Mula and (b) how the function of the Makawas tradition in the socio cultural life community of Bali Mula in Sekardadi Village. The results showed that makawas tradition was routinely carried out by the Sekardadi village community based on the belief of a mitohistorical in the form of gratitude and blessing. The implementation of makawas tradition starts from preparing all the ceremonial and kawas needs. Then after all the means ceremonial have been prepared, Jero Kubayan began to provide kawas and banten to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa. Further Pepare distributed the kawas to Pradulu Ulu Apad and krama pengarep. The meaning of religion from makawas tradition is manifestation of the relationship between Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa stated in one of the Tri Hita Karana elements in the form of Prahyangan which means the relationship between humans and God and as a mean for people’s life that is to form a solidarity relationship.

Abstract

Bunutin village is one of the Bali Aga villages located in Kintamani, Bali which still maintaind traditional ceremony. One of the traditional ceremonies still preserved by the Bunutin community is the Neduhin ceremony. Neduhin ceremony is a routine ritual performed by the people of Bunutin Village once every year. The aims of this research are to know: (1) Why Neduhin Ritual is implemented by the Community in Bunutin Village (2) How is the Implementation Stage of Neduhin Ritual (3) How to Function and Meaning of Neduhin ceremony in Agricultural System of Bunutin Village Community. The theory used in this research is the theory of B. Malinowski on the function of culture, the theory of E. B Tylor about religion, as well as the manifest and latent theory by Robert K. Merton. The concepts used in this research are Neduhin ceremony, Agricultural System, and Bunutin Village Community. The results revealed that the reason for the implementation of the Neduhin ceremony by the community of Bunutin Village was the ritual of apologizing to Ida Betara for causing him to be angry, so that the village of Bunutin experienced catastrophes such as crop failure in their fields. The Neduhin ceremony procession consists of three stages: The phase I (preparation of neduhin) consists of the Neratas and the Ngusaba Toya ritual. The phase II (ritual stage of neduhin) consists of the mendak tirtha by teruna, nuwur Ida Betara Kawitan, nuwur Iratu ring Pura Panti, nuwur Iratu Ida Betara Mulu Mideh, and megibung tradition by krama desa. Ritual phase III (ritual performed after neduhin) is a procession of Ngodog lidi tradition. In Neduhin ceremony there are latent and manifest functions. In addition, as for the meaning contained in the Neduhin is a religion, an education, and a welfare.

Abstract

Ngoa Ngi'i ceremony is one of the traditional ceremonies that is conducted by women in their first pregnancy, at the age of seven months of pregnancy in the Sawu Village,Mauponggo District, Nagekeo Regency of NTT. This ceremony is conducted in order to the pregnant women and the baby can be saved of invisible (supernatural) things. For Sawu Village people the Ngoa Ngi’i ceremony is a traditions that cannot be separated from their social life, if this ceremony is not conducted by them, they will take the invisible/supernatural consequences or the real consequences as a part of their law of tradition that is done for the community in the Sawu Village. The theory used in this research are; (1) The Structural Functional Theory by R. Radcliffe - Brown (2) Life Cycle Theory by Arnold Van Gennep. There are some concepts which applied, they are; Ngoa Ngi'i ceremony, ceremony, function, meaning and society. This is a qualitative and quantitative research include the methods and techniques of data analysis primary and secondary. Process of Ngoa Ngi'i ceremony is consists of oko utu, gae ba'o yeu, ti'i ka pati ae, gedho sa'o, Ngoa Ngi'i, ka sama, and dheka bako mea moro. Ngoa Ngi'i ceremony has a function, namely as a transitional status of women in the Sawu Village, pleading safety of mother and baby reinforcement, Ngoa Ngi'i as social integration, and some other meanings, such as; a religious meaning, the meaning of kinship and meaning of education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of IKMB in Sesetan Village, South Denpasar District. The theoretical frameworks and concepts used to support the theory of adaptation, assimilation theory and conceptual framework related to overseas culture for Manggarai people who live in the area or temporarily in Sesetan Village, South Denpasar Subdistrict. The method and technique of this research is divided into three, namely 1) methods and techniques in the form of participant observation and interview; 2) literature study method; And 3) data analysis techniques. The results obtained from the above research on the Manggarai family inhabiting on the island of Bali as a family existence that closely maintains each component of its own culture as well as in the Overseas lands as manifestations that mutually support each other by generating multicultural cultures and languages.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the various dynamics and attitudes of the Madurese fishing community towards changes in Kedungrejo Village. Based on the results of the analysis, this research is divided into four parts, the first is the change in Kedungrejo fishing technology from traditional to modern. Second, changes to the sea-picking ritual tradition. Third, changes in the strategy of the Kedungrejo fishing community in facing the dry season. Fourth, the attitude of the Madurese fishing community towards changes in Kedungrejo Village. Changes greatly affect the conditions that exist in the fishing community in this village, especially social and cultural values.

Abstract

Watu Bo institut server as container of eduction and preserves by reproducing traditional woven cloth passed down from the ancestor using natural substance and dyes as well traditional loom loms, not machines (ATMB). The problem formula in this research covers (1) how was the traditional binding processin the Watu Bo Workshop?, (2) what is the Watu Bo’s strategic role in the existence of traditional Weaving?. As for the purpose of this study is (1) to know the traditional weaving works in the Watu Bo cage. (2) to identify Watu Bo’s strategic role against traditional weaving.The theory used in the study, the theory of production and the theory of role, because weavers in Watu Bo industries play a part in this traditional weaving work. But among the concepts that are used: roles, Watu Bo cage, and the production of zip looms. In this study the method in use is qualitative descriptive, with primary and secondary data sources, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and library studies.Results found in studies suggest that a Watu Bo clinic produces traditional weaving, using natural materials and dyes and using loom equipment instead of maschines to produce colth. Production products are sold booth local and foregin communities. Watu Bo’s cage plays strategic role in the traditional weaving of weaving; help to boots the family economy, preserving cultural heritage, passing on the rising generation, absorbing the peach of work, tourism, and helping to preserve the environment

Abstract

Organisasi sosial adat berupa Banjar dan Desa bagi masyarakat Bali sudah tidak asing lagi. Keberadaannya selalu berurusan dengan Adat dan Agama khususnya Agama Hindu. Adapun ciri yang eksklusif daripadanya adalah keterikatan dengan tempat pemujaan yaitu Kahyangan Tiga ( Pura Desa, Pura Puseh, Pura Dalem ). Jalinan hubungan structural-fungsional akan tampak di dalam berbagai aktivitas pada ketiga Kuil tersebut. Baik sebagai pendukung tenaga maupun dana. Oleh karena itu kedua organisasi ini tidak dapat dipisahkan satu sama lain.

Abstract

Islam menjadi agama terbesar dengan penganut terbanyak di Indonesia, tidak terkecuali di Bali. Meski Bali terkenal dengan julukan “Tanah Seribu Pura”, namun bukan berarti Bali steril dari penduduk non-Hindu. Keberadaan Islam di Bali, mengundang ketertarikan peneliti terutama mengenai kehidupan mualaf. Mualaf di Bali telah tersebar tidak terkecuali di wilayah Denpasar Barat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses mualaf selama mereka mempelajari Islam. Karena tidak jarang dari mereka yang kerap mengalami kesulitan selama mempelajari Islam. Terkait dengan penelitian ini, jenis data yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara, studi pustaka, dan triangulasi, diharapkan dapat memberi gambaran terkait kehidupan para mualaf, khususnya ketika memasuki dan mempelajari Islam. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, diketahui bahwa tidak semua mualaf mengalami kemudahan dalam belajar Islam. Tentu dari mereka memerlukan adaptasi. Belum lagi adanya proses penerimaan yang tidak mudah oleh pihak keluarga, kerap semakin mempersulit mualaf untuk istiqamah dalam mempelajari Islam. Oleh karena itu, mualaf tentu perlu pendampingan dalam belajar, salah satunya melalui organisasi yang mewadahi para mualaf. Selama di organisasi tersebut, para mualaf dibina dan diajarkan mengenai konsep dasar Islam hingga tata cara ibadah yang diharapkan dapat semakin memperkuat keimanan mereka.

Abstract

Perempuan dalam sebuah rumahtangga turut berperan dalam menjaga kestabilan dan kebertahanan ekonomi keluarga, demikian yang dialami oleh sebagian besar perempuan di pedesaan.  Ketimpangan gender yang terjadi di masyarakat khususnya di pedesaan merupakan salah satu masalah  yang menarik untuk dikaji dengan berbagai pendekatan, salah satunya ilmu antropologi.Kajian berikut menganalisa  perempuan petani etnis Tengger di wilayah Desa Argosari Kecamatan Senduro Kabupaten Lumajang Jawa Timur.  Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui dan mengidentifikasi tentang strafikasi sosial perempuan di masyarakat terkait dengan status dan peran perempuan di ranah domestik dan publik. Penelitian dilakukan mengggunakan metode pendekatan etnografi sebagai salah satu varian pendekatan kualitatif.Masyarakat Tengger merupakan sub etnis Jawa, yang masih teguh memegang tradisi khususnya  mempertahankan sebagian budaya jaman Majapahit, terlebih masyarakat Tengger Argosari.  Mereka meyakini keturunan Roro Anteng dan Joko Seger.  Dibalik  legenda Roro Anteng dan Joko Seger yang merupakan  folklore tentang asal usul etnis Tengger, memiliki makna sebagai  visi tentang kesetaraan gender.  Tradisi Tengger menempatkan para perempuan dalam kehidupan keluarga, masyarakat, dan ritual. Tradisi Tengger menganggap laki-laki dan perempuan mempunyai posisi yang sederajat, sama-sama berperan dalam kehidupan keluarga maupun masyarakat.

Abstract

This study is aimed to recognize the meaning and the process of mayah ketekan tradition and to discover the implication of this tradition to the social boundary within the society of Banjar Lawak. The method applied in this study is the ethnographical method which is involved in qualitative method. The method of collecting data conducted in this study includes the following techniques, observation, interview, and literature review. This study has discovered that the tradition of mayah ketekan still carries meaningful values for the society of Banjar Lawak in depth; thus, this tradition is still conducted although it has changed in some aspects within the tradition. In addition, the implication of the mayah ketekan tradition involves the strengthened social boundary within the society of Banjar Lawak in the occasion of piodalan purnama kapat, when the tradition of mayah ketekan is conducted.
