Abstract

Studi reaksi co-pirolisis mikroalga Botryococcus braunii dan Victorian brown coal dengan thermogravimetric analyser telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mempelajari potensi dari campuran Botryococcus braunii dan Victorian brown coal sebagai sumber bahan bakar. Co-pirolisis dilakukan dengan empat variasi laju pemanasan yaitu 10, 15, 20 dan 25 ºC/menit menggunakan Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA). Rentang suhu reaksi co-pirolisis aktif Botryococcus braunii dan Victorian brown coal berkisar antara 155,79 ºC hingga 545,27 ºC yang terjadi dalam tiga tahapan. Tahapan pertama adalah penguapan air dan senyawa volatil (20-200 ℃), tahapan kedua yaitu co-pirolisis aktif (250-500 ℃) dan tahapan ketiga yaitu dekomposisi lignin dan senyawa karbon yang terkandung dalam campuran mikroalga dan batubara (500-800 ℃). Abstract

Pirolisis mikroalga Botryococcus braunii dengan Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA) telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari karakteristik dan potensi mikroalga B. braunii sebagai sumber energi terbarukan melalui proses pirolisis. Pirolisis dilakukan dengan empat variasi laju pemanasan yaitu 10, 15, 20 dan 25 °C/menit. Berdasarkan hasil karakterisasi, B. braunii memiliki kadar air 5,01 ± 0,42%, kadar abu 27,44 ± 1,11%. Kurva TG dan dTG pirolisis B. Braunii menunjukan rentang suhu untuk reaksi pirolisis aktif mikroalga B. braunii adalah antara 150 – 550 °C, dimana terjadi proses degradasi biomassa yang terdiri dari dekomposisi karbohidrat, protein dan lipid. Abstract

Interaction study of active compounds of a medicinal plant with cervical cancer cells using the Docking Molecular (In Silico) method. In this research design the active compound sophoraflavanone B, 5,7,3 ', 4'-tetrahidroxy-3,6-diprenylflavone, apigenin and quercetin are first calculated using a quantum approach based on SCF method set 3-21G to obtain a stable compound form and has the lowest energy. Stable compounds interact with cervical cancer cells obtained from protein bank data (GDP) that have been prepared previously to obtain an inhibitory energy value, the number of hydrogen bonds and other factors that influence a Docking Molecular calculation. The interaction of compounds 5,7,3 ', 4'-tetrahydroxy-3,6-diprenylflavone against E6-HPV of 4 hydrogen bonds with a distance of 2.7-3.23 Å.

Abstract

Hydrogen is an alternative energy source for fossil fuels. One of molecules that have an ability to store hydrogen is Semibuckminsterfullerene. This study was conducted to find out the optimum distance in adding hydrogen and the phenomenon of energy produced when adding hydrogen from 10 molecules to 100 molecules. Semibuckminsterfullerene was calculated using Density Functional Theory method, B3LYP with a basis set of 6-31G*. The optimum distance of Semibuckminsterfullerene with hydrogen was 3 ? Furthermore, the results of adding hydrogen from 10 to 100 molecules showed a decrease in energy due to the bowl-shaped structure of Semibuckminsterfullerene

Abstract

Mata pelajaran kimia merupakan mata pelajaran di tingkat sekolah menengah atas yang sering dianggap sulit dipahami oleh siswa. Tantangan yang sering dihadapi oleh sebagian guru kimia di tingkat Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) di kota Samarinda adalah meningkatkan minat dan motivasi siswa untuk belajar kimia dan memahami konsep-konsep dalam kimia yang sebagian bersifat abstrak. Pemakaian media pembelajaran dalam pengajaran kimia menjadi salah satu solusi untuk membantu guru meningkatkan sifat positif siswa terhadap mata pelajaran. Untuk itu diperlukan pelatihan penggunaan media pembelajaran kimia interaktif agar suasana belajar yang menyenangkan dapat tercipta. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah meningkatkan pemahaman guru kimia di kota Samarinda akan pentingnya penggunaan media pembelajaran. Selain itu kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan penggunaan media pembelajaran kimia berupa chemistry board games. Tiga media pembelajaran yang digunakan adalah chemipoly (monopoli kimia), ular tangga kimia dan kartu unsur. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini berupa training/pelatihan kepada guru-guru SMA tentang penggunaan chemistry board games dalam pengajaran kimia kepada siswa. Hasil yang diperoleh pada pelatihan ini adalah meningkatnya pemahaman guru kimia akan pentingnya media pembelajaran dalam kelas dan meningkatnya pemahaman dan kemampuan guru dalam menggunakan tiga media pembelajaran dalam pengajaran kimia, khususnya pada materi tabel periodik unsur dan sifat fisik dan kimia unsur-unsur kimia. Penggunaan media pembelajaran kimia mampu meningkatkan minat dan motivasi siswa SMA di kota Samarinda yang mengikuti pelatihan ini.

Abstract

Studi kinetika reaksi pirolisis makroalga Eucheuma cottonii secara termogravimetri dengan metode Friedman telah dilakukan. Proses pirolisis dilakukan dengan variasi laju pemanasan (5-20 ℃/menit) menggunakan instrumen Thermogravimetric Analyzer. Makroalga hijau E. cottonii memiliki kandungan kimia yaitu karbohidrat (13,38 %), protein total (59,29 mg/g), lipid (0,05 %) dan serat kasar (10,75 %). Rentang suhu pirolisis aktif E. cottonii berkisar di suhu 140-610 ℃. Kenaikan laju pemanasan meningkatkan suhu awal dan akhir pirolisis. Nilai energi aktivasi rata-rata pirolisis E. cottonii sebesar 204,55 kJ/mol.

Abstract

Aeroplysinin-1 is naturally found from marine sponges as an anti-bacterial compound. Computational calculation and molecular docking were performed for aeroplysinin. Aeroplysinin as an inhibitor has optimized in the gas phase using DFT with 6-31G(d) functional. The structure from geometry optimization of aeroplysinin-1is, not in one plane. The interaction of aeroplysinin-1 with two different DNA gyrase from E. Coli and S. Aureus. In this research,aeroplysinin-1 can inhibit the protein with the free binding energy of about -5.7 kcal/mol and -6.35 kcal/mol, respectively, for E. Coli and S. Aureus. The dominant molecular interaction is the hydrogen bond.

Abstract

Eugenol is the active molecule naturally found in clove oil. The calculations have been done for the eugenol and its derivatives computationally. This computational calculation aims to obtain a stable structure and electronic properties of eugenol, methyl eugenol, and acetyl eugenol. The computational calculation used DFT for geometry optimization in the gas phase using B3LYP functional and 6-31G(d) as the basis set. The optimized structure of eugenol and its derivatives is not planar. The presence of methoxy replacing hydroxy increases the bond length and decreases the bond angle and the dihedral. The electronic properties such as atomic charge and density of HOMO-LUMO show the difference between the three molecules.

Abstract

The availability of energy sources such as coal and oil is getting thinner every year. Sunlight is one of the most abundant sources of energy on earth. Solar cells can convert this energy into electricity and over time, dye-Sensitized solar cells (DSSC) have the potential to be developed because they have good efficiency. However, the use of synthetic dyes is difficult to obtain and is toxic because it contains heavy metals. Therefore, natural dyes are used as alternative materials in the fabrication of DSSC. The purpose of this article is to review the results of research on DSSC using natural dyes. The method used in this research is the literature review method. The results of the literature review show that the DSSC made with TiO2 semiconductor and natural dyes has a good efficiency of about 0,592 %. Natural dyes can be obtained by extracting plants containing anthocyanins, curcumin and chlorophyll such as red cabbage, turmeric and pandan leaves, what's interesting is that using 2 different types of natural dyes will produce higher efficiency than 1 type of dye. In addition, treatment factors such as dye extraction, the amount of TiO2 used and the length of immersion into the dye also affect the efficiency of the DSSC. Abstract

Synthesis and characterization of mesoporous silica material SBA-15 with ultrasonic assisted sol-gel method using acetic acid solvent has been conducted. The mesoporous silica material SBA-15 was characterized by N2 adsorption/desorption Analysis, Small Angle X-Ray Diffraction (SAXRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). SBA-15 material resulted from the calcination method for template removal has a surface of 876 m2/g, a pore volume of 5,1 cm3/g and a pore diameter of 1,13 nm. The SAXRD pattern of SBA-15 showed three distinctive peaks with Miller indeces of 100, 110 and 200 respectively. The morphology of the SBA-15 material has the form of aggregate particles with a reguler cylindrical structure on the particles. Infrared spectra of SBA-15 showed the presence of functional groups, namely Si-O-Si, Si-OH and –OH. Keywords: Mesoporous silica, SBA-15, sonication
