Abstract

ABSTRAKBerdasarkan hasil analisis wawancara terhadap guru-guru di SDIT NU Telukjambe Timur dan Sekolah Islam At-Taubah Karawang yang dilakukan pada bulan Maret 2018 di sekolah masing-masing teridentifikasi beberapa masalah pembelajaran di kelas, yakni: 1) rendahnya kesadaran guru akan pentingnya Teknologi, Informasi, dan Komunikasi (TIK) dalam pembelajaran; 2) kurangnya pemanfaatan media pembelajaran di kelas; 3) rendahnya paparan (exposure) siswa terhadap akses materi ajar dan latihan yang interaktif dan menyenangkan; dan 4) Metode belajar konvensional yang kurang memotivasi siswa untuk belajar. Permasalahan yang teridentifikasi tersebut merupakan permasalahan yang mendesak untuk segera diatasi terutama mengenai rendahnya keasadaran guru dalam penguasaan teknologi dan menciptakan kelas multimedia. Tujuan dari pelatihan ini adalah memberikan ketrampilan bagi guru-guru dalam mengembangkan bahan ajar berbasis ICT menggunankan  Hot Potatoes. Hot Potatoes merupakan tool atau aplikasi untuk membuat Bank Soal interaktif berbasis web. Program Hot Potatoes terdiri atas enam program yang dapat digunakan untuk membuat materi pengajaran secara interaktif berbasis web. Aplikasi ini memungkinkan siswa untuk untuk mengakses soal-soal latihan materi pembelajaran. Metode pelatihan adalah dengan ceramah tentang Hot Potatoes, praktek secara langsung dan pendampingan pembuatan  media  pembelajaran berbasis Hot Potatoes.Pelatihan ini telah berhasil memberikan solusi terhadap permasalahan tersebut dengan memperkenalkan media yang memuat soal-soal yang interaktif, kreatif, dan menyenangkan sebagai media untuk berlatih siswa. Kata Kunci : Bahan ajar ICT, Hot Potatoes

Abstract

Berdasarkan hasil analisis wawancara terhadap guru-guru di RA. At- Taqwa Pakis JayaKarawang yang dilakukan pada bulan Agustus 2019 teridentifikasi beberapa masalah pembelajarandi kelas, yakni: rendahnya kesadaran guru dan kurangnya pemanfaatan akan pentingnya penggunaanmedia pembelajaran serta masih banyak guru yang belum memiliki keterampilan tentangpengembangan media pembelajaran, khususnya pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Selain itu, jaraksekolah yang letaknya cukup jauh dari perkotaan menyebabkan kurangnya guru-guru dalammendapatkan pengetahuan pengembangan media pembelajaran. Penggunaan media pembelajaransangatlah penting untuk membuat suasana belajar yang kreatif dan imajinatif. Salah satu media yangtepat berdasarkan prinsip tersebut adalah Pop-Up Book. Tujuan dari pelatihan ini adalahmemberikan keterampilan bagi guru-guru dalam pembuatan Pop Up Book sebagai mediapembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini adalah Model ADDIEyang meliputi: (1) Analysis (Analisis), (2) Design (Desain), (3) Develop (Pengembangan), (4)Implementation (Implementasi), dan (5) Evaluation (Evaluasi). Pelatihan ini telah berhasilmemberikan solusi terhadap permasalahan dengan memperkenalkan media Pop Up Book yangmenarik dalam proses belajar mengajar.

Abstract

Kondisi dunia usaha saat ini menuntut lulusan SMK harus memiliki kualitas yang unggul di bidang vokasi dan bidang penunjang lainnya yang bersifat universal yaitu kemampuan berkomunikasi secara lisan dan tulisan menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Kemampuan berbahasa Inggris adalah persyaratan yang secara frekuensi lebih banyak muncul di setiap lowongan pekerjaan. Peserta didik di SMK Bhinneka Karawang ini secara umum belum memiliki kemampuan berbahasa Inggris yang baik, dalam segi berbicara maupun dalam tulisan. Hal ini terjadi karena kurangnya minat peserta didik dalam menulis teks berbahasa Inggris yang kemudian diterapkan dalam penulisan surat-surat formal untuk bisnis atau business letter. Peserta didik selalu beranggapan bahwa menulis surat-surat formal berbahasa Inggris sangat sulit karena kebanyakan dari mereka tidak menguasai vocabualry atau kosakata yang tepat untuk membuat kalimat yang baik. Oleh karena itu dosen-dosen dari Universitas Singaperbangsa mengadakan pengabdian masyarakat di SMK Bhinneka Karawang dalam bentuk pelatihan penulisan business letter untuk peserta didik kelas XII pada program keahlian Administrasi Perkantoran. Pelatihan dan  pendampingan dilakukan sebanyak 3 kali setiap hari sabtu mulai dari tanggal 8, 15, dan 22 Februari 2020, pukul 08.30 s/d 11.30 wib. Kegiatan ini diawali dengan melakukan koordinasi terlebih dahulu dengan kepala sekolah dan wakil kepala sekolah bidang kurikulum yang kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan dan pendampingan penulisan business letter pada peserta didik kelas XII program keahilian Administrasi Perkantoran di SMK Bhinneka Karawang. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Model ADDIE yang meliputi: (1) Analysis (Analisis), (2) Design (Desain), (3) Develop (Pengembangan), (4) Implementation (Implementasi), dan (4) Evaluation (Evaluasi). Berdasarkan kegiatan yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) Pelaksanaan pelatihan sangat mendukung kegiatan belajar mengajar peserta didik di kelas, (2) peserta didik sangat bersemangat dalam melakukan pelatihan. Hal ini memberikan ide bahwa sangat perlu dilakukan pelatihan penulisan business letter bagi peserta didik program keahlian Administrasi Perkantoran di sekolah-sekolah lain dengan harapan para peserta didik mendapatkan bekal, nilai tambah dan kompetensi baru dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan investigasi terhadap kesulitan-kesulitan yang dihadapi mahasiswa PIAUD dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Design yang digunakan adalah kualitatif. Hasil dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa S1 Prodi PIAUD menemukan kesulitan-kesulitan dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Kesulitan tersebut disebabkan oleh faktor kompetensi dan ketidaksiapan mahasiswa serta disebabkan pula oleh kondisi mahasiswa yang masih memiliki kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang sangat kurang, seperti: kurangnya penguasaan grammar, kosakata, dan pengucapan kata. Dari penelitian ini diharapkan agar mahasiswa dapat meningkatkan keterampilan dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

ABSTRAKKemajuan teknologi membangun perubahan dalam berbagai bidang, khususnya dalam bidang pendidikan. Semua elemen dalam bidang tersebut dituntut untuk dapat memanfaatkan perkembangan teknologi, seperti hal nya guru yang harus mampu beralih dari penggunaan modul cetak ke modul elektronik (e-modul). Tujuan dari pelaksanaan program pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk meningkatkan dan melatih keterampilan teknologi para guru bahasa Inggris SMK di Karawang. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan memberikan pendampingan membuat e-modul interaktif berbasis Content Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) menggunakan Sigil Software kepada 15 orang guru Bahasa Inggris SMK di Karawang. Pendampingan pembuatan e-modul ini dilakukan dengan metode ceramah, tanya jawab, serta praktik pembuatan e-modul. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di laboratorium komputer SMK Saintek Nurul Muslimin. Hasil dari pelaksanaan kegiatan ini menunjukan bahwa program pengadian kepada masyarakat mampu meningkatkan kompetensi para guru bahasa Inggris dalam penguasaan materi dan pengajaran sesuai dengan jurusan bidang keahlian di sekolah. Selain itu, dapat memberikan manfaat yang sangat besar dan tepat sasaran bagi guru Bahasa Inggris. Bentuk pendampingan seperti ini merupakan bentuk yang sangat efektif untuk memberikan tambahan wawasan serta pengetahuan baru di bidang teknologi informasi di luar proses pembelajaran yang sekolah berikan untuk meningkatkan kualitas guru. Kata kunci: bahasa inggris; content language integrated learning (clil); e-modul; pendampingan; sigil software. ABSTRACTThe Advances in technology build changes in various fields, especially in the field of education. All elements in these fields can take advantage of technological developments, such as teachers who must be able to switch from using print modules to electronic modules (e-modules). This community service activity is carried out by providing assistance in the form of interactive e-modules based on Content Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) using Sigil Software to 15 English Vocational High School teachers in Karawang. Assistance in the manufacture of e-modules is carried out by means of lectures, questions and answers, and the practice of making e-modules. This activity was carried out in the computer laboratory of SMK Saintek Nurul Muslimin. The purpose of implementing this community service program is to improve and train the technology skills of vocational English teachers in Karawang. The results of the implementation of this activity show that the community service program is able to improve the competence of English teachers in mastering the material and teaching in accordance with the field of expertise at school. In addition, it can provide enormous and targeted benefits for English teachers. This form of assistance is a very effective form of providing additional insight and new knowledge in the field of technology outside of the learning process provided by schools to improve the quality of teachers.             Keywords: assistance; e-modul; english language; content language integrated learning (clil); sigil software.

Abstract

Recently there has been a spate of interest on the flipped classroom that is the new learning model on education. Flipped classroom learning model is when the teacher giving material online through internet (outside the classroom). Students’ learning to understand the topic or material at home and conducting discussions or questions and answers, where the teacher answers the difficulties of students related material in the classroom. The teacher ask students with some of questions to check the students’ comprehension. In this research, focused on Flipped classroom model in teaching reading comprehension: students responses. The purpose of this research to find out the flipped classroom learning model is incorporated technology assisted and then to find out the flipped classroom learning model responded balance by students’. In research site and participant the researcher involved 36 students, 6 students as participants from second grade of Senior High School 1 Karawang West Java, with study objective sampling by using qualitative narrative inquiry method. To collect the data the researcher used three instrument that is reflective journal, interview and documentation. For data analysis technique the researcher used thematic analysis by Braun & Clark (2006) which is read the data deeply, transcribe, code, categorize, and interpret the data to analyze the data. The result of the research shown that students have positive responses. There are 5 students’ have the same positive responses that is students’ more comfortable to learning, get better understanding the material, make them active discuss in classroom. But 1 of students’ have a negative responded that is the condition of the classroom not conducive make her not really understood the material. It can be concluded that the flipped classroom learning model responded balance by students. The most of students more comfortable to learning the material first at home before teaching and learning in the classroom make them understand better, students more active to express their though in discussion session and also the process of learning was more interesting and helpful of them.

Abstract

This study is aimed to find out the strengths and the weaknesses of schoology in teaching and learning speaking and the student’s perception on the implementing schoology in teaching and learning speaking. For this research the researchers took six students of 10th grade. Qualitative was chosen as research approach to answer the research questions, while the research methodology used in this paper was narrative inquiry. The research instruments that was used in this research are interview guideline, students’ and teachers’ reflective journal questions. The data were collected by doing the three techniques: interview, reflective journal and documentation. The data analysis used thematic analysis. The finding of this research is divided into two themes: understanding schoology as an instructional media in learning speaking and student's experience of schoology in learning speaking. In this research, the researchers find out some the strengths and the weaknesses of the schoology and the students' perception of the implementing schoology in teaching and learning speaking. (1) The advantages of using schoology in teaching and learning speaking are easy to access, easy to send assignment, students can get direct feedback from the teacher personally, the features are appealing. There is no significant weaknesses of the schoology in speaking, the only weaknesses that teachers and students face are those related to internet signals. (2) The students' perception towards the implementation of schoology has a positive perception and impression because they can express their ideas in the process of learning speaking. As the conclusion, schoology is very helpful in teaching and learning speaking process, however, the teachers need to pay more attention on the weaknesses. From these research, we can anticipate the troubles that will happen and hopes that this research becomes alternative for teachers in teaching speaking.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the students’ engagement in implementing the stage of peer feedback in learning recount text writing skill and the students’ perception toward the peer feedback strategy in learning recount text writing skill. This study was collected using qualitative approach which provided descriptive explanation. The subject of this study were four junior high school students. Since these days COVID-19 was still happening, this research didn’t carried out in school instead of through Zoom Meeting for the first meeting and the second meeting at researcher’s place within the health protocols. The instruments of this study were field note and questionnaire. Moreover, the result found that the students engagement in implementing each stage of peer feedback strategy were very good. Furthermore, the students perception toward peer feedback strategy were as follow, (1) peer feedback technique helped them in learning writing recount texts, (2) peers' comments and suggestions had an impact for them to be better in writing recount text, (3) having problems while checking their peers’ works since they were lack of grammatical and limit in vocabullaries. Keywords:  Peer feedback, Writing Recount Text, Students’ Engagement, Students’ Perception

Abstract

The purpose of this research wants to know the effect both grammar mastery and critical thinking towards student’s descriptive writing skill. It wants to know the effect of grammar mastery towards student’s descriptive writing skill. And then, it wants to know the effect of critical thinking towards student’s descriptive writing skill. Research method is a survey research which is taken from 90 students that are chosen randomly sampling technique at private senior high school in Karawang. There are several instruments, which are used in viewing the relationship between two independent variables (grammar mastery and critical thinking) and one dependent variable (descriptive writing skill), namely: (1) multiple choice test to measure the level of knowledge grammar mastery, (2) questionnaires to measure the level of cognitive in critical thinking, and (3) writing test to measure student’s ability in terms of descriptive writing skill. Data analysis technique used SPSS Version 16.0. The result of the research shown that (1) both grammars learned by student and critical thinking ability have effects on the student’s writing skill. This is evidence of the value both independent variables are Fcount = 339,539 and sig as big as 0,000 < 0,05. (2) grammar learnt by the students has effect on the student’s descriptive writing skill, this is evidenced by tcount  = 26,037 and sig as big as 0,000 < 0,05. (3) critical thinking ability has no effect on the student’s descriptive writing skill, this is evidence by tcount = 0,858 and sig as big as 0,393 > 0,05.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate EFL students’ experiences that appear in EFL students during the application of the flipped classroom learning model. The research was conducted by using a qualitative approach and descriptive method. The research participants were nine first-grade students at one of the public senior high school in Karawang. The participants were divided into three groups: three low-level students, three middle-level students, and three high-level students. To collect the data, researchers used were observation, interview, and documentation. This research found that the application of a flipped classroom provided positive experiences for students. The use of the video in this learning model made students excited. However, the use of online flipped classrooms appeared several challenges such as students must have internet access while they were learning and the internet connection, they have must be stable so that learning activities run well.
