Abstract

At Latest ten years, the paddy land at Tangga Batu area is use changed into plantation. This research was conducted to study characteristics of soil at some land uses ( paddy, rubber- cacao, and palm of 1,5 and 10 years old ).Soil sampling is conducted by using survey method. Soil samples are taken as soil sample disturbed and non distrubed at three (3) points in eachs land use randomly. The result showed that there is decreasing of total nitrogen at plantation and increasing of P- available at mixed farm (rubber – cacao). There are no changes of soil characteristics such us like potassiumexchange, pH, soil permeability, soil texture, and soil respirationat some land uses ( paddy, rubber- cacao, and palm of 1,5 and 10 years old ).Keywords: soil characteristics,agriculture land conversion.

Abstract

Pengolahan tanah secara intensif tanpa memperhatikan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya dapat menurunkan kualitas tanah. Indeks plastisitas tanah pada lahan yang dibudidayakan dengan tanaman berbeda membutuhkan pengolahan tanah yang berbeda. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji faktor-faktor dominan yang mempengaruhi indeks plastisitas tanah di lahan Kecamatan Pamatang Sidamanik pada budidaya yang berbeda. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode survei. Sampel diambil secara acak dengan jumlah sampel yang diambil pada ordo tanah yakni 27 untuk lahan  kopi, 12 untuk lahan teh dan 21 untuk lahan hortikultura. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara dominan indeks plastisitas tanah pada lahan yang ditanami kopi, teh dan hortikultura termasuk kriteria rendah serta bahan organik merupakan faktor paling besar yang mempengaruhi indeks plastisitas tanah dengan nilai pengaruh sebesar 54,949%.

Abstract

Pengolahan tanah secara intensif tanpa memperhatikan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya dapat menurunkan kualitas tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan kadar liat, bahan organik serta kandungan air terhadap indeks plastisitas tanah di Kecamatan Jorlang Hataran Kabupaten Simalungun pada jenis tanah Andisol pada bulan Mei sampai dengan Nopember 2015. Data diolah dengan menggunakan analisis regresi berganda dan sederhana dengan faktor independent yaitu kadar liat, bahan organik, kandungan air dan faktor yang dipengaruhi yaitu indeks plastisitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa indeks plastisitas pada tanah Andisol berkisar antara 0,28% – 10,24%, sebagian besar dalam kondisi kurang plastis. Tidak terdapat hubungan regeresi linear berganda antara kadar liat, bahan organik dan kandungan air terhadap indeks plastisitas, namun pada regresi sederhana terdapat hubungan antara kadar liat dengan indeks plastisitas tanah. Kadar liat merupakan faktor yang paling mempengaruhi indeks plastisitas pada tanah Andisol dengan nilai koefisien korelasi (r) sebesar 0,476.

Abstract

Soil biota plays an important role several processes in soil. They are enchancing plant growth as inorganic fertilizer such as NPK complete fertilizer. This research was conducted to study population of some species of bacteria at Gajah Village, Sei Balai Subdistrict, Batubara District. The research was a survey by purposive sampling method that aimed to compare soil bacterial population (Azotobacter spp., Bacillus spp. and Lactobacillus spp.) in the oil palm’s weeded circle. The research was done by taking 60 soil samples in the oil palm’s weeded circle. The result showed that the population of bacteria Azotobacter spp. around the weeded circle of oil palm applied with the NPK complete differed with the oil palm’s weeded circle that has not been given a NPK complete fertilizer. The relationship between the occurrences of soil bacteria with the soil properties showed that the presence of Bacillus spp. affected the water soil content and the nitrogen total.   Keywords: Azotobacter spp., Bacillus spp., Lactobacillus spp., NPK complete fertilizer

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this study to know effect of some ameliorants by toba plateau peat’s chemical characteristic for growth and production Ciherang. The study was conducted at greenhouse of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara and analysed at PT.Socfin Indonesia and Laboratories Research and Technology. This research used randomized block design non factorial with eight treatments there were G0 (control), G1 (volcanic ash 250 g / pot), G2 steel slag 50 g / pot), G3 (seawater 250 ml / pot), G4 (volcanic ash 250 g + steel slag 50 g / pot), G5 (volcanic ash 250 g + seawater 250 ml / pot), G6 (steel slag 50 g + seawater 250 ml / pot), G7 (volcanic ash 250 g + steel slag 50 g + sea water 250 ml / pot) with three replications. The results showed ameliorant steel slag 50 g increased the soil up to pH 4:35, combinations volcanic ash 250 g and the steel slag 50 g increased the electrical conductivity up to 0,194 mmhos/cm and combination of volcanic ash 250 g and the 50 g of steel slag increased rice growth there are toba highland peat 107,3 cm in height, 25 clumps in number of vegetatif and generatif tillers and reduce the percentage of empty grain up to 78.73%, %, and aplication combination ameliorant volcanic ash 250 g with 50 g of steel slag as well as sea water 250 ml increase the production of rice plants / pots and grain weight 1000 grain with the value of each 24.12 grams and 21.47 grams Top of Form   Keywords: Highland Toba peat, Rice Ciherang variety, Seawater, Steel slag, Volcanic ash

Abstract

Solid waste of cigarette paper factory does not contain hazard and toxic materials but contain CaCO3as a lime material. The research of was conducted to study effect of application of solid waste fromthe cigarette paper factory to improve soil properties at Ultisol Tambunan A. This research wasconducted at the Laboratory of Soil Physics, Agriculture Faculty and analytic laboratory of socfindocompany from May until June 2016. The research used non factorial completely randomized designconsist (CRD) of four (4) treatment solid waste (cigarette paper factory) and five (5) replications,there are: L0 (control), L1 (0,4 g), L2 (0,6 g), and L3 (0.8 g). The results showed that the applicationof solid waste from cigarette paper significantly increase soil pH, P-available, Ca-exchangeble butnot significantly increase K-exchangeable and organic carbon of Ultisol. Application of solid wastefrom cigarette paper significantly decrease Al-exchangeable and no significantly decrease Alsaturatedof Ultisol.Keyword : Solid waste of cigarette paper, Ultisol

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki banyak tanaman berkhasiat, diantaranya adalah daun nimba, daun tembakau, daun ubi karet, buah mengkudu, dan buah pinang. Bahan-bahan tersebut mengandung xeronine, sterol, alizarin, glisin, natrium, asam kaprilat, arginin, prokserin, antra kuinin, trace elemens, fenilalanin, niclos amida, magnesium terpenoid, zat antibakteri, asam arkobat, dan scopeletin sehingga dapat dijadikan tanaman herbal dan biopestisida ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan sebuah formula efektif yang dapat digunakan sebagai biopestisida untuk mengendalikan hama keong mas yang menyerang fase vegetatif tanaman padi. Penelitian dilakukan sejak bulan Mei sampai Juli 2017 menggunakan metode non faktorial secara acak di lokasi pertanaman padi di Desa Lae Parira, Dairi, Sumatera Utara. Desain dengan 6 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan yaitu daun nimba  sebagai kontrol, daun tembakau, daun ubi karet, buah mengkudu, daun pepaya, dan buah pinang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, keenam biopestisida berpengaruh signifikan terhadap persentase kematian keong mas dan persentase rumpun padi terserang. Nilai korelasi Pearson pada persentase kematian keong mas dan persentase tanaman padi yang terkena serangan menunjukkan hubungan yang sangat signifikan. Daun nimba adalah biopestisida terbaik dalam mengendalikan molusisida, diikuti oleh buah pinang, daun tembakau, daun ubi karet, buah mengkudu dan daun pepaya. Kematian 100% keong mas akan mencegah kerusakan rumpun tanaman padi sehingga dapat meningkatkan produktivitas pertanian dan menjaga ketahanan pangan, khususnya di Dairi, Sumatera Utara.ABSTRACTIn Indonesia, many plantation as use as beneficial plants. This study aims to obtain an effective formula that can be used as a biopesticide to control snail pests during the vegetative phase from May to July 2017 using random non-factorial methods at two rice planting locations in the Village Lae parira, Dairi, North Sumatra. Design with 6 treatments and 3 replicates (ie control, neem leaves (Azadirachta indica), tobacco leaf (Nicotiana tabacum), sweet potato leaf (Manihot glaziovii), noni fruit, Morinda citrifolia, and betel nut (Areca catechu) and papaya (Carica papaya) as an eco-friendly herbaceous and biopesticide. Based on the study recorded in sampling for 7 days with 6 treatments had significant effect on the percentage affected by the clump of rice attacked and the percentage of death. Pearson correlation value recorded percentage of death and percentage of impacted  showed a very significant relationship. Neem is the best biopesticide in controlling mollusicides, followed by betel nuts, tobacco, poisonous yams and noni. Death of 100% snail mas will prevent damage to the clump of rice plants Dairi, North Sumatra. All biopesticide treatments were tested to control snail pests in rice plants that will increase agicultural productivity in maintaining food security in Dairi, North Sumatra.

Abstract

Biovermi adalah pupuk hayati dengan menggunakan vermikompos sebagai bahan pembawa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dosis kitosan dan biovermi terbaik untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman tomat ceri (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill, var. Cerasiforme). Rancangan yang digunakan pada penelitian yaitu rancangan acak kelompok faktorial yang terdiri dari 2 faktor dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama kitosan yang terdiri dari 3 perlakuan yaitu : control (0 ppm); kitosan cangkang kepiting (250 ppm) dan kitosan jamur Syncephalastrum (250 ppm). Faktor kedua dosis biovermi dengan 4 taraf yaitu : 0; 50; 100 dan 150 g tanaman-1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kitosan tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata secara statistik terhadap perubahan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang, bobot kering tajuk, bobot kering akar, serapan N dan populasi mikroba. Pemberian biovermi dengan dosis 150 g tanaman-1 berpengaruh nyata meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang, bobot kering tajuk, bobot kering akar, serapan N dan populasi mikroba. Interaksi pemberian kombinasi kitosan dan biovermi tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata pada tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang, bobot kering tajuk, bobot kering akar, serapan N dan populasi mikroba.
