Abstract

Introduction: banana peels just end up in the trash to date. It needs to be thought of waste processing into a more useful product for health. This study aims to determine the effect of peel extract (Musa Paradisiaca var. kapok) toward the blood sugar level of New Zealand White (NZW) rabbits which have diabetes hyperlipidemia. Method: 27 male New Zealand White rabbit, age 4 months, average weight 1.5-2 kg. The raw materials of the ethanol extract were Musa Paradisiaca Var Kepok peels that were obtained from Traditional Market, Demak, Central Java Indonesia. Type of experimental laboratory research was conducted with a randomized control design pre-posttest design. The 104-day study was conducted at LPPT unit 4 UGM that has been standardized internationally. Results: The test results of repeated ANOVA on the blood sugar group 1 (O1) shows that at least 2 measurement times that had significantly different mean values with p-value= 0.003 <0.05. The result of the Friedman test on the blood sugar level for group 2 (O2) showed that at least 2 measurement times having mean value was significantly different with p-value= 0.001 <0.05. The group 3 (O3) indicated that at least 2 measurement times had significantly different value mean with p-value= 0.045 <0.05. There are the differences on blood sugar levels in each group and at each measurement time. Administration of ethanol extract of musa paradisiaca var kepok peels in the group (O1) with dose 200mg / kg bb and dose of 400mg / kg bb in group 2 (O2) have the same effect of hypoglycemia. Conclusion: an ethanol extract of musa paradisiaca var kepok peels have a hypoglycemia effect on New Zealand White rabbit with Diabetic Hyperlipidemia.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: DotA-2 is the most popular MOBA video game, which ranks the second most sold on the steam platform. Reaction time as a physiological parameter to find out how quickly to respond to a stimulus. Some research states that video games can increase reaction time. Objective: To know the correlation of playing video game Defense of the Ancients-2 with the duration of reaction time. Method: The study used cross-sectional design. This study was conducted in the area of the Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University. In this study found 42 respondents participated. Score of reaction time is measured using a ruler dropped from the respondent's fingertips. Analysis using  Shapiro-Wilk test and Pearson test. Results: There is significant relationship between playing a DotA-2 status and reaction time. The duration of playing DotA-2 video games to the reaction time there were significant differences between the 3 groups. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the status of playing video game DotA-2 with reaction time.

Abstract

Objective: To determine the difference in protein content of tilapia extract before and after drying process.Materials and Methods: This study was designed with a true experimental design. The research sample wastilapia fish extract with 3 replications in each sample. The measurement of protein content was carried out onsamples before and after drying. The drying process of tilapia extract was carried out for 48 hours using a freezedryer. Furthermore, the dried samples were tested for protein content using the biuret method supported by theUV-Vis Spectrophotometer instrument. The testing stages include making the standard solution, determining themaximum wavelength, determining the operating time, and making a standard curve. Results: Showed that the protein content of tilapia extract before and after drying was 2.23% and 27.4%,respectively. The results of statistical analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the proteincontent of tilapia fish before and after drying. Conclusion: There was an increase in protein content of tilapia fish extract after drying by 25.17%.
