Abstract

Introduction: banana peels just end up in the trash to date. It needs to be thought of waste processing into a more useful product for health. This study aims to determine the effect of peel extract (Musa Paradisiaca var. kapok) toward the blood sugar level of New Zealand White (NZW) rabbits which have diabetes hyperlipidemia. Method: 27 male New Zealand White rabbit, age 4 months, average weight 1.5-2 kg. The raw materials of the ethanol extract were Musa Paradisiaca Var Kepok peels that were obtained from Traditional Market, Demak, Central Java Indonesia. Type of experimental laboratory research was conducted with a randomized control design pre-posttest design. The 104-day study was conducted at LPPT unit 4 UGM that has been standardized internationally. Results: The test results of repeated ANOVA on the blood sugar group 1 (O1) shows that at least 2 measurement times that had significantly different mean values with p-value= 0.003 <0.05. The result of the Friedman test on the blood sugar level for group 2 (O2) showed that at least 2 measurement times having mean value was significantly different with p-value= 0.001 <0.05. The group 3 (O3) indicated that at least 2 measurement times had significantly different value mean with p-value= 0.045 <0.05. There are the differences on blood sugar levels in each group and at each measurement time. Administration of ethanol extract of musa paradisiaca var kepok peels in the group (O1) with dose 200mg / kg bb and dose of 400mg / kg bb in group 2 (O2) have the same effect of hypoglycemia. Conclusion: an ethanol extract of musa paradisiaca var kepok peels have a hypoglycemia effect on New Zealand White rabbit with Diabetic Hyperlipidemia.

Abstract

 Latar belakang : lingkar leher merupakan pengukuran antropometri yang relatif baru yang menggambarkan lemak subkutaneus tubuh bagian atas serta berkorelasi dengan obesitas dan sindrom metabolik. Lemak tubuh total pada obese memiliki hubungan dengan kelainan metabolik. Pengukuran lemak tubuh total pada obese secara sederhana belum banyak diteliti terutama korelasinya dengan lingkar leher.Tujuan : menentukan korelasi lingkar leher dengan persentase lemak tubuh total pada obesitas.Metode penelitian : penelitian korelasional ini melibatkan subyek obese dan normoweight sebanyak 186 perawat di RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang dari bulan Juni-Juli 2017 yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Dilakukan pengukuran lingkar leher dan pengukuran lemak tubuh total, lemak viseral dan lemak subkutaneus whole body menggunakan Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA). uji hipotesis menggunakan korelasi sederhana.Hasil : Rerata lingkar leher subyek obese dan normoweight adalah 36±1,8 cm dan 31,9±2,1 cm. Terdapat korelasi bermakna antara lingkar leher dengan lemak total tubuh (r=0,310; p=0,002), lemak viseral (r=0,543; p=0,000) dan lemak subkutaneus whole body (r=0,492; p=0,000) pada sampel obese..Simpulan : terdapat korelasi bermakna antara besarnya lingkar leher dengan lemak tubuh total, lemak viseral dan lemak subkutaneus whole body.Kata kunci : lingkar leher, lemak tubuh total, lemak viseral, lemak subkutaneus whole body

Abstract

Background: Malnutrition remains a health problem in either developed and developing countries, caused by a variety of individuals and factors related to the disease. Caretaker/family support to help patient's intake, the attitude of the team manager of the patient, the procedure of advance examination, is an important factor to improve inpatients intake. But the association of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior patient's caretaker to the adequacy of inpatients food intake not yet unknown.Methods: This research is association research, performed at the Rajawali ward at dr. Kariadi Hospital with a total sample of at least 50 people. The measurement of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of patient's caretaker use detailed questionnaire. The answer of the respondent's questionnaire or interview processed by computer software to know the depth and the association between the variables.Results: Most of the respondents are women and 1,5 times than men. The age of respondents mostly above 50 years old (32%). Most of them are primary school graduates (39,3%). 76% of Respondent's income are less than 2,3 million rupiah. 55,4% are married. The level of respondent's knowledge about patient's food intake shows a good level of knowledge. Respondent's attitude regarding patient's food intake shows positive attitude about nutrition and adequacy of patient's food intake. Respondent's behaviour regarding patient's food intake shows a good result.Conclusion: a good knowledge influence a positive attitude, a positive attitude related to the behavior to the adequacy of patient's food intake, while the level of knowledge was not significantly related to the behavior of the adequacy of patient's food intake.Keywords: knowledge, attitude, behavior, patient?s caretaker, food intake.

Abstract

Latar Belakang : Paparan benzene dapat menyebabkan stres oksidatif, diantaranya ditandai dengan peningkatan kadar GGT dan kadar NO. Vitamin E dapat mengurangi dan mencegah produksi radikal bebas. Reaktivitas hidrogen fenolik pada kelompok hidroksil α-tokoferol akan menstabilkan elektron tidak berpasangan pada radikal bebas.Tujuan : Membuktikan pengaruh suplementasi vitamin E terhadap kadar GGT dan kadar NO pada tikus jantan terpapar uap benzene.Metode : Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen pada binatang coba dengan rancangan post test only controlled group design. Sampel 35 ekor tikus strain wistar jantan dibagi secara random dalam enam kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif, kontrol positif dan empat kelompok perlakuan suplementasi vitamin E dosis bertingkat (X1 = 1,8 IU;  X2 = 3,6 IU; X3 = 7,2 IU; dan X4 = 14,4 IU per hari untuk setiap 200 gram berat badan tikus). Setiap kelompok kecuali kontrol negatif dipapar 300 ppm uap benzene selama 2 minggu (6 hari/minggu, 6 jam/hari). Pengukuran kadar GGT menggunakan metoda Kinetik Colorimetric dan kadar NO menggunakan metoda Colorimetric Gries dilakukan pada setiap kelompok. Hasil : Suplementasi vitamin E berpengaruh menurunkan  kadar GGT (p=0,0001). Pengaruh paparan benzene terhadap peningkatan kadar GGT dapat dicegah dengan baik pada dosis suplementasi vitamin E 14,4 IU/200gr BB tikus/hari. Suplementasi vitamin E tidak berpengaruh terhadap kadar NO.Simpulan : Ada pengaruh suplementasi vitamin E terhadap penurunan kadar GGT dan  tidak ada pengaruh suplementasi vitamin E terhadap penurunan kadar NO.

Abstract

Latar belakang : Konsumsi garam beriodium oleh masyarakat atau Universal Salt Iodization (USI) merupakan program utama penanggulangan GAKI di Indonesia. Ketersediaan dan distribusi garam beriodium sesuai SNI yang belum merata menjadi kendala tercapainya USI di beberapa wilayah Indonesia termasuk Jepara. Jepara merupakan salah satu daerah penghasil garam di Jawa Tengah. Sebagian besar garam dijual keluar daerah sedangkan seluruh kebutuhan garam beriodium disuplai dari luar daerah. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis ketersediaan, pola distribusi dan tingkat konsumsi garam beriodium di Kabupaten Jepara.Metode : Metode kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Informan utama terdiri dari 5 orang anggota tim penanggulangan GAKI dan 11 orang pelaku garam. Informan triangulasi terdiri dari 30 orang ibu hamil di wilayah Pakis Aji. Pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, Focus Group Discusion dan telaah dokumen. Analisis data menggunakan content analysis.Hasil : Terdapat 76 merk garam beriodium yang beredar di Jepara, 75 %  mengandung iodium  < 30 ppm. Tingginya peredaran garam ini disebabkan oleh lemahnya law enforcement di Jepara. Pola distribusi yang berbeda mengakibatkan ketersediaan garam beriodium di setiap wilayah juga berbeda. Sebagian besar responden telah mengonsumsi garam beriodium. Persepsi responden gondok merupakan dampak utama GAKI. Garam beriodium tersedia di pasar atau warung dengan harga terjangkau, rasa dan kualitas garam menjadi kendala dalam mengonsumsi garam beriodium sesuai SNI setiap hari.Simpulan : Sebagian besar (75%) garam beriodium yang beredar mengandung iodium < 30 ppm. Terdapat 8-14 merk garam serta penjual garam krosok curah dan kemasan di setiap wilayah. Sebagian besar responden telah mengonsumsi garam beriodium.

Abstract

Background: Children become consumer target of soft drink. Many factors influencing children’s consumption of soft drink. There are only few studies about factor influencing children’s consumption in rural area. Objective : To analyze total soft drink consumption per day among 10-12 year-old children in rural area and analyze determinant factors of soft drink consumption.Methods : Cross-sectional study design in 109 children aged 10-12 years who was selected by consecutive sampling. Data collected were gender, nutrition knowledge related soft drink, attitude to soft drink consumption,, pocket money, peer influence, and exposure to mass media. The instruments used are questionnaire and Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionaire (SQ-FFQ). Data were analyze using  rank Spearman test and Chi Square test.Result : Total soft drink consumption per day was 422,0±483,94ml. Variables that correlated with total soft drink consumption per day were gender (p=0,025), attitude to soft drink consumption (r=0,28;p=0,003) and peer influence (r=0,25;p=0,007). Variables that are not correlated with total soft drink consumption per day were nutrition knowledge (r=-0,10;p=0,269), pocket money (r=-0,10;p=0,265), exposure to mass media (r=0,15;p=0,116).Conclusion : Factors that correlated with total soft drink consumption per day were gender (p=0,025), attitude to soft drink consumption (r=0,28;p=0,003) and peer influence (r=0,25;p=0,007).

Abstract

Background: The high deficiency of vitamin D were caused by low vitamin D intake which are limited amounts of vitamin D food sources, and sunlight exposure. Indoor workers were likely to be lower sunlight exposure, while outdoor workers were higher of sunlight exposure, but when someone often exposed sunlight used covering clothes and sun protector then the exposure was not enough to complete the needs of vitamin D. The purpose of this study was to compare intake of vitamin D and sunlight exposure between indoor and outdoor workers.Methods: The analytic descriptive study was held in Sayung Subdistrict with 60 sample aged 19-64 years were selected by using consecutive sampling. Vitamin D intakes was measured by SQ-FFQ and analyzed using nutrisurvey. Sunlight exposure were obtained by doing direct interview with questionnaire and sunlight exposure recall 3x24h. The data were analyzed by using descriptive tests and bivariate tests.Results: The indoor worker’s frequency of sunlight exposure was higher (p = 0.001), indoor worker’s body was more closed (p = 0.02), indoor worker’s habit of using sunlight protector was more often (p = 0.001), outdoor worker’s total duration of sunlight exposure was higher (p = 0.001), outdoor workers were more often to use polyester material textile (p= 0.07), and vitamin D intake was higher in outdoor workers than indoor workers (p = 0.79).   Conclusion: Indoor workers were at higher risk of vitamin D deficiency due to low vitamin D intake and sunlight exposure because of often used covering clothes and sunlight  protectors.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Kegagalan ASI eksklusif sangat umum terjadi di Indonesia, walaupun ASI eksklusif telah dianjurkan oleh pemerintah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor risiko kegagalan ASI eksklusif.Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian case-control dengan subjek ibu menyusui yang memiliki bayi usia 6-8 bulan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Pegandan. Total subjek penelitian ini sebanyak 70 orang, yang terbagi menjadi kelompok kasus dan kelompok kontrol. Informasi mengenai dukungan suami, pemberian informasi oleh petugas kesehatan, penolong persalinan, tempat bersalin, pendapatan keluarga, status pekerjaan ibu, dan ketersediaan ruang ASI di tempat kerja didapatkan melalui wawancara langsung. Analisis data dengan tabulasi silang 2x2 dan regresi logistik.Hasil: Hampir separuh subjek penelitian berada di kelompok usia 20-29 tahun dengan rerata usia 31,1±5,58. Ibu menyusui yang tidak didukung suami untuk melakukan ASI eksklusif berisiko 3,59 kali lebih besar untuk mengalami kegagalan ASI eksklusif, ibu menyusui yang melahirkan di fasilitas kesehatan tingkat pertama berisiko 5,18 kali lebih besar untuk mengalami kegagalan ASI eksklusif, serta ibu menyusui yang menerima informasi yang salah dari petugas kesehatan berisiko 8,06 kali lebih besar untuk mengalami kegagalan ASI eksklusif.Simpulan: Faktor risiko kegagalan ASI eksklusif adalah suami yang tidak mendukung, tempat bersalin di fasilitas kesehatan pertama, dan pemberian informasi yang salah oleh petugas kesehatan.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Perubahan gaya hidup seperti konsumsi asam lemak trans terutama di pedesaan dapat menyebabkan berbagai macam penyakit tidak menular. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat konsumsi asam lemak trans di pedesaan.Metode: Penelitian deskriptif semi-kualitatif dilakukan di Desa Watuagung dengan 68 sampel ibu rumah tangga usia 30-55 tahun yang diambil secara cluster sampling. Asam lemak trans diukur dengan FFQ semi-kuantitatif, dihitung dalam persentase asam lemak trans dari total energi dan dibandingkan dengan rekomendasi WHO 2008. Analisis data menggunakan uji statistik deskriptif.Hasil: Rerata konsumsi asam lemak trans sebesar 0,38±0,3% dari total energi. Kelompok asam lemak trans yang sering di konsumsi adalah olahan gorengan 0,27% dari total energi dengan frekuensi  konsumsi 1-4 kali/minggu (78%). Sumber asam lemak trans yang paling banyak tersedia adalah kelompok olahan gorengan (6-8 jenis). Pengetahuan asam lemak trans dalam kategori kurang (53%), subjek tidak pernah mendengar promosi dan iklan (63%), dan semua aspek pemilihan makan terkait asam lemak trans dianggap penting.Simpulan: Konsumsi sumber asam lemak trans di pedesaan tidak melebihi batas maksimal dari WHO yaitu kurang dari 1% dari total energi. Kelompok sumber asam lemak trans yang sering dikonsumsi adalah olahan gorengan.

Abstract

Background: The benefit of giving free iron folic tablets to prevent iron deficiency anemia in pregnancy is often inhibited by the compliance of iron folic tablets consumption in pregnant women. Compliance is a behavior that can be influenced by many factors, such as knowledge, attitude and motivation. The purpose of this study is to determine association between knowledge, attitude, and motivation with compliance of iron folic tablets consumption in pregnant women. Methods: This is a cross sectional study, with 56 pregnant women as sample which are selected by consecutive sampling in Halmahera health center, Semarang. Data of compliancy on iron folic tablets consumption was measured by tablet calculation. Data of knowledge, attitude and motivation are taken from interviews using questionnaire. Bivariate analysis performed by Rank Spearman test. Results: This study showed 41,1% of subjects complied iron folic tablet consumption. The average compliance of iron folic tablet consumption in 10 days is 62.86%. Majority of pregnant women have a good knowledge (50%), good attitude (51.8%) and good motivation (57.1%). This study showed association between knowledge (r = 0.370, p = 0.005), attitude (r = 0.343, p = 0.010), and motivation (r = 0.616, p = 0.000) with compliance of iron folic tablets consumption. Conclusion: Motivation is the most dominant factor. The higher the motivation given  the more compliance the pregnant women of taking iron folic tablets consumption.
