In contrast to Western civilization are experiencing stagnation and deterioration due to dogmatism confined religion, Islamic civilization actually progressed in the spirit of actualizing the values of faith. In other words, Islamic civilization and Western civilization has a different experience in terms of the role of religion in encouraging the advancement of civilization. In its heyday, Islamic civilization and contribute a big share in building a world civilization and eventually also lead to the development of civilization barat.Tulisan culture is going to elaborate on the contribution of Islamic civilization to the development of science globally. This effort is conducted not in the romance of history that is apologetis.but more than that, this effort made to develop the rekindling the spirit of Islamic culture and civilization through the messages of Islam. Thus sacred teachings, in the hopes the spirit of actualizing the values of faith are ever advancing civilization Islam in the past to spur the development of science and Islamic civilization today.

Penelitian tahunkedua ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan medial pembelajaran Character Building melalui Matiklopedia bagi siswaÂ SD di wilayah kedungsapur yang ditinjau dari keefektifannya melalui Â tes. Teori Pengembangan yang digunakan adalah plomp (1997) sebagai dasar dalah melaksanakan tahapa penelitian. Tahapan penelitian tersebut meliputi: (1) penelitian awal (fase preliminary investigation), (2) perancangan ( fase design), (3) realisaasi/konstruksi (fase realization/construction), (4) tes, evaluasi dan revisi, (fase tes, evaluation & revition) dan (5) implementasi (fase implementation). Â Khusus tahunkedua ini diakukan postest diÂ 10 sekolah pada wilayah kewdungsapur Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi dan penyebaran kuesioner .analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif dengan mengacu kepada pendapat Miles dan Huberman (1992), yang membagi tiga alur kegiatan analisis, dimulai dari reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Analisis pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan membandingkan antara data dengan kriteria-kriteria, yaitu efektif. Untuk mengetahui efektifitas penggunaan matiklopedia SD di wilayahÂ 10 (sepuluh) sekolah dasar di 5(lima) kabupaten wilayah kedungsapur meliputi kabupaten grobogan, kabupaten demak, kabupaten kenpada materi satuan volume dan debit air, kabupaten semarang dan kota salatiga diperoleh prestasi belajar kelas eksperimen lebih baik dibanding kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen yaitu berasal dari sekolah Negeri dan kelas kontrol berasal dari sekolah Swasta dengan menggunakan uji-t pihak kanan, yaitu didapatkan thitung sebesar 2,15 dan ttabel sebesar 1,86 sehingga setelah dibandingkan antara thitung dan ttabel makaÂ thitung > ttabel yaitu 2,15 > 1,86, maka Ho ditolak artinya pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media Matiklopedia Berbasis Pendidikan Karakter lebih baik dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. The analysis of the process of translating a novel needs to be holistically approached which refers to the examination of translation in the viewpoints of genetic factor, objective factor, and affective factor. This analysis is conducted basedÂ on the consideration that there is an interplay between translators as the mediating agents, processes of translation, products of translation, and the opinion of theÂ readers about the products of translation. This article highlights the current resultÂ of the research conducted by the writer focusing on the analysis on the equivalenceÂ of meaning and style found in an Indonesian translation of an English novel usingÂ the holistic criticism approach.Key words: Equivalence, Meaning, Style, Holistic Approach

The Tradition of Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsabandiyah in Pekanbaru, Riau Masduki, Masduki; Hartono, Toni; Rosidi, Imron

This article describes the tradition practiced by the followers of Qadiriyah wa Naqsabandiyah in Pekanbaru, Riau. By employing a qualitative approach, this article finds that that the tradition of the Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsabandiyah in Pekanbaru, Riau emerged from the tradition (custom) performed at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Huda al-Islami. Through the pesantren, the tarekat tradition is spread gradually in the practice of education and socialization. From the tradition of pesantren education, this tarekat philosophy is then socialized to the surrounding communitys environmental traditions. Philosophically, this study also concluded that tarekat is a doctrine that is close to Islamic education. Pesantren as the center of tarekat development becomes icon development of Islamic education based on Sufi character. In the contemporary context, the values of Sufi education are increasingly crucial, especially in responding to the patterns and lifestyles of consumptive ones arising from modernization, capitalism, and globalization

Civil society, dipadankan dalam bahasa Indonesia dengan "masyarakat sipil", "masyarakat kewargaan", "masyarakat madani", adalah suatu istilah yang pada mulanya berasal dan Barat kemudian masuk ke negeri-negeri yang sedang giat melakukan demokratisasi, termasuk Indonesia. Dewasa ini telah menjadi agenda penting yang sering dibicarakan banyak pemikir sebagai wacana dan praktik politik kontemporer.Sebagai salah satu ajaran yang mempunyai misi mengubah tatanan sosial masyarakat, Islam memiliki konsep tentang masyarakat ideal dan karenanya Islam juga berkepentingan untuk mengubah masyarakat menuju cita-cita idealnya. Sudah banyak pembahasan di kalangan pemikir, cendikiawan, dan pengamat politik muslim tentang kesesuaian (compatibility) ajaran-ajaran Islam dengan civil society. Pada intinya disepakati bahwa Islam menodorong penciptaan masyarakat madani. Nabi Muhammad sendiri bahkan telah mencontohkan secara aktual bagaimana perwujudan civil society itu, yaitu ketika Nabi mendirikan dan memimpin negara-kota Madinah. Kenyataan ini terlihat bukan hanya dalam Piagam Madinah, juga dari pergantian nama kota Yatsrib menjadi Madinah,yang tentu saja satu akar kata dengan istilah "madani" itu sendiri.

Teori hukum Islam atau disebut juga ushul al-fiqh adalah salah satu disiplin ilmu keislaman tradisional yang memiliki posisi sangat penting dalam pengembangan hukum Islam. Dalam disiplin ilmu inilah pembahasan mengenai dasar-dasar pemikiran atau paradigma keilmuan dan kaidah-kaidah yang sangat diperlukan sebagai pijakan dasar dalam membangun sebuah formulasi hukum Islam yang diinginkan dibahas secara tuntas. Dengan perkataan lain, ushul al fiqh adalah disiplin ilmu yang paling bertanggung jawab sebagai perangkat metodologis yang paling berkompeten guna menyusun, membentuk, dan memberi corak hukum Islam yang diharapkan.Namun belakangan ini, dengan semakin berkembang dan kompleknya tingkat budaya dan pengetahuan manusia, ushul fiqh yang dibangun oleh Imam Syafi'i tersebut mengalami kemandekan kalau tidak dikatakan kematian, karena dianggap tidak sanggup memberi kontribusi dan solusi masalah-masalah manusia modern. Karena itu beberapa pemikir Islam mutakhir merasa gelisah dengan keadaan seperti itu. Salah seorangnya adalah Muhammad Syahrur, seorang insinyur yang juga serius mengkaji Islam dalam kaitannya dengan isu-isu kekinian, menggagas penafsiran ulang terhadap warisan Islam klasik. Salah satu gagasannya adalah mengkaji ulang terhadap al-Qur'an. la tafsirkan al-Qur'an dengan pendekatan kebahasaan yang digabung dengan latar belakang keilmuannya yang berdasar pada matematika dan fisika, melahirkan kajian tefsir yang berbeda dengan tafsir konvensional selama ini. Dan· kajian tafsir al-Qur'an yang berkaitan dengan ayat-ayat hukum Syahrur melahirkan gagasan yang baru terhadap masalah-masalah hukum Islam yang selama ini dianggap sudah ajeg, dengan melahirkan teori batas. Bahwa hukum Tuhan mempunyai batas, batas alas dan batas bawah. Selama manusia bermain tidak melewati batas atas dan bawah tersebut, maka ia masih di dalam hukum Tuhan.Kata Kunci: Ushul fiqh, Muhammad Syahrur, Teori Batas

Dampak Tafsir Muhammad ‘Abduh terhadap Tafsir-Tafsir Sesudahnya Masduki, Masduki

Muhammad ‘Abduh, according to Muhammad ‘Imârah, is the greatest Islamic scholar in this modern age who provides reflection and interpretation of the verses of the Qoran. The great name ‘Abduh in the field of interpretation is increasingly felt after we know that many commentators post‘ Abduh who followed in his footsteps and manhaj. Among them there are those that emphasize more on the element of ijtimâ`i, there are also those who emphasize etiquette side (adabi) and so on. This article discusses the influence of Muhammad ‘Abduh’s interpretations on the interpretations of post-‘Abduh ex-commentators, especially on the five commentaries popular among Muslims, namely Rashid Ridlâ, Mahmud Syaltût, ‘Abd al-Rahman (Bint al-Syâthî) ), Ahmad Mushthafa al-Maraghî, and Sayyid Quthb. The results showed that Rasyid Ridlâ continued to maintain the interpretation of his teacher while adding necessary explanations. This means, the impact of ‘Abduh's interpretation is strong on Ridlâ's interpretation. For Mahmud Syaltût, Abduh’s influence was evident in his view that the Qoran contained basic themes and objectives. While the prominent feature of Bint al-Syâthî’s interpretation is its emphasis on the rhetorical aspect (al-nāhiyah al-bayâniyah). ‘Abduh’s influence is also thick in the Tafsir al-Maraghî when he states that one of manhaj taken in the preparation of this interpretation is turning away (al-i'râd) from the narrations of ma'tsûrah, except for mutawâtir and the narrations that are not contrary to the spirit of Islam. Finally for Quthb, Abduh’s influence was seen from his beautiful literary elements.

This article is talking about the contextual understanding of Hadith about women proposing toward men and how this phenomenon develops in the contemporary era. Islam requires that a proposing is done before marriage. The practice of proposing generally is held by men. However, in several locations, it is found that a proposing is committed by women. They are doing it because of their understanding of a hadith which explains that in Islam, a woman has the right to propose a man. On the other side, Islam does not regulate who must propose whether men or women. Even though, there is a hadith which tells that a woman offered her self to be married by a pious man. As an open and changed text, a hadith can be explained by many ways of interpretation. One of them is contextual understanding. Therefore, contextual understanding of woman proposing toward a man which is based on the hadith is allowed because the prophet did not give a legal decision and forbid it.Â Keywords: Hadith, Women Proposing, Contextual Understanding

This research aimed to design a strategy to develop character learning mathematics students that were based on the values of Islam. This study were in the frame of research and development method using qualitative approach. Subject of this research was the first year of undergraduate students of mathematics education department who took basic mathematics courses. Mathematics learning strategies in developing th character were designed in three stages to develop students character. The first stage was the inculcation. At this stage, lecturer facilitated students with activities that were able to raise awareness of the value of the character in learning. The second stage was Implementation where the lecturers facilitated student learning activities that fostered character value. Activities fostered values characters implicitly include group discussion, problems solving, seeking information from various sources, preparations reports, and presentations. The final stage was reflection, where the lecturer together with students did reflection on themselves and on the values of the characters that had not been well grown in learning. The results of interview with students suggest that the use of learning strategies has a positive impact on student character development.
