Abstract

Pada hakikatnya sebuah bahasa dan sastra dapat didekati melalui berbagai cara, hal ini yaitu norma estetika, sastra, dan moral. karya sastra itu mampu memperlihatkan peristiwa kebudayaan, sosial, keagamaan, atau politik masa lalu dalam kaitannya dengan peristiwa masa kini dan masa datang. Pada sisi lain, karya sastra juga mengandung nilai-nilai kearifan yang mampu memperhalus akal budi dan mempertajam etika dan daya estetika. Nilai-nilai yang ada dalam karya sastra itu dapat menjadi patokan dan dasar dalam menciptakan kerukunan hidup bermasyarakat, berbangsa, dan bernegara

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to  knowwhether using Show and tell method in teaching can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery  or not. This technique can improve and increase student’s ability to learn the target language and make them enjoy in the teaching learning process. It supposes to motivate students to learn English actively by using show and tell method. Students also are encouraged to get long memorizing of the words and their meaning. The method that is used in this research is the classroom action research.For getting the needed data, the writer applies the library and field research. The library research is applied based on the needs of the books as the sources of theories and informations, and the field research is applied based on the need of data from the field, in this case from the SMP Negeri 1 Batang Natal. And as the instrument for collecting the data the writer uses the written test. To the result of implementing classroom action research inthe eleventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Batang Natal in 2020 - 2021 academic year, it showed a great improvement in which the mean score of students in pretest is 61.03, whereas in post test 1 is 68.60 and in post test 2 are80.37. Besides, the students’ score percentage in the pretest is 8.82%, from posttest 1 is 31.69 % and 82.35 % from post test of students who have passed the KKM.Next, the result of the students’ score improvement from pretest to posttest 1is 8.82 %, and from pretest to posttest 2 is 31.69%. The percentage got from the result of post – test 2 has achieved the criteria of successSo that, it can be concluded thatthere is a significant improvement of the students’ vocabulary mastery after they are taught by using Show and tell method”.And it can be stated that the formulated hypothesis is accepted.

Abstract

This research is mainly conducted by the writer in order to know that there is a significant effect of using the pre-questioning to improving the students’ reading comprehension skills to the tenth grade students’ of SMA Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan or not. The number of the sample is 52 students. In this research the writer applies the cluster sampling. And as the instrument for collecting the data the writer uses the questioners for variable X and the essay test for variable Y. For getting the needed data, the writer applies the library and field research. The method of research is experiment method, that is the writes find out the different of students’ score before-after using pre-questioning method. Based on the result of research can be known the students’ mean score in pre-test is 80.76. After treatment the students’ mean score increase into 89.04. After collecting the needed the data, the next step which is done by the writer is analyzing it by using statistical analysis. The statistical formulation which is used in this research is the formulation of Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation (rxy). After analyzing the collected data, it has been got that the value of correlation (rxy), that is 0.945. By consulting this value to the table interpretation given before, it is known that this value can be categorized into the very high correlation category. It means that there is a significant effect of using the pre-questioning to improving the students’ reading comprehension skills to the tenth grade students’ of SMA Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan. The hypothesis of this research accepted.

Abstract

The design of the development of learning methods involves the pattern of organizing elements or components in the curriculum. the development of learning materials listening to correlated core-based learning with the application of listening in action methods seen from two dimensions, namely horizontal and vertical dimensions. The horizontal dimension is related to the compilation of the scope of learning content. This spatial arrangement is often integrated with the learning and teaching process. The vertical dimension concerns the compilation of material sequences based on the order of difficulty. Arranged materials start from the easy ones, then go to the more difficult ones, or start with the basic ones followed by the continuation. This development describes in detail about the components that must be present in each listening learning material that can be used for the learning process. The design of the development of the listening learning material consists of several components, including the objectives of the curriculum, teaching materials or the material or content of the curriculum, teaching strategies or teaching methods, teaching media and teaching evaluation and improving teaching. These components are related to each other in the development of learning materials listening to correlated core-based learning by applying listening in action methods.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran unsur serapan pada media luar ruangan di Kecamatan Padangsidimpuan Utara. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dan sumber data dalam penelitian ini diambil dari spanduk dan papan nama yang ada di Kota Padangsidimpuan.Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan 3 (tiga) indikator diperoleh hasilnya yaitu; (1). Papan nama dan spanduk yang menggunakan bahasa asing ditemukan sebanyak 18 buah papan nama dan 15 buah spanduk (2). Papan nama dan spanduk yang penulisannya tidak memperhatikan EYD ditemukan 10 buah papan nama dan 12 buah spanduk. (3). Papan nama dan spanduk yang secara keseluruhan menggunakan bahasa Indonesia ditemukan 5 buah spanduk dan 5 buah papan nama. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh adalah terdapat kesalahan penulisan unsur serapan yang ada pada media luar ruang (papan nama dan spanduk) di Kota Padangsidimpuan. Yaitu: Papan nama 11 dan Spanduk 7 jumlah keseluruhan papan nama dan spanduk 32. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, kesalahan keseluruhan penulisan unsur serapan pada media luar ruang (papan nama dan spanduk) di  Kota Padangsidimpuan mencapai 18 hal ini menunjukan bahwa penulisan unsur serapan pada media luar ruang tidak mencapai kesempurnaan dikarenakan dalam penulisannya sering dijumpai kata-kata ejaannya yang kurang tepat dalam penulisannya, terdapat kesalahan struktur penulisan,pemakaian huruf-huruf, penulisan huruf, dan tanda baca. Sedangkan penulisan papan nama dan spanduk yang tidak memperhatikan EYD. Total keseluruhan kesalahan papan nama dan spanduk yang tidak memperhtaikan EYD. Jumlah keseluruhan papan nama dan spanduk 32 buah. Papan nama yang tidak sesuai dengan EYD sebanyak 12 dan spanduk yang tidak sesuai dengan EYD 8 buah. Jadi total kesalahan papan nama dan spanduk yang tidak memperhatikan EYD sebanyak 20 buah.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know whether the result of writing complex sentence ability by using Make a Match method gives a better result than Group Investigation method at the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Padangsidimpuan. The writer uses an experimental method. The population is the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Padangsidimpuan, which consisted of 316 students. Two classes, they are VII-1 and VII-2 are taken as two groups of sample by cluster sampling. The whole amount samples is 64 students. The data are collected by using 20 items test as an instrument. The writer uses statistic processes in analyzing data. They are descriptive analysis by using the formula of “t-test”. After calculating the data, it is found that the result of writing complex sentence ability taught by using Make a Match method is categorized “good”. While the students’ writing complex sentence ability taught by using Group Investigation method is categorized “enough”. The result of the analyzed data shows that 2,34 > 2,00 or t-test is greater than t-table. so, the hypothesis is accepted. It means, The Student’s Writing Complex Sentence Ability Taught By Using Make A Match Method is Higher Than Group Investigation Method of the Seventh Grade Students at SMP Negeri 3 Padangsidimpuan

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan untuk memberikan pendidikan berkelanjutan kepada anak sekolah dasar di Desa Tandihat dengan menggunakan buku cerita rakyat sebagai bahan ajar literasi untuk menumbuhkan minat membaca. Partisipan pada pengabdian ini adalah anak sekolah dasar di desa Tandihat dengan metode pendekatan Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). Selama kegiatan pengabdian berlangsung ada beberapa kendala namun bisa diatasi dan kegiatan berjalan lancar sesuai tujuan awal kepada anak sekolah dasar di desa. Masyarakat menyambut baik dan antusias selama kegiatan berlangsung. Begitu pula dukungan dari pihak kepala desa. Kesimpulan dari PKM ini bahwa minat literasi anak Sekola Dasar meningkat dengan adanya bahan bacaan yang variatif, Frekuensi minat baca anak sekolah dasar masih tidak teratur dan naik turun, yang terakhir dukungan dari orang tua dan guru memberikan efek yang sangat penting dalam upaya menumbuhkan minat literasi. Pada dasarnya kegiatan seperti ini perlu untuk dilanjutkan lagi kedepannya untuk menumbuhkan budaya literasi sejak dini.

Abstract

This community service is carried out in which the activities obtained find a problem at SMA Negeri 6 Padangsidimpuan. The problems found in increasing the professional development of teachers where one of the activities is through academic development and the development of teacher functional positions. In this case one of the conditions in this increase is to make a scientific work. In this case the teacher experiences difficulties in writing scientific papers starting from the introduction in making a background problem, methods and discussions that are in accordance with the research conducted by the teacher. With this activity, teachers can be trained in writing good scientific work. This activity was carried out at SMA Negeri 6 Padangsidimpuan which was attended by 30 teachers. The method used is to use training through a quantitative approach to the results. This dedication activity has stages starting from planning, implementing and analyzing training in writing scientific papers for teachers of SMA Negeri 6 Padangsidimpuan. The result of this community service activity is that teachers understand better how to write scientific papers and are already able to make scientific work in accordance with the research being conducted.
