Abstract

This research was conducted on May 2013 - July 2013 in Dongi-Dongi area at Lore-Lindu National Park, to determine the species composition, attendance rates, species diversity, composition based on category guild and species evenness of birds. This rescarch used transect method. Data were collected using four units of 500 m line transect each. For residential area and around forest habitat, it was found there are 45 species of bird within 25 families where 22 of them are endemic. In residential area there were 8 species with attendance rate of 100 %, 2 species of 75 %, 5 species of 50 % and 16 species of 25 %. Meanwhile, the diversity index in residential area (H) was 3.19 , and 3.17 in forest habitat. In addition, evenness in residential area and forest habitat ispectively (E) are 0. 93 and 0.89. Based on the category guild, 7 compositions found in residential area and 9 in forest habitat. Keywords: Diversity, bird species, forest, Dongi-Dongi residential.

Abstract

Tarsius (Tarsius pumilus) is the smallest mammals in the world and some of the species are classified to the endemic species of Sulawesi island, Indonesia. Tarsius is a member of tarssidae family. The aims of this study were to determine bio-physics characteristics of tarsius habitats at the mount Rorekatimbu. Research was performed as field research at Mount Rorekatimbu, Lore Lindu National Park, Central Sulawesi. This research was conducted from February through April 2014.Ninet sample plots were made by the size of 20x20 m. Ploting was done by purposive sampling method around tarsius habitats.Hence vegetation date were analysed to determine the density, frequency, dominant, and Importance Value Index.The results showed that the highest importance value index (IVI) at the tree and pole level was Castanopsis acuminatissima (Blume) A.DC with the value 109,88% and 71,74%, respectively. At the sapling level, the highest IVI was achieved by Pinanga cease Blume with the value 80,90%, and at the seedling level, the highest IVI was achieved by Calamus sp with the value 36,77%. Furthermore, the abiotic condition of the habitat including; temperature (14ºC-20ºC) and relative humidity (64%-83%) and located at 2031mtill 2084 m asl. Abstract

Evaluation of xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity and polyphenolic content of sappan extractABSTRACTHyperuricemia is a disease that is characterized by a high uric acid level, in which the number of patients tends to increase every year. This research was intended to evaluate the xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitory activity and determinate the total polyphenol content of heartwood sappan (Caesalpinia sappan L.) extract. The extract was prepared by macerating the dry powder wood using 70% ethanol at room temperature. The quality of ethanolic extract obtained was evaluated based on BPOM guideline. XO inhibitory power was determined by measuring uric acid produced in the xanthine/XO system in vitro. The polyphenol content of the extract was measured using Folin-Ciocalteu reagent spectrophotometrically. The results showed that the quality of sappan semisolid extract fulfilled the required standard. Sappan extract inhibited XO activity by 98% relative to the positive control, allopurinol, at the final extract concentration of 100 µg/mL. The total polyphenol content was 26% of the crude extract. It could be concluded that sappan ethanolic extract has the potential to be developed as an ingredient for hyperuricemia treatment.Keywords: hyperuricemia, sappan, total polyphenol, xanthine, xanthine oxidase ABSTRAKHiperurisemia adalah penyakit yang dicirikan dengan kadar asam urat tinggi dimana prevalensi penderita cenderung meningkat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari aktivitas esktrak kayu sappan (Caesalpinia sappan L.) dalam menginhibisi enzim XO (xantin oksidase) secara in vitro dan penentuan kadar senyawa polifenol total yang terkandung di dalamnya. Ekstrak dibuat dengan cara maserasi serbuk kayu menggunakan pelarut etanol 70% pada suhu kamar. Kualitas ekstrak dievaluasi mengacu pada parameter karakterisasi ekstrak yang ditetapkan oleh BPOM. Aktivitas inhibisi XO ditetapkan dengan mengukur kadar asam urat yang terbentuk pada sistem xantin/XO in vitro. Kadar polifenol ekstrak diukur menggunakan pereaksi Folin-Ciocalteu secara spektrofotometri. Hasil analisis menyatakan bahwa kualitas ekstrak kental sappan memenuhi persyaratan yang ada. Pengujian inhibisi XO dengan pembanding positif allopurinol pada konsentrasi akhir ekstrak sebesar 100 µg/mL menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak mempunyai kekuatan menginhibisi XO sebesar 98% relatif terhadap pembanding positif allopurinol. Kadar senyawa polifenol total dalam ekstrak sappan sebesar 26% dari ekstrak kasar. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to see the motivation, describe a bout the productivity, and to look the relationship between work motivation the productivity of beauty salon employee in west Padang. The population in this research are all of the beauty salon employee in west Padang. The sample of this research is the beauty salon employee who nasnigh credibility, and of the instrument that has been used is quisioner that validitaty and realibility have been reshed. The data is analyzed with statistic descriptive, test of analysis , and test of hypothesis. The result of this research show that: 1) the motivation of the beauty salon employee at west Padang in high criteria, 2) the productivity of the beauty salon employee at west Padang in high criteria, 3) they have siqnificant relationship between work motivation and the productivity of beauty salon employee at west Padang.

Abstract

Hiperuresemia prevalence tends to increase in society. A combined extract of Uncaria gambir (gambir) and Caesalinia sappan (secang), had been proven to reduce blood uric acid level in vivo. This study aimed to evaluate the subchronic toxicity of this combination in male and female Sprague Dawley rat strain. Animals were randomly grouped into four groups, namely, DOSE-1 (75 mg/kg bw), DOSE-2 (300 mg/kg bw), DOSE-3 (1200 mg/kg bw) and control group gavaged with carrier. The tested sample was given for 7 weeks orally. The result of blood biochemical parameters were not different significantly compared to control (p> 0.05), as well as the results of hematology analysis. However, the NEUT level of female of DOSIS-2 showed lower and significantly different compared to control (p 0,05). Furthermore, this dose did not influence feed intake and body weight of animals in each sex. From this study, it could be concluded that the combination administrated at the dose of 75 mg/kg bw for 7 consecutive weeks did not affect blood biochemistry and hematology and also organ histopathology of kidney, liver, heart, small intestine, and stomach

Abstract

Hematology Profile of Sprague-Dawley Male Rats (Rattus norvegicus) Aged 7 and 10 WeeksCurrently, the normal hematology profile has not been yet available for outbred rats in Indonesia. Most of the researchers use the data of hematology profile from references outside Indonesia in which the breeding environment is different. This study aimed to obtain a hematology profile of Sprague-Dawley male rats aged 7 and 10 weeks. The animals were obtained from the Laboratory of Animal Experiment, NADFC. Blood was drawn from the retro-orbital sinus and then analyzed to obtain the hematology profile including erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, MCV, MCH, MCHC, leukocytes. Statistically significant differences for erythrocytes, hemoglobin, MCV, MCHC, thrombocyte, and leukocytes parameters were observed between rats aged 7 and 10 weeks. However, there were no statistically significant differences observed on MCH, thrombocyte, and body weight parameters. Data presented here would be useful as a reference for hematology research as well as in evaluating alterations in blood parameters.Keywords: erythrocyte, hematology, leukocyte, Sprague-Dawley, thrombocyteABSTRAKSaat ini belum banyak tersedia informasi profil hematologi untuk hewan coba tikus yang dikembangbiakkan di Indonesia. Kebanyakan peneliti menggunakan data profil hematologi dari referensi luar Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan data hematologi tikus jantan usia 7 dan 10 minggu.  Hewan coba yang digunakan adalah tikus jantan galur Sprague-Dawley yang diperoleh dari Laboratorium Hewan Percobaan-BPOM. Sebanyak 60 ekor tikus jantan yang terdiri dari 30 ekor usia 7 minggu dan 30 ekor usia 10 minggu diambil darahnya melalui sinus orbitalis. Selanjutnya, dianalisa jumlah sel eritrosit, hemoglobin, hematokrit, MCV, MCH, MCHC, leukosit. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara tikus jantan usia 7 dan 10 minggu untuk parameter jumlah eritrosit, hemoglobin, hematokrit, MCV, MCHC dan leukosit. Tetapi tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan untuk jumlah MCH, trombosit dan berat badan tikus. Data yang diperoleh dapat digunakan sebagai referensi penelitian yang berhubungan erat dengan profil hematologi dan penyakit kelainan darah lainnya.

Abstract

Human resources or called employee as a company asset to be one determinant of the success of the company (organization). Issue growing is that labor (human resources) is not only the company's assets but also as owners and investors on its human capital to be invested in the company where he works (at work). This article tries to see how human resources can be considered as an asset for the company and when human resources can act as an investor of its human capital. This article also discusses the accounting treatment of human resources as company assets and the possibility of counting on human resources as human capital investor.

Abstract

Forests are one of the natural resources that have important meaning for human life. Forests with various functions and benefits have a very large influence both directly and indirectly on ecological, economic and social aspects. The purpose of this study was to determine the value of the diversity of plant species that make up the vegetation. This study uses the observation plot/plot method to see the diversity of the types of vegetation constituents in the Protected Forest Area of Uwemanje Village, Kinovaro District. The Important Value Index is used to determine the dominance of one species over another in a stand. Significant values were obtained from the sum of the Relative Density (KR), Relative Frequency (FR) and Relative Dominance (DR) for the level of stakes, piles and trees. The species diversity index was used to determine the species diversity of forest stands. Based on the results of research that has been carried out the types of plants that make up the vegetation in the protected forest area at the tree level found 16 species of trees from 14 families, at the pole level found 16 species from 16 families, at the sapling level found 10 species from 9 families, and at the seedling level found 10 types from 9 families. The level of Species Diversity (H¹) for each level is at the tree level H¹ = 3.81. Pile level H¹ = 3.35. The sapling level H¹ = 3.45 and at the seedling level H¹ = 3.54 belong to the high criteria.Kata Kunci: hutan, vegetasi, keanekaragaman jenis
