Abstract

This mix method study investigated the correlation among students’ perception on collaborative writing (SPoCW), students’ self-efficacy (SSE) and students’ writing achievement (SWA). The quantitative data of the study was gained from 62 students who have been taught using collaborative writing during one semester. The data included the students’ perception on collaborative writing questionnaire adapted from [1]. The questionnaire consisted of 18 statements with a five Likert scales. The reliability is 0.892. While students’ self-efficacy is measured using self efficacy questionnaire consists of 23 statements adopted from [2] with the reliability is 0.80. Using correlation Pearson Product Moment, It was found that SPoCW correlated with SSE and the score is 0.377. To investigate the correlation between independent variable (SPoCW and SSE) and dependent variable (SWA), the researcher used Analysis Model Summary, it showed that R Square value is 0.394. This mean that the effect of SPoCW and SSE toward students writing achievement is 39.4 % and the rest is influenced by another factor. While to get qualitative data, semi structure interview was randomly given to the students and it was revealed that mostly students felt confident and had a new writing experience with collaborative writing which strengthen the investigation. It is recommended to build good students’ perception and self-efficacy for best writing achievement.

Abstract

Low learning motivation of senior high school students caused by several things including: learning methods that do not adjust with the times and the media does not support or encourage students to be interested in learning. This study attempted to answer those problems by applying the method of cooperative learning which make students actively interact and communicate with their group and using instructional video that does not make them bored in learning so they feel interested and motivated in learning. Most of the previous studies only focus on the impact of using the cooperative strategy or instructional video (choosing one of them) on the teaching-learning process to increase student's ability in a certain skill. But in this study, it is used the combination between cooperative strategy and instructional video in teaching-learning process. Since the study was quasi-experimental, the instruments to collect the data were test and questionnaire. The researcher took two classes as the experimental class= 25 students and the control class= 25 students of the twelfth grade students of SMAN 5 Tuban. The motivation questionnaire using four-point Likert-type scales. Items on the scales are anchored at 1 = strongly disagree, 2 = disagree, 3 = agree and 4 = strongly agree. The result of motivation questionnaire proved that the students are motivated in learning speaking when using cooperative-instructional video than conventional method. The result of T-Test indicates that English learning students on speaking skill taught by using the cooperative-instructional video was better than using the conventional learning method (textbook). This has implication for language teachers who are interested in incorporating technology into their classes, which may contain students with low motivation and their speaking ability. Abstract

PKM ini bertujuan untuk melakukan pendampingan pengembangan Rencana Induk Pengembangan Sekolah (RIPS) TK ABA 48 ABR. Hal ini sangat penting karena pendampingan ini menunjukkan perubahan  arah pengembangan sekolah secara tepat sehingga menjadikan lebih baik (dengan potensi resiko lebih kecil dan lebih menawarkan kepastian) dan membantu para pengelola TK memberikan arah dan bimbingan menghadapi perubahan kedepan. PKM ini menggunakan empat siklus pendampingan dimana siklus 1-2 untuk mengidentifikasi kebutuhan dan keinginan dasar dalam perumusan RIPS, sedangkan siklus 3-4 adalah pendampingan melalui workshop dan FGD untuk merumuskan secara benar sesuai dengan kebutuhan sekolah, lalu menverifikasinya dalam daft yang sudah sempurna. Hasil pendampingan mengerucutkan bahwa RIPS TK ABA 48 ABR membutuhkan dua sasaran jangka pendek dan menengah pada penataan organisasi dan penguatan layanan sekolah. Penguatan organisasi sekolah meliputi; nilai keislaman dan keindonesiaan dan akhlaqul karimah; nilai nilai kejujuran, keikhlasan, terbuka; meningkatnya reputasi sekolah; Mandiri; dan tercapainya good governance. Selanjutnya Penguatan layanan meliputi; standar infrastruktur; sistem tatakelola sekolah TK yang kredibel, akuntabel, bertanggung dan berkeadilan; Implementasi kurikulum sekolah secara optimal; dan Terwujudnya sumber-sumber pendanaan lain untuk menopang keberlangsungan sekolah. Penataan organisasi dan layanan sekolah TK adalah dua hal mendasar untuk menopang sekolah TK yang berkualitas baik..

Abstract

Studi ini menguji potensi transformatif PBL sebagai pendekatan pedagogis inovatif. Rancangan penelitian mencakup dua tujuan utama: untuk menilai efektivitas PBL dalam meningkatkan kinerja berbicara siswa dan untuk mengukur dampaknya pada motivasi siswa. Dua kelas siswa kelas sembilan, kelas eksperimen yang terpapar PBL dan kelas kontrol yang mengikuti metode pengajaran konvensional, menjadi fokus penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian dengan jelas menggambarkan potensi PBL dalam meningkatkan kinerja berbicara siswa. Siswa di kelas eksperimen berhasil melampaui rekan-rekan mereka di kelompok kontrol, menekankan perbedaan yang signifikan dalam kualitas keterampilan berbicara. Temuan ini memperkuat argumen untuk mengadopsi PBL dalam pendidikan bahasa, menyoroti kapasitasnya untuk mendorong penggunaan bahasa aktif dan kecakapan. Selain itu, penelitian ini menyelidiki aspek-aspek motivasi dalam pembelajaran bahasa. Penilaian berbasis kuesioner mengungkapkan bahwa siswa yang terpapar PBL menunjukkan peningkatan motivasi yang signifikan. Tingkat motivasi mereka termasuk dalam kategori "Sangat Baik", menekankan dampak positif secara emosional dan kognitif yang dihasilkan oleh PBL dalam proses pembelajaran. Hasil ini tidak hanya memperkuat signifikansi akademik PBL, tetapi juga menekankan potensinya dalam menciptakan hasrat untuk pembelajaran bahasa. Penelitian ini mendorong pergeseran paradigma dalam pendidikan bahasa, menganjurkan integrasi PBL sebagai pendekatan transformatif untuk meningkatkan kecakapan berbicara dan motivasi. Temuannya menjadi panggilan penting bagi pendidik dan perancang kurikulum untuk mengeksplorasi potensi pedagogis PBL dan mempertimbangkan integrasinya dalam kurikulum bahasa. Saat komunitas akademik terus merangkul pendekatan pedagogis inovatif, penelitian ini mendorong pendidikan bahasa menuju masa depan yang lebih cerah dan lebih berpengalaman, di mana siswa secara aktif membangun keterampilan bahasa dan menunjukkan motivasi mendalam untuk belajar.

Abstract

Dalam menghadapi tuntutan di abad 21 maka diperlukannya adanya pembentukan karakter pelajar pancasila abad 21 di sekolah. Keterampilan abad 21 dapat didorong melewati kegiatan pembelajaran abad 21. Sedangkan untuk menunjang hal tersebut diperlukan adanya pembelajaran penguatan karakter bangsa, yaitu melalui profil pelajar pancasila. Oleh sebab itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk mendeskripsikan strategi-strategi yang dapat digunakan untuk memperkuat profil pelajar pancasila pada abad 21 di sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian pustaka. Didapatkan kiat strategi untuk mengakomodasi penguatan profil pelajar pancasila abad 21, dapat melalui kegiatan intrakulikuler dan kokulikuler sekolah. Dalam kegiatan intrakulikuler dapat melalui model pembelajaran seperti : Project Based Learning, Contextual Teaching & Learning, Collaborative Learning dan Problem Based Learning,; media pembelajaran interaktif dan muatan pembelajaran berupa kearifan lokal. Sedangkan dalam kegiatan kokulikuler dapat melalui Proyek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5). Diharapkan artikel ini dapat membantu memberikan wawasan tentang konsep strategi penguatan profil pelajar pancasila abad 21 di sekolah khususnya bagi guru

Abstract

This qualitative study explores challenges faced by teachers in teaching writing skills and evaluates the effectiveness of anchor charts in addressing them. Conducted with 20 experienced teachers from major cities in Java Island, Indonesia, through semi-structured interviews, the findings reveal common challenges, including student apathy, limited instructional time, varied abilities, organization difficulties, resource constraints, assessment struggles, and diverse genre incorporation challenges. Anchor charts emerged as a powerful instructional tool, promoting student engagement, writing organization, clarity, and coherence. Students showed increased enthusiasm and motivation, while charts facilitated improved writing structure and coherence. In conclusion, anchor charts offer a promising solution to address the challenges faced by teachers in teaching writing skills. By incorporating anchor charts in writing instruction, educators can create visually engaging and interactive learning experiences that empower students to become proficient and confident writers.The study contributes practical recommendations, aligns with cognitive process and social constructivist theories, and emphasizes the value of visual aids to foster active learning and engagement. The study suggests future research with larger samples, longitudinal and cross-cultural approaches to enrich understanding. In conclusion, anchor charts integration fosters proficient and confident writers in effective expression.

Abstract

Attention to eustress related to learning engagement among ESP learners utilizing Digital Content-Based Language Teaching (DCBLT) remains notably insufficient. This research aims to identify the levels and relationships between eustress and learning engagement, as well as the identification of workable teaching strategies when implementing DCBLT. Employing a mixed-method approach, this study utilizes quantitative data (questionnaire responses) from 43 students and qualitative data (in-depth interviews) from three English for Engineering language instructors. The analysis procedure for quantitative data employed the Spearman rank correlation test, while qualitative data was analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that the levels of eustress and learning engagement among students are highly satisfactory. Moreover, eustress correlates positively and strongly with increased learning engagement. The data also reveals the existence of several workable DCBLT teaching strategies, encompassing the pre-teaching phase (stimulating idea generation, fostering brainstorming, establishing connections, and motivating learners), the whilst-teaching phase (employing a student-centered learning approach, including individual tasks, group work, and quizzes via the DCB platform), and the post-teaching phase (assessing, verifying, and reviewing learners' comprehension). Research recommendations are also presented in the concluding section to fortify and extend the findings of this study.

Abstract

This research aims to measure the influence of providing feedback and learning using audiovisual media on the critical thinking skills of elementary school students in writing descriptive essays. The method used in this research is a mixed method with a sequential explanatory design using pre-experimental quantitative research in pretest and posttest. Qualitative data collection is done through interviews, observations, and document analysis The research subjects are 27 students from grade V of UPT SD Negeri 49 Gresik, selected using purposive sampling method. The results of this research indicate that the pretest and posttest data were analyzed using normality tests and showed a normal distribution with significance levels of 0.201 > 0.05 and 0.232 > 0.05 respectively. The paired samples t-test yielded a significance level of 0.00, confirming that the improvement did not occur by chance. The gain test resulted in a mean value of 0.7656, indicating that the average results were at a high level of critical thinking. The qualitative data revealed that the use of audiovisual media and feedback in descriptive essay writing improved students' confidence and critical thinking abilities. This indicates that providing feedback and learning through audiovisual media influences the critical thinking skills of students in writing descriptive essays. This research provides an important contribution to the development of effective learning methods to enhance the critical thinking abilities of elementary school students. The results of this study can serve as a basis for the development of more effective learning approaches in improving students' critical thinking skills.   Keywords: assesmen extended responses esay, audiovisual media, critical thingking

Abstract

The purpose of this development is to increase discipline and responsibility students with PBL strategies by MABERDI learning media. The subjects used were 30 students in class Ic UPT SD Negeri 06 Gresik who were used on the recommendation of the teacher. The media used is a type of board game media, a combination of monopoly and snakes and ladders that has been modified. Based on the research results obtained from quantitative data, namely from the average score of the student discipline attitude and responsibility questionnaire obtained through the questionnaire, the average score was 4.6, categorized as very good. Supported by qualitative data obtained from interviews, it also explains that students experience changes in attitudes of discipline and responsibility. Supported by the results of observations carried out for three days which obtained average results which increased every day. From these data it can be concluded that the use of PBL strategies with the help of MABERDI media can improve discipline and responsibility students.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the correlation between sociolinguistic competence and speaking proficiency in language learners while examining their perceptions of these aspects. Conducted using a mixed-methods approach, the research gathered data from 65 participants across multiple universities in Lamongan Regency, East Java, Indonesia. Quantitative analysis involved Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores, structured surveys, and questionnaires assessing sociolinguistic competence. Qualitative insights were obtained from in-depth interviews, illuminating participants' experiences, beliefs, and challenges in diverse social settings related to language use. Quantitative findings indicate a strong correlation between sociolinguistic competence and speaking proficiency. The Pearson correlation coefficient for "Sociolinguistic Competence" was 1.000, confirming a perfect positive correlation, while the correlation between "Sociolinguistic Competence" and "Speaking Proficiency" was .688, signifying a robust positive correlation. Similarly, "Speaking Proficiency" exhibited a .688 correlation with sociolinguistic competence. Qualitative insights emphasized themes such as sociolinguistic norms, language preferences, and challenges in communicative contexts. Participants stressed the importance of adhering to sociolinguistic norms, showcased preferences for specific language styles in diverse contexts, and highlighted challenges in multilingual environments. The study solidifies the significant correlation between sociolinguistic competence and speaking proficiency among participants, emphasizing the pivotal role of sociolinguistic competence in enhancing speaking proficiency. These outcomes stress the reciprocal influence between these dimensions in language learning, emphasizing the need for tailored language learning strategies incorporating sociocultural dimensions. Future research may delve into implementing sociolinguistic approaches in language education to enhance learners' communicative skills and sociolinguistic awareness.
