Abstract

This research was conducted in January - February 2014 in the mangrove forests SungaiAlam Village Bengkalis Sub-district Bengkalis Regency Riau Province. This research aims todetermine the type of mangrove, the type of gastropods, as well as the mangrove density ofrelationship with gastropod abundance in the sungai alam village. The results of researchfound 7 species of mangrove: Avicennia alba, Sonneratia alba, Rhizophora apiculata,Rhizophora mucronata, Rhizophora stylosa, Xylocarpus sp and Lumnitzera sp. Mangrovedensity first station with a total of tree was 2.834 tree/ha, in second station with a total of treewas 3.967 tree/ha and in thrid at three station with a total of tree 4.234 tree/ha. gastropodsfound are 11 species: Nerita funiculata, Cerithidea quadrata, Chicoreus capucinus,Cassidula lutescens, Telescopium telescopium, Ellobium aurisjudae, Littoraria scabra,Littoraria melanostoma, Thais carinifera, Dostia violacea dan Terebralia sulcata, abundanceof gastropods in first station was 85.185 ind/ha, in second stations was 100.000 ind/ha, and inthird station was 203.333 ind/ha. The regression line test between mangrove density withabundance of gastropods showed the equation Y = 10327 + 63,28 x with the determinationcoefisien (R2) is 0,534. Abstract

The research was conducted in Maret 2013. This study aims to understandbivalves communities in mangrove area Mesjid Lama village. The method used in this research is the case study method. This research executed at three perception station with different condition.Data analysis using diversity index (H'), dominance index (C) and equitability index (E) and the value of bivalves abundance. Observations found one families are Corbicullidae.In the surface, the bivalves abundance was ranged from 25.000-51.667ind/ha.; mangrove density 600-1.522trees/ha; diversity index 0,8768 - 0,9446; dominance index 0,558–0,5378; equitability index 0,9142–0,9446; temperatures ranging 29– 31⁰ C; water pH 8; lan pH 7,51-7,62 ; salinity 15-25 o/oo; organic material 34,7-55,1 % and sediment fraction 66,6-75,9 %..Keyword : Community of fish, water quality, activities, Singkarak Lake.

Abstract

This research was conducted from October to Desember 2014 in the Koto Panjang Reservoir Tanjung Alai Village and aims to understand the relation phytoplankton abundance and water quality around the fish cage aquaculture activities. There were 3 stations and 3 sampling points in each station. Water samples were taken 3 times, once/ week. Water quality parameters measured were water temperature, brigthness, DO, pH, nitrate and phospate. Phytoplankton were identified based on Yunfang (1995) and Sachlan (1980). Results shown that there were 4 classes present (3.067–6.275 cell/L), namely Chlorophyceae (12 genus), Bacillariophyceae (8 genus), Cyanophyceae (7 genus), and Xanthophyceae (2 genus). Water quality parameters are as follows temperature: 29.0–30.0 0C, brigthness: 72.7–137.9 cm, DO : 4.7–5. 3 mg/L, pH : 4.7–5.3, nitrate: 0.026–0.030 mg/L, and phosphate : 0.3–0.4 mg/L. It can be concluded that the phytoplankton abundance will be increased as the fish cages amount.Keyword: Phytoplankton Abundance, Koto Panjang Reservoir, Tanjung Alai Village

Abstract

Watas Hutan Lake is one of the oxbow lakes in the Kampar Regency. In the areas around the lake, there are activities such as oil palm, rubber and banana plantations. To understand the water quality in general, a research was conducted from April to May 2015. This research aims to determine the water quality of the lake based on physical and chemical characteristics and makrozoobenthos community structure. There were three stations, 3 sampling points/ station. Water samples were taken 3 times, once/ week. Parameters measured were abundance, uniformity and dominancy index of the macrozoobenthos and several water quality parameters such as temperature, turbidity, depth, total suspended solid, pH, dissolved oxygen, BOD5, nitrate, phosphate, substrate type, and organic materials. Results shown that there were 12 species (4 classes) of macrozoobenthos, with abundance 353 organisms /m2. There were Oligochaeta (4 species), Insects (3 species), Gastropods (3 species), and Bivalves (2 species). In general, the H' was 2.62-2.82; C was 0.17-0.19 and E was 0.79-0.85. Water quality parameters are as follows : temperature 29-300C, turbidity 4.00-6.30 NTU, depths 1.29-4.03 cm, TSS 4.00-5.30 mg/L, pH 5, dissolved oxygen 2.00-2.73 mg/L, BOD5 5.20-5.50 mg/L, nitrate 0.04-0.06 mg/L and phosphate 0.75-1.14 mg/L. The value of WQI-NSF index of the Watas Hutan Lake was 22.21-24.83, indicates that this river is badly polluted. There was muddy substrate with 39.03-42.20% organic materials content in each area. Based on the values of H’, C and E in the macrozoobenthos community, it can be concluded that the aquatic ecosystem in the Watas Hutan Lake is balance.Keyword: Watas Hutan Lake, Macrozoobenthos, Water quality, WQI-NSF

Abstract

Senapelan River is one of the polluted river in Pekanbaru. This research aims to determine the water quality of the river based on physical, chemical and biological parameters, namely the macrozoobenthos community. This research was conducted from May to June 2015. There were three stations, 3 sampling points/ station. Water samples were taken 3 times, once per week. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, turbidity, brightness, current speed, total suspended solid, depths, pH, DO, BOD5, and types of makrozoobentos present.Macrozoobenthos found during the research consist of 5 species that were belonged to three classes, namely Gastropoda (Ampullacea pila, Radix ovata and Viviparus sp) , Oligochaeta (Tubifex sp) ,and Clitellata (Hirudo medicinalis). Water quality parameters in the Senapelan River were as follows: temperature 27-28 0C, turbidity 20.7 to 50 NTU, transparency 8-17 cm, current speed 3.19 to 7.36 cm/sec, TSS 5.67 to 15 mg/L, depth 17-138 cm, pH 6-7, DO 1.68 to 4.79 mg/L, and BOD5 ranged from 10.59 to 17.07 mg/Ll.The value ofBelgium BioticIndex metode of the Senapelan River was 2-3, indicates that this river is badly polluted.Keyword: Senapelan River, water quality, Belgium Biotic Index, Macrozoobenthos

Abstract

Nirwana beach is one of tourist destinations in the Sumatera Barat Province. The input of pollutant originated from anthropogenic activities, however, reducing the water quality and as a consequence negatively affects the seagrass ecosystem as well as the associated organisms, including gastropods. To understand the diversity of gastropod in the seagrass ecosystem and the water quality, a research was conducted on September 2016. There were 3 stations and in each stations there were 3 lines. In each line, 5 quadrants (1 x 1 m2) were placed. Gastropods present inside the quadrant were sampled manually. Results shown that there were 16 gastropods species present, they were Cerithium asper, C. litteratum, C. lutosum, Clithon sp., Clypeomorus bifasciata, Columbella sp., Conus sp., Cypraea sp., Morula margariticola, Nassarius sp., Natica sp., Nerita histrio, N. squamulata, Polinices tumidus, Strombus sp. and Turbo sp. The value of diversity index (H’) was 2.193-2.370 and the dominance index (C) was 0.2485-0.3147. The water quality parameters are as follows : temperature was 30-31 0C; depth was 0.24-0.54 m; pH was 8; salinity was 33.3 0/00 and DO was 4.20-6.35 mg/L. Abstract

In the Koto Panjang Dam, the water quality is affected by pollutant input originated from activities conducted around and in the dam, such as illegal logging, boat activities, households and floating net cage fish culture. To understand the water quality in general, a research was conducted from January 2016. This research aims to determine the water quality of the reservoir based on physical, chemical parameters and saphrobic coefficient (X). There were three stations, 3 sampling points/ station. Water samples were taken 3 times/ week. Water quality parameters measured were water temperature, turbidity, brightness, TSS, pH, DO, BOD5, nitrate and phosphate. While plankton were identified based on Yunfang (1995) and Hiroyuki (1977). Results shown that there were 7 classes of plankton present, namely Cyanophyceae (7 genus), Chlorophyceae (8 genus), Bacillariophyceae (8 genus), Dinophyceae (1 genus), Euglenophyceae (2 genus), Rotifer (1 genus) and Ciliate (1 genus). Water quality parameters are as follows: temperature : 29 – 30 0C, turbidity: 1.6 – 2.7 NTU, brightness : 120 – 145,5 cm, TSS : 26 – 42 mg/L, pH 5 – 6, DO : 5.3 – 6 mg/L, BOD5 : 3.2 – 3.62 mg/L, nitrate : 0.058 – 0.065 mg/L and phosphate : 0.030 – 0.039 mg/L. The saphrobic coefficient (X) of the water was 0.71-0.80 and it means that the Koto Panjang Dam is lightly polluted (mesosaphrobic phase).Keywords : Koto Panjang Dam, fish cage, mesosaphrobic phase, Saphrobic Coefficent

Abstract

ABSTRAKIn the upstream of the Siak River, there are various activities, such as palm plantations, palm oil industry, fishcapture andwater transportation that  produce pollutant and thus affect the water quality. A research aims to determine the quality and quality status of the upstream waters of the Siak River, a study was conducted from April-May 2017. The  water was sampled at 3 stations, with 3 replications. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, pH, current speed, dissolved oxygen, depth, and brightness (in the field), BOD5, COD, TSS, Nitrate, Phosphate, Oil and Fat (in laboratory). Results shown thatthe BOD5 is 16.7 - 38.9 mg/L and oil and fat content was 86,000-339,000 mg/L, these values are higher that that of the standard issued by the Indonesian government. The water temperature ranges from 30-31oC, pH5, current speed 0.3-0.4cm/s, dissolved oxygen 3.1-4.4 mg/L, depth 4-5 m, brightness 35-61cm, COD 8.5-17.6 mg/ L, nitrate 0.56-1.29 mg/L and phosphate 0.24-0.28 mg/L.based on data obtained, it can be concluded that upstream of the Siak River is classified as moderately polluted (score ranged from -20 to - 22). Key words: polluted river,palm oil industry, oil dan fat

Abstract

Abstract            Macrobrachium spp. (Palaemonidae) is commonly inhabit the Lubuk Siam Lake. A research aims to understand the standing stock, relative growth rate and recruitment pattern of the  shrimp in the Lubuk Siam Lake. This study was conducted in March 2018. The shrimp was captured using bamboo traps, 4 times, once/ week. The standing stock was analyzed using DeLury method, while the relative growth rate and recruitment were analyzed using FISAT II software. Results shown that the standing stock of shrimp was 4,174. The asimtot length of growth rate (L∞) ofmale was119.28 mm, K 0.39 and t0-0.0225. The L∞ of female was 108.89 mm, K 1.8 and t0-0.0057. Recruitment percentagein March 7.17% and the highest predicted recruitment is in July (14.46%). Keywords :stock, delury, grow rate, recruitment

Abstract

ABSTRACTIn the swamp area of the Sawah village, there are settlements, agriculture and farms that flew their liquid waste to the swamp and polluting that area. To understand the water quality of the swamp based on macrozoobenthos community, a research was conducted in March-April 2018. The method used is survey method.The location of the sampling is determined using purposive sampling. Samples taken with PVC pipe ( 7 cm diameter), then it was sieved and sorted by hand. Captured macrozoobenthos was preserved with formalin 10%.Parameters measured were the abundance, diversity index, dominance index, and uniformity index. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, depth, pH, and dissolved oxygen.There were 3 stations and in each station, there were 3 sampling points. Macrozoobenthos and water were sampled 3 times, once/week. Result shown that there were 4 types of macrozoobenthos present, namely Annelids (Hirudo sp.), crustaceans(Macrobachium sp.), insects(Ablesmyia sp.) and oligochaete(Lumbricus sp.). The abundance of macrozoobenthos ranged from 59 -113 organisms/m2, diversity index was 0.930-1.740, dominance index was 0.651–0.3524, and uniformity index was 0.588–0.870. The water quality parameters were as follow: temperature 29 – 30 0C, transparency 57- 62 cm, depth 1.22-0.97 m, pH  5 and dissolved oxygen 4.7-4.5 mg/L. Data obtained indicate that the water of the Sawah Village is moderately polluted.Keywords :swamporganism, swamp pollution, diversity index, purposive sampling
