Abstract

The Impact of the Zoom Application on Online Learning during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the Zoom application in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The essence of the problem is what are the processes, constraints, and variations in the form of applying the Zoom application to online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic? In this study using a qualitative research type. The population in this study were students of the State University of Makassar, while the sample selection was students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Department who conducted lectures by applying the zoom application in their lectures provided by the lecturer. The results of the analysis found that the Zoom application is the application that many lecturers choose to interact directly, the variation of online learning used in the zoom application is to combine various other learning applications, namely Kelase, Google Classroom, Google Form, What Up, and others. The constraints faced are the large amount of data or quotas in use, even the material described is not finished because the effective time provided by Zoom is only 40 minutes, also with unsupportive signals, so that sometimes exiting the application, and the difficulty of collecting tasks.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the types of live broadcast media used in the teaching and learning process and explore the constraints experienced by students regarding the learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study applied a qualitative study type. The participants in this study were students of the Indonesian Language and Literature department in the Faculty of Languages and Literature, Universitas Negeri Makassar, Indonesia, in 2019-2020. This study found that the learning media used in the teaching and learning process for a regular meeting during the Covid-19 pandemic as live broadcast application were Zoom, Google Meet, and Streamyard. However, students also experienced that some lecturers only used live broadcast for online examination regarding evaluating the students’ assignment progress submitted to Google Classroom. Students also reported that lecturers use live broadcast applications to teach and other applications, such as Google Classroom and LMS. This study also found out the constraints experienced by students regarding the learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study revealed that the students experienced some constraints in the learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic, such as a large amount of data or quotas in use, the inadequate time provided by media of live broadcast, which is up to about forty minutes. Also, unsupportive signals always make weak audio sounds and sometimes close the application, making it difficult for students to comprehend the materials. Therefore, this study recommends that the lecturers maximize the teaching and learning process to anticipate time, place, and internet data packages as students’ constraints by recording the live broadcast in the form of YouTube live streaming.

Abstract

Pengaruh Penggunaan Bahasa dalam Spanduk Lockdown Wilayah Terhadap Perilaku Sosial Masyarakat Pada Masa Pandemi Covid-19 di Kota Makassar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan bahasa spanduklockdown wilayah terhadap perilaku sosial masyarakat pada masa pandemi covid- 19 di kota Makassar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah jenis penelitian deskriptif-kualitatif. Dalam hal ini sumber data yang dikumpulkan yaitu spanduklockdown wilayah di kota Makassar berjumlah delapan belas buah sebagai sampel. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan cara purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya pengaruh penggunaan bahasa dalam spanduklockdown wilayah terhadap perilaku sosial masyarakat pada masa covid-19 di kota Makassar. Hal ini dibuktikan dari rata-rata jawaban para responden yang berjumlah 70 orang dengan persentase sekitar 62,9% menjawab bahwa ada pengaruh penggunaan bahasa dalam spanduk lockdown wilayah terhadap perilaku sosial masyarakat selama masa pandemi covid-19 di kota Makassar.

Abstract

Pengajaran menulis akademik di kalangan pelajar SMA masih jarang disentuh, karena itu dipandang perlu menerapkan metode khusus dalam pembelajaran menulis akademik. Selain dengan menajamkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, pembelajaran menulis juga dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah atau PBL. Namun, tidak semua guru bahasa Inggris memiliki keinginan yang kuat dalam menerapkan model tersebut apalagi sebagian mereka tidak memahami konsep dasar PBL terutama dalam kaitannya dengan menulis analisis. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, kami mencoba menawarkan salah satu kegiatan pembekalan atau pelatihan yakni PKM pelatihan menulis teks analisis bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan pendekatan Problem Based Learning (PBL). Kegiatan pelatihan ini dilaksanakan secara daring dan dihadiri 9 (sembilan) guru anggota MGMP Bahasa Inggris Ranting Sombaopu, Kab. Gowa. Materi yang diberikan berupa pengenalan umum tentang menulis analisis, pengertian PBL serta pemberian contoh menyusun peta pikiran maupun curah gagasan. Penyuluh berkesimpulan bahwa mitra belum paham dan belum melaksnakan proses PBL di kelas mereka. Dengan demikian materi yang mereka dapatkan dalam PKM kali ini dapat memberikan modal awal penerapan PBL dengan menggunakan pendekatan-pendekatan ilmiah misalnya peta pikiran, curah gagasan serta outline.

Abstract

Mitra Program Kemitraan Komunitas (PKM) ini adalah Siswa SMA Negeri 8 Pinrang. Masalahnya adalah: (1) Kutipan yang ada di karya tulis ilmiah tidak sesuai antara kajian pustaka dan daftar pstaka, begitupun sebaliknya, (2) penulisan daftar pustaka tidak konsisten pada satu style misalnya style APA, (3) Siswa belum mahir menyusun daftar pustaka dengan tepat. Metode yang digunakan adalah: ceramah, observasi, wawancara, dan pelatihan. Hasil yang dicapai adalah (1) mitra memiliki pengetahuan dalam menyusun kutipan dengan baik dan benar, (2) mitra memiliki keterampilan menyusun daftar pustaka dengan berbagai style, (3) mitra memiliki kemampuan untuk mendapatkan referensi riset, dalam mengutip dan mensitasi dengan benar secara online maupun offline.

Abstract

This study explored Mendeley-based thesis supervision models to avoid plagiarism. The focus of this study was four issues: i) Selecting the topic and deciding the thesis title; ii) Browsing and managing references; iii) Validating references; and iv) Matching ideas between the students’ arguments and citing other authors’ statements. This study employed a qualitative method with a case study design to explore an in-depth understanding of the Mendeley-based thesis supervision model to avoid plagiarism. Researchers posted a call for an interview in social media group for an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) lecturer in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. There were 15 EFL lecturers applied, but only four met the criteria. The criteria for choosing the participant are based on the Mendeley presentation experience, full-time teaching career, and willingness to participate in virtual interview sessions. There were two participants from a public university, one was from a private university, and the other was from a state Islamic university. A semi-structured interview technique was applied in this study. This study employed thematic analysis to explore participants' responses. This study reported that supervisors experienced different cases from the four items identified in this study. They are: i) Selecting the topic and deciding the thesis title, ii) Browsing and managing references; iii) Validating references; and vi) Matching ideas between the students' arguments and citing other authors’ statements.

Abstract

This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of Pre-cycle, Cycle I, Cycle II and Cycle III. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of the PAIKEM model can improve student learning outcomes. Each consists of planning, implementation, evaluation and reflection. Learning outcome data obtained by using tests. Analysis of the mastery test of learning outcomes in the pre-cycle reached 26.67%, in the first cycle it reached 53.33%, in the second cycle it reached 60% and in the third cycle it reached 73.33%. Based on the percentage in cycle III it can be said that it has achieved classical learning mastery. The results of the data analysis show that the application of the PAIKEM model can improve student learning outcomes. Based on the results of this research, it is suggested to the teacher that the application of the learning model is applied as an innovation in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

Abstrak. Keterampilan berbicara merupakan keterampilan berbahasa yang banyak diminati karena keterampilan ini adalah keterampilan utama dalam proses komunikasi. Untuk berkomunikasi dibutuhkan keterampilan ataupun metode agar kawan bicara senang sesuai yang kita harapkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan dampak penggunaan metode problem solving dalam keterampilan berbicara berbasis penerapan bahan ajar online. Penelitian eksperimen ini, terdiri dari dua kelompok utuh dari 25 mahasiswa FBS UNM. Para mahasiswa diberikan tes awal dengan menggunakan bahan ajar online untuk memastikan level mereka sama dan homogen. Dua kelompok secara acak ditugaskan ke kelompok kontrol dan eksperimen. Tes diberikan kepada kedua kelompok untuk memastikan homogenitas mereka sebelum perlakuan. Treatmennya, dua kelompok diinstruksikan dalam delapan pertemuan (dua bulan) dengan pendekatan yang berbeda. Kelompok kontrol diberikan perlakuan dengan menggunakan metode pengajaran konvensional dan kelompok eksperimen diajar dengan menggunakan metode problem solving. Akhirnya, post-test diberikan kepada kedua kelompok untuk menilai kemampuan berbicara mereka di akhir penelitian. Untuk membandingkan kemampuan berbicara peserta dalam kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol, dilakukan uji-t. Analisis data menunjukkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen lebih unggul dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan metode problem solving memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berbicara berbasis kesantunan berbahasa  mahasiswa. Kata Kunci:  Keterampilan Berbicara, Problem Solving, Kesantunan Berbahasa, Bahan Ajar Online
