Abstract

Products which have a good brand awareness will get long-term strategic advantages and one way of creating brand awareness is by promotion activities. This research tries to find out the efficiencies of promotion activities by comparing the number of sales with the promotional expenses. Beside that, a survey assigned to customers to collect informations about the most known promotion media in order to get informations about the most effective promotion media. To assure good qualities of the product promoted, the same survey also run to collect informations about differences between customer’s importances and performances level toward product qualities. In addition, customer price sensitivities also asked to get information about potential loss sales to projected revenue if price rising is stated. This research results that 2nd semester (July-December 2007) is the most efficient, and the most effective promotion media are televisions, magazines, promotion events, and newspapers. This research also notes that friends or families are the prime information source for customers to know about ISP X. In order to improve the recent qualities, here are given some qualities atributes that urgently need according to customers to be fixed. In other side, it also noted that customers are somewhat price-sensitive. However, better offer from competitor still looks more risky than price rising issue itself, though with better qualities present.

Abstract

The company carries out various ways to be able to meet customer demand quickly, one of which is to speed up the production process. In the printing process, the company encountered a problem, one of which was the high downtime caused by the setup process. The standard setup time determined by the company is 150 minutes but in fact the time required is 211.33 minutes. This shows that there are inefficient methods applied by the company. In this study, we will evaluate the work method to get errors so that the setup duration becomes high. This study will draw on the Modified Cooper Harper Scale and Single Minute Exchange of Dies (MCH-SMED) method to balance the workload between operators so that the setup time can be reduced. The MCH method is used to analyze the mental and physical workload on an operator based on a tree decision scale so that it can balance the workload between operators. SMED is used to identify on-line and off-line operations in the setup process. This study aims to produce a comparison of the standard setup times that have been set by the company and after evaluating the integration process of printing machine setup (MCH-SMED). The results of this study are to obtain a new sequence of operations that can reduce the duration of setup time to 143.19 minutes or be able to reduce the setup time by 32%

Abstract

During the production process DU base frame product has been found quite a defect occurrence. Defects occurring during the production process of course affect the cost, time and quality of the product production of PT. X, so it is required a handling to overcome the risk of defects that occur so that the product is free from the risk of defects that do not and improve product quality. The method that can overcome the problem above is to predict the risk of product defect by designing a risk management process framework. The risk management planning process is a stage identifying the risk of defects that have occurred or the risk of malformed defects occurred and then conducting a risk-defect analysis, then evaluating the risks of such defects and risk treatment and Monitoring and review. There are also tools and methods used in this risk management study are fishbone and FMEA. Fishbone is used as a tool as a method to cause identification while FMEA is used in risk analysis to determine risk priority number (RPN). From RPN defects that have the highest value will be taken risk evaluation and risk treatment to prevent the same defect. With this research in hopes of the results of quality, cost and production time in DU Base Frame products can remain consistent and give rise to the awareness of the personnel involved in the product manufacturing process. From risk mitigation results found there are 4 out of 56 risk cases that belong to the high-risk category in the process of milling (RPN 288), blasting (RPN 288 & 224) and painting (256). These risks are then conducted advice on the improvements that are discussed with the team and the costumer and the result of defects that occur reduced even eliminated. The importance of the detailed procedures and the awareness of each personnel involved becomes one of the keys to avoid risk in the production process of a product

Abstract

Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) is one of maintenance method that believed to be the most effective at reduction of cost and number of activities than the other maintenance methods. Degradation monitoring condition is an important things in order to get effective CBM system. The rapid development in information and communication has lead our industrial phase to industry 4.0, where are lot of smart objects can be connected and integrated in one network system, which is called Internet of Things (IoT). IoT facilitates monitoring and controlling to an object, and help maintenance system to monitor, record, and analyze the degradation of the object. Furthermore, with real time monitoring, system could detect and make decision when is maintenance activity should be done with consideration in cost. This research focused in the issue of integration of many smart objects to support CBM activities in cost reduction and IoT decision making with cost minimization as criteria. Cost analysis has been done using Activity Based Costing (ABC) and mathematical model has been constructed for decision making criteria which will be tested with numerical test using the data that gathered from company which applied IoT system. There are three condition which are tested: system without IoT implementation, current system with IoT implementation (auto shutdown when machine stroke reaches 300), and IoT system that consider the degradation condition to shut down. The result shows that IoT based CBM system that consider degradation level will incur optimal number of activities which resulting in fewer cost that the other systems. With fewer activity maintenance than auto-shutdown at 300 strokes, shows that the productivity increase without any delay due to maintenance

Abstract

Abstract. This study develops a model of integration between the application of the concept of Kano in QFD framework and considering the use of product development costs. Kano concept would classify the product attributes into 5 categories: reverse, indifference, one-dimensional, must-be, dan attractive. These attributes are given different weights based on the influence of these attributes on the level of consumer satisfaction. Furthermore, the allocation process of product development by taking into account the contribution of the cost of each technical response. The result of the integration is allocate development funds for must-be attributes and do not allocate to the reverse and indifference attributes. Thus, companies avoid the development of product attributes indifference and reverse that does not give effect to increasing customer satisfaction so that it saves development costs. The results of this model are all the technical response both in the category of must-be, one-dimensional and attractive product development funds be allocated with total costs of $ 348,30 and the value of customer satisfaction of 89,61, whereas the model Bode and Fung (1998) make the decision to realize all technical response including technical response that does not affect satisfaction (indifference) so the total product development costs become $ 353,30.Keywords: Kano, QFD, budget for product development, optimization of customer satisfaction

Abstract

This research identifies non-value added activities and minimizes waste in the production process at a gold mine. Problems that occur include the presence of waste defects in the form of choke ore materials, mismatches in dore bullion printing, and equipment damage. Then the waste waiting caused by low-level bin ore and the presence of ponding during leaching. In addition, there is also waste over processing in the form of carbon regeneration and transportation processes in the form of altered and distant ore transportation distances. The occurrence of waste can be reduced/eliminated using the Lean Mining approach which is a method to streamline the process by eliminating/reducing the presence of waste in the mining process. Identify waste using the Waste Assessment Model (WAM) tools. The results of the analysis show that the highest waste rating is a defect, motion, waiting, and process with successive percentages of the largest i.e. 20.75%, 18.42%, 17.57%, and 14.36%. From these results then recommendations for improvements that can be proposed are controlling the size and composition of ore-sized mixtures, increasing the efficiency of the crusher using TPM analysis, optimizing maintenance, making machines/systems automatically filling gold solutions, and making standardized work
