Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mempelajari pertumbuhan populasi S. oryzae dan karakteristik kehilangan bobot pada jenis beras dari berbagai varietas padi yang berbeda selama masa penyimpanan.  Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Agroekoteknologi Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Malikussaleh. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei sampai September 2014. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan perlakuan jenis beras dari berbagai varietas padi yang terdiri dari empat taraf yaitu beras dari varietas Inpari Sidenuk, Mekongga, Ciherang, dan IR 64.  Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak lima kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan jenis beras dari berbagai varietas padi mempengaruhi pertumbuhan populasi S. oryzae, perubahan kadar air, dan karakteristik kehilangan bobot beras selama penyimpanan.  Pertumbuhan dan laju pertumbuhan populasi paling tinggi dijumpai pada beras dari varietas Inpari Sidenuk.  Terdapat korelasi positif dan sangat nyata antara populasi S. oryzae dengan perubahan kadar air (r = 0,993; p 0,01), persentase kehilangan bobot (r = 0,996; p 0,01), persentase beras berlubang (r = 0,996; p 0,01), serta korelasi positif dan nyata antara perubahan kadar air dengan persentase kehilangan bobot (r = 0,980; p 0,05) dan persentase beras berlubang (r = 0,989; p 0,05). Persentase kehilangan bobot beras dipengaruhi oleh persentase beras berlubang akibat serangan hama S. oryzae (r = 0,997; p 0,01).  Population Growth of Sitophilus oryzae L. (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) and Characteristics Weight Loss on RiceThe research aims to study the population growth of S. oryzae and characteristics weight loss on different types of rice from a variety of different varieties paddy during storage. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Malikussaleh. The research was conducted since month May until September 2014. The study used completely randomized design (CRD) with treatment the type of rice of different varieties which consists of four levels is rice from the varieties Inpari Sidenuk, Mekongga, Ciherang, and IR 64. Each treatment was repeated five times. The results showed that different types of rice from rice varieties affect population growth S. oryzae, changes moisture content, and weight loss characteristics of rice during storage. Growth and rate of population growth the highest found on rice varieties Inpari Sidenuk. There are correlation positive and highly significant  between the population of S. oryzae with changes in moisture content (r = 0.993; p 0.01), the percentage of weight loss (r = 0.996; p 0.01), the percentage of seed damaged (r = 0.996; p 0.01), as well as positive correlation and significant between changes in the water content by percentage of weight loss (r = 0.980; p 0.05) and the percentage of seed damaged (r = 0.989; p 0.05). The percentage weight loss affected by the percentage of grain attack due to pests S. oryzae (r = 0.997; p 0.01).

Abstract

Toxicity n-hexane leaf extract Lantana camara and its active fractions were evaluated for their insecticidal activit  ies against Plutella xylostella larvae. The method included sample extraction, fractionation, and toxicity examination of leaf extract L. camara and its active fractions against P. xylostella larvae.  The extracts were applied by residue method.  Fractionation of active compounds from extract n-hexane was conducted by a vacuum liquid chromatography by using a stationary phase of silicate gel GF254­ and mobile phase of n-hexane, etil acetate, and methanol which produced five  fractions, that is fractions A, B, C, D, and E.  Leaf extract of  L. camara and its fractions possessed an insecticidal activity  causing mortality to P. xylostella larvae. The results showed that LC50 of crude extract at 3 and 4 day after applications was 0,936 and 0,651%, while LC50 of fractions A = 0,386 and 0,178%; fractions C = 0,327 and 0,132; fractions D = 0,617 and 0,318%; fractions E = 0,622 and 0,244%.

Abstract

The selection rice of resistant to pests S. oryzae can be done through the utilization of local paddy germplasm. The study aims to determine the level of resistance of local upland rice Aceh to against pest infestation S. oryzae. The results showed that the local paddy rice from upland Aceh has a level resistance from resistance until moderately to susceptible to pest infestations S. oryzae. The rice from varieties Depet classified in the category-resistant, while varieties Putih, Toa, and Bontok classified in the moderate category. Local rice upland Aceh from varieties Pulo Aceh and Tajuk classified in the category of moderate to susceptible to pest attack S. oryzae during storage rice. Results of correlation analysis showed that resistance rice local upland Aceh affected by moisture content (r = 0.864*; P<0.05). Results of correlation analysis showed that positive correlation non significant between resistance with characteristic dimensions of rice such as length (r = 0.106; P> 0.01), negative correlation non significant with wide (r = -0.339; P>0.01), and a positive correlation non significant with ratio (r = 0.167; P>0.01). The content of protein and moisture content of the rice had a positive correlation with the population of adult S. oryzae (moisture content: r = 0.928**; protein: r = 0.884** P<0.01), the percentage of perforated rice (moisture content: r = 0.872* P<0.05; protein: r = 0.945** P<0.01), and the percentage of rice powder (moisture content: r = 0.912**; protein: r = 0.951** P<0.01) during storage

Abstract

ABSTRACT Sorghum is a food crop commodity that has important potential as a source of food and renewable energy for food and energy independence during the COVID-19 pandemic. Community service activities regarding processing sorghum into food and energy are very important in dealing with food dependence on rice and fuel energy from crude oil. Through extension activities and training on sorghum processing, it is hoped that it can increase public knowledge about sorghum and its processing. The method used is counseling and training on sorghum processing to the community. Extension and training activities for processing sorghum into alternative food and renewable energy in order to increase community knowledge in Blang Nibong Village, Samudera District, North Aceh Regency have been carried out and can be well received by the community. The community is very enthusiastic about participating in the service activities. The community has knowledge of the processing of sorghum into sorghum flour as an ingredient for processed food products such as steamed brownies, krispi tofu spices, cakes, and nagasari. Partners also have knowledge about other benefits of sorghum, namely as a renewable energy source. Sorghum stalks are known to contain bioethanol as fuel. Programs like this are very important to carry out, especially for people living in rural areas that have the potential for developing sorghum areas so that the program will be sustainable.

Abstract

Training in mushroom cultivation has been chosen to be conducted in this community empowerment program, as we believe that this training can support the community in Desa Mesjid, Syamtalira Aron District Aceh Utara, not only to increase their income, but also can enrich their knowledge in serving healthier diets for their family. The main objective of this program was to increase community income and to enrich the knowledge about healthy foods by teaching them how to cultivate oyster mushroom. The results showed that the community was enthusiastic and satisfied with knowledge they obtained from the training. Ninety percent of them said it was a great, informative and useful activity. There is an increase in their knowledge about mushroom cultivation from 23% to 78%, and also how to process the mushroom into crispy fried mushroom and mushroom nugget and then to market them from 23% to 73%.

Abstract

Plasma nutfah padi lokal memiliki sifat keunggulan yang spesifik seperti aroma wangi, pulen, dan tahan terhadap hama. Penelitian tentang ketahanan beras terhadap Sitophilus oryzae dapat dilakukan dengan pengujian kerentanan beras dari berbagai aksesi padi lokal. Beras lokal Aceh belum teridentifikasi memiliki sifat fisik dan kimia sebagai sumber ketahanan terhadap infestasi S. oryzae. Penelitian bertujuan menentukan klasifikasi kerentanan beras dari plasma nutfah padi lokal Aceh terhadap hama S. oryzae selama penyimpanan. Beras lokal Aceh antara lain Sigudang, Segaru, Lilin, Malaya, Aweuh, Cantik Lembayan, Beras Merah, Siwe, Surya, Sitinggong, Sirangkoh, dan Sigupai. Evaluasi kerentanan beras menggunakan metode tanpa pilihan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan beras lokal Aceh memiliki tingkat kerentanan terhadap S. oryzae yang berbeda-beda. Beras Malaya tergolong moderat, sedangkan beras Sigudang, Segaru, Lilin, Cantik Lembayan, Sirangkoh Mirah, dan Awueh tergolong moderat sampai rentan. Beras Merah, Siwe, Surya, Sigupai, dan Sitinggong tergolong dalam katagori rentan terhadap serangan hama S. oryzae selama penyimpanan beras. Kerentanan beras lokal Aceh dipengaruhi kandungan kimia beras seperti kadar air, lemak, protein, dan serat.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to reveal the influence of the type of gadung to the produced ethanol content, the yeast concentration which is suitable to get the maximum ethanol and to know the interaction between the type of gadung and the yeast concentration on the ethanol content produced. The research using Randomized Complete Design with factorial pattern consisted of 2 factors: the gadung bulb type (U), as the first factor consisting of white gadung tuber (U1) and yellow bulb tuber (U2) second factor yeast concentration consisting of 2 , 5% (R1), 3% (R2), 3.5% (R3). Fermentation duration is done for 3 days. Each treatment is repeated 3 times. The results showed that the proximate analysis on two types of gadung is highest in white gadung. The average width of the highest gadung leaves on white gadung . Test brix on the highest gadung tubers on white gadung. On observation of the highest yield of ethanol occurs on the type of white gadung  and 2.5% yeast concentration. The best type of mass observation occurred in yellow gadung tuber type and 2.5% yeast concentration. Observation of initial pH of ethanol was highest in white gadung and yeast concentration 2.5%. Observation of pH after distillation is highest on white gadung and at yeast concentration 2.5%. The highest concentration of ethanol content on yellow gadung and at yeast consentation 2.5%. The observation of the highest ash content on yellow gadung and at yeast concentration 3.5%.

Abstract

Kacang tanah merupakan tanaman palawija yang berpeluang dalam pengembangan agroindustri dalam peningkatkan sector ekonomi. Agar tanaman tumbuh secara optimal dan berproduksi dengan baik diperlukan  pemberian mulsa dan pupuk organik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pertumbunan dan hasil tanaman kacang tanah dengan penggunaan mulsa dan pupuk organik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor pemberian mulsa berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman pada umur tanaman 2, 4, 6 dan 8 MST dan berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah daun pada 4 MST dan terhadap jumlah polong pertanaman. Sedangkan pemberian pupuk organik berpengaruh sangat nyata pada pengamatan tinggi tanaman 2 MST dan jumlah polong.  Interaksi antara kedua faktor memberikan pengaruh nyata pada pengamatan jumlah polong dan tinggi tanaman pada umur tanaman 2 dan 8 minggu setelah tanam (MST) dan berpengaruh sangat nyata pada pengamatan tinggi tanaman pada 6 MST. Kata kunci : kacang tanah, mulsa, pupuk organic

Abstract

Arbuscular mycorrhiza expected to increase the growth and yield of soybean. However, during the application requires another materials as growth media or spores carrier such as compos and zeolite. Zeolites are used as promoters  for plant  growth and  development for the better  through  the efficient use of fertilizers. These minerals can retain  nitrogen content in the soil, improve the quality of solid organic  fertilizer and liquid waste. Zeolites can improve the efficiency of fertilizer use, both in stimulating plant growth and development and to increase agricultural  output. Furthermore, it will support the work function of arbuscular  mycorrhiza as root simbion

Abstract

Berbagai limbah hasil pengolahan bahan-bahan pertanian memiliki potensi yang besar untuk diolah menjadi bahan bakar alternatif pengganti batubara dan bahan bakar minyak (BBM). Bahan bakar alternatif tersebut meliputi bioetanol, biodiesel, biogas, dan biobriket. Bahan bakar altenatif merupakan sumber energi terbarukan. Penggunaan bahan bakar alternatif ini akan menjadi penting di saat batubara dan bahan bakar minyak telah mengalami penurunan produksi. Bahan bakar alternatif berpotensi besar untuk menggantikan bahan bakar fosil di masa yang akan datang.Kata Kunci :  limbah pertanian, bahan bakar alternatif, bahan bakar fosil, energi terbarukan
