Abstract

SD GMIM 54 Lapangan meupakan salah satu dati sekian banyak sekolah dasar yang ada di kota Manado. Pemerintah Kota Manado melalui Dinas Pendidikan terus berupaya meningkatkan mutu Pendidikan dengan berbagai program. Walaupun demikian masih banyak yang dibutuhkan oleh pihak sekolah baik dilihat dari tim pengajar, peserta didik dan beberapa hal yang menunjang kegiatan belajar mengajar. Pengabdian Masyarakat ini bertujuan memberikan pelatihan bahasa Inggris melalui media visual sebagai media pembelajaran kedapa siswa SD GMIM 54 Lapangan. Target dan luaran yang dihasilkan dari kegiatan ini yaitu : Adanya minat dan daya tarik dalam mempelajari bahasa Inggris karena materi dan penyampaiannya menggunakan konsep belajar sambil bermain sehingga kegiatan belajar menjafi aktif dan para siswa tidak bosan dan tidak menjadi satu beban dalam mempelajari materi yang disampaikan. Luaran yang diharapkan mealui PKM didanai melaui Dana DIPA UNIMA adalah dalam DIPA Program Kemitraan Masyarakat yang didanai oleh UNIMA adapun luaran yang dihasilkan dalam bentuk Artikel atau Jurnal :PKM SD GMIM 54 Lapangan . Oleh karena itu diharapkan agar kegiatan seperti ini kembali dapat dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan ketrampilan berbahasa para sisw-siswa SD setelah memperoleh ketrampilan dasar ini

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find the hyperbole and to reveal the meaning of the hyperbole in “Moana” movie. The researcher used qualitative research in conducting the research. The data are collected from the primary source, that is the Moana movie. In analyzing the data, the researcher used the steps as follow 1). Organizing and familiarizing, 2) coding and reducing, 3) interpreting and representing. The result of this research proved that there are so many hyperboles in Moana movie. The researcher found twenty eight (28) hyperbolic expression. It can be classified into eight (8) Single word hyperbole, six (6) Pharsal hyperbole, five (5) clausal hyperbole, one (1) numerical hyperbole, five (5) the role of superlative, and four (4) repetition. Based on analysis the researcher found that the forms of hyperbole expression most dominantly used in Moana movie there were single word hyperbole eight (8) data.

Abstract

This research aimed to see the effectiveness of using Wordlist plus picture in increasing students’ stock of vocabulary at the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 2 Tenga. This research used pre- experimental designed with one group pre-test and post-test. The result of this research found that Wordlist plus picture was effective in increasing students’ stock of vocabulary. The result showed that post-test was higher than pre-test. The mean score of pre-test was 5.00 and the mean score of post-test is 7.25 which means that the result of the post-test is higher than the pre-test. It can be stated that the students’ stock of vocabulary at the seventh grade of SMP N 2 Tenga is high in the post-test. So, it means Wordlist plus picture is effective in increasing students’ stock ofvocabulary at the seventh grade of SMP N 2 Tenga.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out whether the use of Word Cards is able to increase students’ vocabulary. The students at SMP NEGERI 6 KAKAS in academic year 2019/2020 were chosen as the subject of this study, specified to the seventh grade that consisted of 18 students. This research used pre-experimental design with one group pretest and post-test. This study consisted in five meetings. First the researcher gave a pretest next treatment and the last posttest. The technique in collecting data used test as instrument in form of matching item test consisted with 25 numbers. The result of this study found that Word Cards was effective in increasing students’ vocabulary where post-test was higher than pre-test. The mean score pre-test was 8.27 and the mean score of post-test was 14.61. It can be stated that Word Card is considered effective to increase students’ vocabulary.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out students’ perceptions toward a learning media for EFL speaking skills. The purpose of this study is to find out students’ perceptions toward a learning media for EFL speaking skills. In this research, the researcher used questionnaires. The method of data analysis was descriptive method, which is analysing the data by illustrating the object of the research. The population of this research was the second-grade students of SMA Lokon St. Nikolaus Tomohon. There were 4 classes that spread into 2 science classes and 2 social classes. There were 107-second year students. And the sample was taken from science and social class based on the teacher’s recommendation. There were 35 students participating in this research to answer the questionnaires. Based on the results of this study, it was found that the students’ perception toward the statements was dominated positively because students were having a great experience in watching Video Blog. As conclusion, YouTube English Vlog was considered effective to the second-year students of SMA Lokon St. Nikolaus Tomohon. English teachers were suggested to always do something creative, follow the technology, and improve what needs to be improved for example blending the media with some interesting stimulations.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the use of images can improve students' reading comprehension of descriptive text. This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 6 Manado. This study was quantitative study with one group pre-test and post-test as the design. The teaching method used for treatment was images. The population of this study consisted of 7 classes in the second grade, and the sample of this study consisted of VIII, and 25 students. They analyzed statistically, taking into account the average score of the test. The results of this study showed that the post-examination score was higher than the pre-examination. The average score for the post-test (T2) is 8,52 and the average score for the pre-test (T1) is 5. This shows that the use of diagrams improves the student's comprehension of the explanatory text. The results of can conclude that it is effective to use figures when teaching explanatory texts.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to improve the students’ vocabulary through the use of Glossing technique. The design of this research is quantitative research through pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test design This study was conducted at SMP Anugrah  Tondano. The subject of the research was the second grade students in academic year of 2019/2020. The writer used reading text of Narrative text .The result of the data analysis showed that there was an increase between the pre-test and post-test. It can be seen from 10 students showed that the mean score of pre-test was 53 and  post-test was 74 score. Based on this finding from this study, it can be concluded that having more vocabulary significantly affects the comprehension of the students reading activity. Moreover by having many vocabularies the students can easily get the information and can enrich their knowledge by reading a lot of book. Finally, this research proved that theGlossing technique effective to improve student’s vocabulary in reading comprehension.

Abstract

Many people think learning a language is easy because they assume we are using the language every day. Learning a language is not just being able to communicate with the language, but also know and understand the meaning contained in the word or phrase that pronounced. In study languages, especially English, most of the students experiencing difficulty in speaking or talking. Difficulty talk is usually caused by the difficult to express ideas orally, limited vocabulary, limited knowledge of grammar so it is difficult to talk with the correct rules, limited ability to properly pronounce vocabulary (pronounciation), so it is difficult to pronounce a word with true, the lack of courage to speak out because of fear of being wrong. To facilitate the ability to speak(speaking), there are some pretty effective way to try, among them: expand the vocabulary, read aloud,get to know the simple English,read English, conversation English, listening to English songs, watching English movies,love the subjects English. In this paper also discussed methods teaching role-play and media pictorial story to improve the ability of English-speaking students.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic situation has changed many aspects of life, including the learning process. In this regard, researchers are interested in analyzing teachers' perceptions of online learning. This study explains teachers' opinions about online learning and its impact, such as the disadvantages, advantages, and difficulties of online learning during the pandemic. This study uses qualitative research using questionnaires through a google form. The resource persons in this study were English teachers in North Sulawesi, totaling ten teachers. The main target of this research is the teacher's perception because they have experience in online learning in a pandemic situation. From the research data, 90% of teachers choose face-to-face in the learning process because they cannot interact directly with students and experience difficulties in the learning process due to internet access problems. Although online learning has many difficulties and weaknesses, there is no choice but to stop the spread of COVID-19. We must continue to study online. Here teachers and students are equally challenged in creative and active online learning methods and objects. One of the most important is the stability of the internet network, then adequate devices or computers, applications with accessible platforms, and online socialization that carry out efficiently, effectively, sustainably, and integrative to all interested parties in the field of education.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out whether using Anki-flashcard can increase students' vocabulary as a learning-teaching aid in learning English. The object of this research was grade 7th students consisted of 20 students at SMP Berea Tondano. This was quantitative research of pre-test and post-test with pre-experimental design. The data pre-test and post-test were collected using 20 items multiple-choice test. The results of this research indicate that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test. The results of mean score showed improvement between the pre-test (53) and the post-test (90), with the post-test score higher than the pre-test. Therefore, it can be said that the use of the Anki-Flashcard was effective in increasing students' vocabulary. English teachers were suggested to use Anki-Flashcard in teaching and learning to help students remember words more easily.
