Abstract

This research discusses conflict resolution in the lives of Javanese transmigrants in the Paya Tungel Village, Jagong Jeget district, through the mediation of the Jagong Jeget district, which depends on the customary law applied by the indigenous population in Gayo land. In the customary law of the Islamic community in Jagong Jeget, conflict resolution involves the role of Tuha Peut (Village Government). A descriptive qualitative research method was used to obtain in-depth explanations through four informants who are Tuha Peut (Village Government) in Paya Tungel Village. The results show that conflict resolution in Paya Tungel uses mediation, reconciliation, and sanctions/laws to deter perpetrators, as well as guidance by Tuha Peut (Village Government) if the problem cannot be resolved within the family. Ralf Dahrendorf suggests mediation and reconciliation methods in resolving conflicts, as well as through compromise (Consensus) by recognizing differences in interests and seeking common ground acceptable to all parties involved.

Abstract

For library development, one of the most important aspects to consider is the collection of information. The purpose of this study focuses on the effect of the availability of online proquest journals on meeting user information needs in the Library of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences USU. This type of research is descriptive research using qualitative approach methods. This research data collection technique is through observation, interviews, and documentation. The result of this study is the availability of online ProQuest journals in the Library of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, based on good perceptions of library users, and the affirmation of library users that they are looking for reference materials for lecture assignments from online ProQuest journals rather than libraries. It has been used effectively by library patrons as a resource to aid in the creation of coursework. This journal provides a source of current and accurate information that can be used as a reference when completing courses and research. Thus, Proquest Journal has a significant impact on users' information demands. Library of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of North Sumatra.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui etos kerja pedagang muslim perantau khususnya salah satu etnis mandailing yang peneliti ingin lihat di pasar tradisional Teluk Panji IV dalam mengerjakan usahanya sebagai pedagang serta untuk mengetahui praktik sosial ekonomi dalam Islam yang bagaimana telah di syari’atkan Allah SWT dan Rasulullah dalam berdagang. Pedagang etnis mandailing ini juga melakukan persaingan berdagang dengan para pedagang etnis lainnya dalam mencari pelanggan di pasar tradisional Teluk Panji IV. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, data lapangan menunjukan bahwa etos kerja pedagang muslim perantau di pasar tradisional desa Teluk Panji IV telah menunjukan etos kerja yang semangat tinggi dari turun-temurun seperti: kedisiplinan, tanggung jawab, serta kejujuran dan kerja keras pantang menyerah yang selalu diterapkan etnis mandailing sebelum merantau ke desa ini yang sudah ada sejak turun-temurun dari keluarga yang memiliki usaha dagang dan etnis mandailing ini dapat menjadikan dagangan tersebut lebih maju dan berhasil hingga sekarang. Sehingga etos kerja dalam berdagang etnis mandailing itu sangat penting dipertahankan dan diterapkan dengan baik untuk menjadikan dagangan atau usaha yang ditekuni semakin sukses. Kata Kunci: Etos Kerja, Pedagang Muslim, Perantau Etnis Mandailing. ABSTRACTThis research was conducted with the aim of knowing the work ethic of nomadic Muslim traders, especially one of the mandailing ethnicities that researchers want to see in the traditional market of Teluk Panji IV in doing his business as a trader and to find out socioeconomic practices in Islam which have been shari'a of Allah SWT and the Messenger of Allah in trading. These mandailing ethnic traders also conducted trade competition with other ethnic merchants in search of customers in the traditional market of Panji IV bay. Based on the results of the study, field data shows that the work ethic of nomadic Muslim traders in the traditional market of Teluk Panji IV village has shown a high spirit work ethic from generation to generation such as: discipline, responsibility, as well as honesty and unyielding hard work that has always been applied by the mandailing ethnicity before migrating to this village which has existed for generations from families who have trading businesses and this mandailing ethnicity can make the trade more advanced and successful until now. So that the work ethic in trading ethnic mandailing is very important to maintain and apply well to make the trade or business that is engaged in more successful. Keywords: Work Ethic, Muslim Merchants, Mandailing Ethnic Nomads.

Abstract

This article discusses the Public Relations (PR) strategies implemented by the Department of Communication and Informatics (Diskominfo) of Binjai City to enhance the positive image of the Binjai City Government. This study adopts a qualitative approach, analyzing primary data from interviews with the head of the news and audiovisual division and the IKP (Public Communication and Information) team members of Diskominfo Binjai, along with secondary data from related documents. The analysis reveals that Diskominfo Binjai has employed various PR strategies, including information campaigns, social media activities, public events, and collaboration with local mass media. It was also found that the use of information and communication technology (ICT) is an integral part of their PR strategy. This study highlights the importance of PR in building and maintaining a positive image of local government in the current digital era, particularly concerning sensitive issues.
