Abstract

Textbook is one of learning sources used in history learning in school. History learning has function to preserve collective memories and necessary values, such as Bhineka Tunggal Ika. This research aims to reveal depiction and representation of  Bhineka Tunggal Ika value in history textbooks. It is qualitative research using critical discourse analysis, particularly representative analysis model by Roger Fowler.  Data sources in the research are the senior high school textbooks based on 2006 curriculum which can be downloaded at bse.kemdikbud.go.id. website. Method of collecting data is conducted by documentation technique. The validity of discourse analysis refers to  Ibnu Hamad’s opinion, namely holistic, historical situatedness, and theory. Next, analysis is conducted using critical discourse analysis by Fairclough  namely description, interpretation and explanation. The result of research shows that Bhineka Tunggal Ika is represented in various themes such as assimilation/acculturation/ syncretism, differences/diversity/plurality/complexity/multicultural, distinction/discrimination and unity. Bhineka Tunggal Ika should be understand as both  a result and continuous process. Buku teks merupakan salah satu sumber belajar yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran sejarah di sekolah. Pembelajaran sejarah berfungsi untuk melestarikan memori kolektif dan nilai-nilai yang dianggap penting, salah satunya Bhineka Tunggal Ika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk mengungkap penggambaran dan representasi nilai Bhineka Tunggal Ika dalam buku teks sejarah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode analisis wacana kritis, terutama analisis representasi model Roger Fowler. Sumber data pada penelitian ini adalah buku teks sejarah SMA berdasarkan kurikulum 2006 yang dapat diunduh pada laman bse.kemdikbud.go.id. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik dokumentasi.Validitas analisis wacana mengacu pada pendapat Ibnu Hamad, yaitu holistic, historical situatedness, dan teori.Selanjutnya analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan model analisis wacana kritis Fairclough yaitu deskripsi, interpretasi, dan eksplanasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Bhineka Tunggal Ika direpresentasikan dalam berbagai tema seperti pembauran/akulturasi/sinkretisme, perbedaan/ keragaman/ pluralitas/ kemajemukan/ multikultural, pembedaan/diskriminasi serta persatuan dan kesatuan. Bhineka Tunggal Ika perlu dipahami sebagai hasil maupun proses yang terus berlanjut.

Abstract

Abstrak: Buku Sekolah Elektonik (BSE) Sejarah SMA merupakan historiografi untuk tujuan pendidikan. Buku teks sejarah merupakan bagian dari sejarah resmi negara yang mengandung banyak wacana ideologi negara. Wacana-wacana dalam buku teks sejarah tersebut dapat dilihat sebagai praktik ideologi yang memproduksi hubungan yang tidak seimbang antara rakyat dan negara sebagai bagian dari hegemoni. Oleh karenanya sangat penting untuk mengungkap wacana-wacana ideologi negara dengan menggunakan analisis wacana kritis. Abstract: History Electronic Textbook for High School is a historiography for educational purpose. History textbook is part of the state’s official history that contains many state ideological discourses. Those discourses on history textbook could be seen as ideological practiced which produce inequality relations between people and the state as part of hegemony. It is important to reveal the state ideological discourses by using critical discourse analysis.

Abstract

Nowadays, information and communication technology has been accelerated. This condition also influence on the shift of students attitude toward knowledge and education. Therefore, teacher or lecturer must be creative to deal with this digital generation, for example by developing engaging media. This attempt become more and more important to do especially on history learning since many students considers this subject as dull and meaningless. This research tries to develop an engaging history learning media by using sigil software. The method used in this research is following Sadiman’s model in media development which consist of several stages (1) identification of needs, (2) intention analysis, (3) content development (4) formulating of success measuring instrument, (5) media script writing, (6) validation, (7) revision, and (8) production . From the analysis, it can be inferred that the sigil based e-book with MindMaple content is valid. The percentage of media expert validation is 86%, media expert validation is 85% and small group trial is 96,25%. Therefore this media is feasible to use in the “Technology and Information for History Learning” course. The advantages of this e-book are low cost, easy to use, and engaging. Perkembangan teknologi dan komunikasi telah mengalami akselerasi akhir-akhir ini. Kondisi ini juga berpengaruh terhadap perubahan sikap siswa atau mahasiswa mengenai pendidikan dan pengetahuan. Oleh karenanya, guru dan dosen harus kreatif dalam menghadapi generasi digital. Usaha ini penting untuk dilakukan mengingat pembelajaran sejarah seringkali dianggap membosankan dan tidak bermakna. Penelitian ini berusaha untk mengembangkan media pembelajaran sejarah yang menarik dengan menggunakan perangkat lunak sigil. Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan dari Sadiman yang terdiri atas beberapa tahap (1) identifikasi kebutuhan, (2) analisis tujuan, (3) pengembangan materi, (4) penyusunan instrumen pengukur keberhasilan, (5) penulisan instrumen pengukur keberhasilan, (6) validasi, (7) revisi, dan (8) produksi. Berdasarkan analisis yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa e-book berbasis sigil dengan materi MindMaple valid. Percentase dari ahli media adalah 86%, validasi ahli materi 85%, dan uji coba kelompok kecil 96,25%. Oleh karenanya media ini layak untuk digunakan dalam Matakuliah Teknologi Informasi untuk Pembelajaran Sejarah. Kelebihan dari e-book ini adalah murah, mudah digunakan, dan menarik.

Abstract

History does not only teach about certain facts or events that occurred in the past but also teaches about empathy since it emphasizes every aspect of human life. Students could learn about historical empathy trough reflective learning. This research explains teaching historical empathy trough reflective learning, especially teaching social history course. This research was conducted by a qualitative method using a case study design. The researcher collected the data through observation and documentation taken during the Social History Course in the 2016/2017 academic year. Those collected data were then analyzed using a Miles and Huberman interactive model. Based on this research, reflective learning is a model that can be used to teach historical empathy. The role of a lecturer is necessary to promote historical empathy, especially in helping students to make an affective connection to the past.Keywords: empathy, social history, reflective learning Sejarah tidak hanya mengajarkan tentang fakta atau peristiwa tertentu yang terjadi di masa lalu tetapi juga mengajarkan tentang empati karena itu menekankan setiap aspek kehidupan manusia. Siswa dapat belajar tentang empati sejarah melalui pembelajaran reflektif. Penelitian ini menjelaskan pengajaran empati sejarah melalui pembelajaran reflektif, terutama mengajar kursus sejarah sosial. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif menggunakan desain studi kasus. Peneliti mengumpulkan data melalui observasi dan dokumentasi yang diambil selama Kursus Sejarah Sosial di tahun akademik 2016/2017. Data yang dikumpulkan kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, pembelajaran reflektif adalah model yang dapat digunakan untuk mengajarkan empati sejarah. Peran seorang dosen diperlukan untuk meningkatkan empati sejarah, terutama dalam membantu siswa untuk membuat hubungan afektif dengan masa lalu. Kata kunci: empati, sejarah sosial, pembelajaran reflektif

Abstract

This article aims to provide some reflections regarding instructional praxis in the amidst of global pandemic and insights of digital history as an alternative solution that can be used for local history learning in this unprecedented situation. In doing so, research problems were formulated, data (especially from peer-reviewed articles) were gathered, corroborated, presented and discussed accordingly. This study finds that Covid-19 has changed the educational landscape worldwide, including Indonesia. Given the unfortunate condition of the pandemic, many educational institutions shifted their teaching and learning into online. It provides various challenges as well as opportunities to use various new digital media in education, including digital history. Emerged in the late 20th century, digital history provides opportunities for history teachers or educators to use it as sources of history learning, especially on local history. Using various primary sources available online, teachers could design new instructional materials or project-based learning on local history.

Abstract

This study aims to unpack the complex representation of ideology and discourses of colonialism, race, and gender. Using social semiotic as a framework, this research investigates the meaning behind the text and images in an official history textbook published by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC). The images were counted and categorized before they were analyzed using multimodal discourse analysis. In term of visual design and the layout of the pages in the textbook, there is ample evidence that events and figures were depicted differently. This study also indicates a tendency of male domination in a history textbook, particularly the indigenous males. Meanwhile, the indigenous females were given a stage in the history textbook even though it is limited.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the tendency of students with learning disabilities in choosing the field of their vocational education. This study also highlights the perceptions of parents and teachers towards the vocational field chosen by the students. A survey method is used in this study which involves 351 students with learning disabilities, 336 parents, and 248 teachers in the State of Selangor, Malaysia. The findings of the study indicate that there are several constructs namely, realistic, investigative, artistic, social, entrepreneurial, and conventional which determine students with learning disabilities choosing the field of vocational education. Meanwhile, several factors that influence parents' perceptions of their child's choice of vocational education field have been discussed in this study. This study illuminates the phenomena and tendency of difficulties faced by students with learning disabilities in choosing their field of vocational education. In this regards, parents and teachers have an important role in providing support to students with special needs in their learning and vocational choices.
