Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the improvement of students' creative thinking skills by implementing STEMC-based project-based learning. This study consisted of 52 students of class X science at SMAN 3 Langsa. Creative thinking ability was assessed through pretest-posttest which was tested using statistically paired sample t-test and N-gain test. The results of the study stated that the application of the STEMC-based PjBL model on electrolyte and nonelectrolyte materials had increased creative thinking skills at a significant level of 0.000, indicating a sig value <0.05 and the results of the N-gain calculation were 0.8 in the high category. The results of the analysis showed that there were differences in the improvement of creative thinking skills before and after the application of the STEMC-based PjBL model. The results of the N-gain of each indicator of creative thinking ability, namely 0.47 elaboration are classified in the medium category, while flexibility, fluency and originality with N-gain results of 0.97, 0.87, and 0.8 are classified in the high category

Abstract

Learning innovation in the laboratory has experienced very rapid development in the current era of technological development. One of these innovations is through the use of virtual laboratory classes in science learning, as is the case with temperature and heat materials. The aims of this research are to develop a virtual lab based on the STEM approach on the concepts of temperature and heat, to test the validity and practicality of virtual lab products based on the STEM approach. The development method used is 4-D (four-D). The data obtained in the form of quantitative and qualitative data. Qualitative data in the form of suggestions, input, feedback and criticism from the validator and quantitative data in the form of a validation questionnaire. The validation results show that the validation is 87.89% (very feasible). In addition, the practical test of student responses was obtained at 96, 15 (very practical) and the teacher at 3.31 (very practical). Practically speaking, the virtual lab based on the STEM approach that was developed is very useful to support practical activities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the increase in scientific literacy skills of students who were taught with a science process skills approach with those taught using a direct learning model in physics learning. This study uses a quantitative approach to the Non-Equivalent Control Group Design experiment. The population used in this study were students of class XI MIA with a sample of 60 people taken by random sampling. The instrument used in this study was a test question in the form of an essay. The data of this study were analyzed using the average test, N-gain and independent sample t-test. The results showed that the average value of scientific literacy in the experimental class was in the high category and the control class in the medium category. In addition, based on the independent sample t-test, it was found that there was a significant difference in the increase in students' scientific literacy skills. So, it can be concluded that there is a difference in the improvement of students' scientific literacy skills in learning Physics taught with a science process skills approach with those taught using a direct learning model.

Abstract

Science process skills have the potential to build students' basic competencies. There are many factors that influence this skill, one of which is the proper use of media. The development of excel-based practicum media is one of the solutions to solve this problem. The aim of the research is to improve students' science process skills in doing practicum. This study has a Research and Development (R&D) design with a population of 132 people with a sample of 66 people using a purposive sampling technique. includes media feasibility 0.72 or high, visual communication 0.35 or moderate, and material 0.45 or moderate. The reliability test obtained 0.000, which means that the similarity between the ratings given by the two validators is very low. In conclusion, the developed media meets the requirements to be used as a research instrument.
