Abstract

Buah manggis dengan nama latin Garcinia mangostana L. mendapat julukan Queen of tropical fruit (Ratunya Buah-buahan Tropik). Kulit buah manggis berwarna ungu kehitaman. Diduga kulit buah manggis mengandung senyawa antosianin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak kulit buah manggis dan kandungan antosianin total dalam kulit buah manggis. Obyek penelitian adalah kulit buah manggis yang sudah layak untuk dikonsumsi. Kulit buah manggis dihaluskan kemudian direndam dengan pelarut metanol yang mengandung HCl 1%. Dilakukan uji aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH dan penentuan kandungan antosianin total dalam kulit buah manggis menggunakan metode perbedaan pH. Uji aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak kulit buah manggis meliputi uji aktivitas antioksidan secara kualitatif berupa lempeng KLT ekstrak kulit buah manggis disemprotkan penampak bercak DPPH 0,1 mM menghasilkan bercak kuning pucat dengan latar belakang ungu. Uji aktivitas antioksidan secara kuantitatif berdasarkan parameter EC50 menggunakan metode DPPH dengan pembanding vitamin C. Diperoleh nilai EC50 sebesar 8,5539 μg/mL dan nilai EC50 vitamin C adalah 3,3676 μg/mL. Rata-rata kandungan antosianin total dalam kulit buah manggis adalah 59,3 mg dalam 100 gram kulit buah manggis.

Abstract

ABSTRACTEleiodoxa conferta (Griff.) Buret fruit peel which is a material that is not widely used, hasbeen studied for antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans. Extraction was carriedout using solvents with stratified polarity, n-hexane, dichloromethane and methanol. Antibacterialactivity test showed that the methanol extract of Eleiodoxa conferta fruit peel can provideinhibition of bacterial growth greater than n-hexane and dichloromethane extracts.Methanol extract was fractionated using liquid vacuum chromatography (KVC) to obtainedactive fractions containing phenolic compounds. The content of phenolic compounds in theactive fractions of methanolic extract of Eleiodoxa conferta fruit peel produce zone of growthinhibition of Streptococcus mutans bacteria by TLC-contact bioautography test.Keywords: Eleiodoxa conferta, fruit peel, phenolic compounds, antibacterial, StreptococcusmutansABSTRAKKulit buah asam paya (Eleiodoxa conferta (Griff.) Ekstrak metanol difraksinasi dengan menggunakankromatografi vakum cair (KVC) untuk mendapatkan fraksi aktif yang mengandung senyawafenolik. Abstract

ABSTRACT Fig leaves (Ficus carica L.) are known to the public with many health benefits. The content of efficacious compounds in fig leaves such as terpenoids has potential as an antibacterial and needs to be known. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of terpenoid content in extracts and fractions of fig leaves (Ficus carica L.) on the growth of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteria by contact bioautography. Extraction was carried out by stratified soxhletation with n-hexane and ethyl acetate. Separation was carried out by coloum vacuum liquid chromatography (VLC) method. The wells diffusion method is used as the antibacterial activity test, while the TLC contact bioautography test is carried out to determine the antibacterial activity of the terpenoid content in the extracts and fractions. Extracts of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol of fig leaf (Ficus carica L.) have antibacterial activity against MRSA with a diameter of inhibitory zone 0.111 ± 0.003; 0.328 ± 0.026, 1.044 ± 0.115 cm, and show significant differences. Extracts of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol of fig leaf (Ficus carica L.) contain terpenoids. The fraction of ethyl acetate and ethanol extracts of fig leaves (Ficus carica L.) contains terpenoid compounds which can provide antibacterial activity against MRSA by TLC contact bioautography. Keywords:       fig leaves, Ficus carica L., antibacterial, Methicillin-Resistant S. aureus.  ABSTRAK Daun ara (Ficus carica L.) dikenal masyarakat dengan banyak manfaat dalam bidang kesehatan. Kandungan senyawa berkhasiat dalam daun ara seperti terpenoid berpotensi sebagai antibakteri dan perlu diketahui. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri kandungan terpenoid dalam ekstrak maupun fraksi daun ara (Ficus carica L.) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) secara KLT bioautografi kontak. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan cara soxhletasi bertingkat dengan pelarut n-heksana dan etil asetat. Pemisahan dilakukan dengan metode kromatografi kolom vakum cair (KVC). Uji aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan metode difusi sumuran, sedangkan uji bioautografi kontak dilakukan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri kandungan terpenoid dalam ekstrak dan fraksi. Ekstrak n-heksana, etil asetat, dan etanol daun ara (Ficus carica L.) mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri terhadap MRSA dengan diameter zona hambat berturut-turut 0,111±0,003; 0,328±0,026, 1,044±0,115 cm, dan menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan. Ekstrak n-heksana, etil asetat, dan etanol daun ara (Ficus carica L.) mengandung terpenoid. Fraksi dari ekstrak etil asetat dan etanol daun ara (Ficus carica L.) mengandung senyawa terpenoid yang dapat memberikan aktivitas antibakteri terhadap MRSA secara KLT bioautografi kontak. Kata kunci : daun ara, Ficus carica L., antibakteri, Methicillin-Resistant S. aureus

Abstract

Mangosteen fruit with latin name Garcinia mangostana L. got the nickname Queen of tropical fruit (Tropical Fruits queen). Most of the mangosteen fruit is consumed in fresh condition. Mangosteen rind purple black. Mangosteen rind allegedly containing anthocyanin compounds. This study aimed to determine antioxidant activity of bark extracts of the mangosteen fruit and the total anthocyanin content in the rind of the mangosteen fruit. Object of research is that the mangosteen rind has been good to consume. Mangosteen rind mashed and then soaked with methanol containing 1% HCl. Antioxidant activity test mangosteen rind extract includes a qualitative test of antioxidant activity of extracts of TLC plates sprayed mangosteen rind 0.1 mM DPPH reagent produces patches of pale yellow with a purple background. Quantitative test of antioxidant activity based on the parameters EC50 using DPPH method with the comparison of vitamin C. Obtained EC50 value of 8.5539 tg/mL and EC50 values of vitamin C is 3.3676 tg/mL. Average total anthocyanin content in the skin of the mangosteen fruit is 59.3 mg in 100 grams of the mangosteen rind.

Abstract

Rhizome of bangle (Zingiber cassumunar Roxb.) is one of the materials that are traditionally used in the traditional preparation to maintain skin from redness. The content of chemical compound in bangle rhizomes has many benefits, including inhibition of the inflammatory processes. This study aims to determine the topical anti-inflammatory activity of ethanolic extract of bangle rhizomes in mice induced by carrageenan. Thirty five female Swiss mice were used in this study. Animals were divided into 7 group of five: normal group, carrageenan 2% group, carrageenan 2% group plus control of basis (Biocream®), carrageenan 2% group plus 2.5% hydrocortisone cream, and carrageenan 2% group plus cream of ethanolic extract of bangle rhizomes with the concentration of 1%, 2.5% and 5% w/w. Carrageenan 2% was injected subcutaneously in all treatment group except normal group. The skinfold thickness of mice was measured every 1 hour for 6 hours after carrageenan injection. Results of this study shows that there is a significant differences between treatment groups (p <0.05) compared to carrageenan 2% treated group. To conclude, ethanolic extract of bangle rhizomes has topical anti-inflammatory in mice induced by carrageenan.

Abstract

NAPZA (Narkotika, Psikotropika dan Zat Adiktif) merupakan zat yang bila masuk ke dalam tubuh dapatmempengaruhi tubuh terutama susunan syaraf pusat otak, sehingga bila disalahgunakan akan menyebabkangangguan fisik, psikis dan fungsi sosial. Salah satu kelompok masyarakat yang rawan terpapar penyalahgunaannarkoba adalah pada rentang umur 15-35 tahun atau generasi milenial. Menurut Badan Narkotika Nasional(BNN), penyalahgunaan NAPZA dikalangan siswa ditahun 2017 mencapai angka 3,38 juta orang. Usia remajamerupakan usia rentan terhadap penyalahgunaan NAPZA karena sikap emosi dan mental mereka yang masihsangat labil sehingga mudah terpengaruh kedalam perilaku menyimpang. Mereka cenderung memiliki rasa ingintahu yang tinggi terhadap narkotika dan psikotropika yang menjadi salah satu pendorong bagi seseorang untukuntuk melakukan perbuatan menyimpang. Penyuluhan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa tentangbahaya yang ditimbulkan dari penyalahgunaan NAPZA sehingga dapat mencegah penggunaan NAPZA dikalangansiswa. Selain itu, diharapkan para siswa mampu membuat infused water kombinasi lemon, strawberry dan daunmint yang dapat digunakan sebagai antioksidan. Kegiatan penyuluhan dilakukan di SMA IT Harapan Bunda,Semarang. Kuesioner digunakan sebagai alat evaluasi untuk mendapatkan umpan balik tentang pelaksanaan danmanfaat kegiatan. Hasil penilaikan siswa terhadap pelaksanaan penyuluhan secara umum dinilai baik dalam halpengelolaan waktu kegiatan, penyaji, materi yang disampaikan, serta manfaat kegiatan.

Abstract

Leaves of malay apple (Syzygium malaccense L.) and water apple (Syzygium aqueum) are plants that contain phenolic and flavonoid compounds which have antioxidant activity. The aim of this study was to determine the differences in total phenolic content, total flavonoids and antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of malay apple leaves and water apple leaves. The extraction method uses maceration with 96% ethanol solvent in a ratio of 1:15. The ethanol extract of malay apple leaves and water apple was tested for total phenolic content using the Folin-Ciocalteu method, total flavonoids using the colorimetric method and antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. Qualitative identification of quercetin compounds was performed by densitometry tlc. In the phenolic and flavonoid content test, the total sample extract was made with a concentration of 5000 ppm. In the antioxidant activity test of the extract samples, a series of concentrations of 80, 100, 120, 140 and 160 ppm were made. The results showed that the total phenolic content in the ethanol extract of malay apple leaves has an average of 12.5149 mgGAE/g and water apple leaves of 14.3207 mgGAE/g. The total flavonoid content in the ethanol extract of malay apple leaves has an average of 9.1613 mgQE/g and water apple leaves of 16.5893 mgQE/g. The ethanol extract of malay apple leaves has antioxidant activity with an average IC50 of 138.3315 ppm and water apple leaves of 117.6745 ppm. In qualitative identification densitometry the Rf value of quercetin is 0,68; ethanol extract of malay apple leaves is 0,68 and water apple leaves is 0,85. The results of the independent statistical T test showed that there were differences in the total phenolic content, total flavonoids and antioxidant activity in the ethanol extract of malay apple leaves and water apple leaves.
