Abstract

The Pekanbaru city forest is one of the open green space alternatives in solvingenvironmental problems in urban areas, especially Pekanbaru. The existence of the forest city is stated in the Government Regulation No. 63 of 2002. The role of the civil society is needed in the policy implementation for the Pekanbaru city forest development. This research aimed to know the problems occurred through a society approach in the management of city forest and know the society role in the implementation of the policy of the Government Regulation No. 63 of 2002 of City Forest. This research was carried out in Jalan Thamrin the city forest of Pekanbaru Riau Province. The research used survey method with quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques. Quantitative analysis used the percentage formula for the assessment of the role of society against the tendency of the management of city forest. Qualitative analysis explained the implementation of the society role in the city forest management in the Government Regulation No. 63 of 2002 about city Forest.  The research results indicated three problems in Pekanbaru city forest are the public ignorance about the Government Regulation No. 63 of Forest City policy, the lack of infrastructure support and the limited maintenance fund of the city forest. The problems hamper the implementation of the Government Regulation No. 63 of 2002 about city forest which indicated the absence of the role of society in the Pekanbaru city forest development . Abstract

The collaboration of forest management between Segati community andcompany, accomplished inaVillage Conservation Institution.LKDSegatiisaninstitutionmanages  bythe community. LKD Segati has the visionandmission ofmanaging nature to increasepublic revenues,economic development alternativesandcreate new jobs, andundertakesustainablemanagement ofprotected areas.This study aimstoidentifythe potentialand theproblems faced byLKDSegati, andformulatealternativedevelopmentstrategyLKDSegati. SWOTanalysisis usedtoformulatethe company strategyfactorswithSWOTmatrix.Thismatrixillustrates clearlyhow theexternalopportunities andthreatsfaced byLKDSegatican be customizedwithitsstrengthsandweaknesses. Abstract

Since 2008, tourism department Kuantan Singingi district has let to the local community to manage the Guruh Gemurai waterfall in Desa Kasang Kecamatan Kuantan Mudik Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi. As long as, the local community in managing of the Guruh Gemurai waterfall is not run well. Because of that, the purpose of this research is to find out participation level among people in the community in manage Guruh Gemurai waterfall and to find out the relationship between the condition of economic, social, and culture of the people and participation level. The method of this reseach is Random Sampling. To know the level of participation is used Likert Scale and to know the correlation between participation with social economic and culture is used Chi Square analysis. The result of this study showed the level of community participation in handling Guruh Gemurai waterfall is middle level it is 67,5 %. This case couse, local community just handling in planning and running out. there was a conflict between the local community with tourism department, the characteristic of local community is farmer. Economic, social, and culture factor which have effect to participation level are action in group work tourism, side job and side income in the waterfall area. Social economic factor which don't have effect are education level, duration of recidence around location, number of family member, distance between home and tourism area, knowledge about history of the waterfall, participation in county management, potency of art and culture, main job and main income. Abstract

Trionychia (Amyda cartilaginea) was a species that categorized in Appendix II of CITES and vulnerable or risky in IUCN Red List Data Book. Captivity was one way to support the conservation efforts of these animals and it germplasm.Captivity done to maintain endangered animals like Trionychia.This research aims to measure level of consumption and preference feed of juveniles Trionychia on some type of feed given on captivityof PT. Arara Abadi, Siak. Method of collecting data used was observation,whichconducted through direct observation of objects to be researched.Feed which tested in feed preference were cork fish saplings, shrimp saplings, cassava and kale that was given to 15 juvenilesfeed trial and measured the consumption level of feed and growth. The resultofthis research indicatelevel ofthe highestshrimpsaplings consumptionduring the research were 56,424g. First preference feedofshrimp saplings were 0,37g, cassava 0,34gandcork fish saplings 0,27g.Growth of juvenil trial for fiveweeks was 0,1 g/tail/day. Keywords: Amydacartilaginea, captivity, feed

Abstract

Paraserianthes falcataria are fast growing trees in the tropical and has many benefits economically. In order to avoid seeds of Paraserianthes falcataria not decrease the quality of seeds during storage. Seed treatment is necessary to keep the seeds able to survive until the time of planting by using Piper betle Linn. leaf as an antiseptic and disinfectant. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of submursion seeds in water Piper betle Linn. leaf on the quality of seed germination and to know the optimum time to submursion seeds in water  Piper betle Linn. leaf to maintain the quality of seeds Paraserianthes falcataria. This research was conducted by using completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 4 treatments and 4 replications. Treatment consists of: P10 = Submursion seeds Paraserianthes falcataria use Piper betle Linn. leaf water for 10 minutes; P20 = Submursion seeds Paraserianthes falcataria use Piper betle Linn. leaf water for 20 minutes; P30 = Submursion seeds Paraserianthes falcataria use Piper betle Linn. leaf water for 30 minutes; P40 = Submursion seeds Paraserianthes falcataria use Piper betle Linn. leaf water for 40 minutes. Research has shown that submursion seeds with water Piper betle Linn. leaf is able to improve the quality of seeds Paraserianthes falcataria during storage and the optimal time of submursion seeds for 30 minutes is the best treatment on seed germination percentage (62%), speed seed germinated (3.05 days), and increase seedling height (6.44 cm).   Keywords :  Paraserianthes falcataria, Piper betle Linn., Seed quality.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the socio-economic conditions of people who become the root causes of forest fires and field, obtain information efforts to control forest fires and land that has been done by the public and develop appropriate strategies to empower communities in the implementation of the prevention of forest fires in Rokan Hilir. This research is descriptive. The collection of data on community empowerment strategies in the prevention of forest fires and field with interviews and direct observations. The analysis used in this study is a descriptive analysis using analytical techniques and percentage SWOT analysis. The social conditions that influence the occurrence of forest and field fires in Rokan Hilir is the level of the majority of people who are not in school and worked as a farmer clearing by culture and economic situation of people who lands <2 hectare burning education. Forest fire prevention efforts undertaken by the field is public worked together to set fire using simple tools and semi-mechanical tools. Community empowerment strategies for the prevention of forest fires and land is established good cooperation among agencies, improve people skills, develop types of horticultural crops pineapple, using their areas, the government socialize penalty facilitate the heavy equipment and additional suppression of forest fires and strict enforcement tools.   Keywords: Community development, prevention of forest fires and field

Abstract

Area surround  forest have community’s Betung village, Pangkalan Kuras District Pelalawan regency to have all various of sialang tree. As to various of tree mention between other Shorea sp, Dipterocarpus cofertus Sloot, Artocarpus maingayi, Koompassia excels Taub, Koompassia malaccensis and Gluta aptera. However sialang tree don’t manage in this area surround forest by community. The community more important oil palm of management equal sialang tree of management. This research purpose to know management system of sialang tree with this  forest area and compare contribution and out put can from sialang tree of management and oil palm of management using Purpossive sampling technique. Result showed that sialang tree of management and taking  honey’s bee don’t treatment again. Because many of sialang tree don’t perch so that produced honey’s bee little. Based on analitycal hierarchy process, sialang tree given contribution and out put more good equal with oil palm. Because to out put can from sialang tree maximum if his work long time equal out put can from oil palm maximum if his work long time and out of cost maximum. Abstract

Mangrove forests are important life-supporting ecosistem in coastal areas. According to Macnae (1968), mangrove is defined as a group of vegetation that grow between the highest water level during high tide and the lowest water level during low tide. At Teluk Pambang village, an organization called Kelompok Pengelola Mangrove (KPM) Belukap was formed due to the anxiety of nearby people to further irresponsible demage of mangrove forests. After the co-fish project, a group was created to manage and project mangrove forests for fishery activities. This research aims to study the contribution of mangrove forest conservation to the income of KPM Belukap at Teluk Pambang village, Kecamatan Bantan, Kabupaten Bengkalis, Riau Province. Contribution of mangrove forest conservation and income data were collected, tabulated, analyzed. Income data were collected descriptively using survey papers. Analysis result show that the conservation of mangrove forests increase the income of KPM Belukap by 1,20% to 3,75%.   Keywords: Contributions, Mangrove Forest, Income, Conservation

Abstract

Road is a visual axis that is straight, strong, and directing our view like a straight line. In 2014 the volume of vehicles on the jalanJenderal Sudirman in Pekanbaru is 163.296 units per day. The arterial road (urban) shows that the indications of the noise level is quite high. Greening the city is one of the ways in reducing noise. This research  aimed to compare the types and the structures of plants in the median of jalanJenderalSudirman as the noise reducer. This research was conducted by dividing jalan JenderalS udirman in Pekanbaru city into seven zones of observation. Each zone made measuring 20 X 20 m that were determined randomly. The choice of the plants in each indentified zone should represent the existing plants structure along the observation zone. The phase of identifying the structure of the plant in include the measurement of the tree diameter, the tree heigt, the tree canopy, the tree damage and the noise level. Woody plants and ground plants, which have the lowest noise structure, have the lowest noise intensity compared with woody plants and ground plants which have the single structure.
