Abstract

This research aims to (1) describes some processes of euphemism formation and (2)  explains some factors behind those formations. It uses descriptive qualitative method with observing and note taking as techniques for data collecting. There are five findings in this research: (1) euphemism formation occurs by two processes, namely (a) by using english vocabularies and (b) by replacing the existing term with another one from Indonesia vocabularie; (2) there are influences from diglosic condition in Indonesia to euphemism formation by using english vocabularies; (3) one of euphemism formation have been done to hide the real essence of job by using some specific diction on the job term; (4) the component of meaning from diction elected with positive connotation become basis for replacement of the term; (5) the job location be a another  influence of euphemism formation.Keyword: euphemism, occasion, language, linguistic etiquette

Abstract

Several errors in spelling and grammar were found in the students' writing on Indonesian language courses. The errors affect the quality of students' academic works. Based on the findings, this study was aimed at (1) describing the forms of misapplication of Indonesian rules and writing in the students’ writing, and (2) defining the aspects behind the application of Indonesian rules and writing in the students’ writing. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. This research was carried out in data collection, data classification, data analysis, and informal data analysis presentation. There are two results in this study. First, language errors were found at three levels, namely errors in aspects of letter writing, elements of paper and use of words, and writing sentences. Second, there are some factors behind this error, both internally and externally.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to describe form, process of formation, and function of slang with affixes ter- usage in twitter. The method used is padan with simak and catat techniques. The results obtained are (1) slang found on two kind of form: single word and reduplication; (2) slang found on some processes: attachment affixes to basic word, foreign language vocabularies, local language, acronyms, and slang; (3) the slang usage function are for language game, express speaker’s feeling, and euphemisms.
