Abstract

Turmeric is an herbal plant that has antibacterial and antioxidant abilities, and also to improve the fish's immune system. The aim of this research was to look at the histological structure of kidney and survival rate fish which was given feed with turmeric flour before and after infected with A. hydrophila. This research was conducted from February to May 2019 in the Laboratory of Parasites and Fish Diseases of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Riau. The method in this research was the experimental method by one-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five levels. Kn (feeding without given turmeric flour and without infection with A. hydrophila), Kp (Feeding without given turmeric flour and infected with A. hydrophila), P1 (turmeric flour at a dose of 0.5 g / kg of feed), P2 (dose of 0.7 g / kg), P3 (dose of 0.9 g / kg). The results showed that the histological structure of catfish which was given the addition of turmeric flour in feed by normal conditions and after being challenged with A. hydrophila showed some damage to the gill and kidney structure. The best dose of adding turmeric flour to feed is 0.7 g / kg of feed (P2), seen from the structure of the kidney cell, and the best survival. Histological structure of kidney cell structure in P2 treatment has abnormality such as hemorrhage and survival rate 100%.

Abstract

One of the plants that have the potential as antibacterial ingredients is Rhizophora apiculata leaf because it contains secondary metabolites, such as tannins, saponins, flavonoids, steroids, and terpenoids. This study aims to find out the inhibition of hot water extract of R. apiculata leaves in inhibiting the growth of Edwardsiella tarda. The research method used is an experimental method which includes sample preparation, extraction, antibacterial activity test using the Kirby-Bauer disc method and applying a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The doses used were 100% (10000 ppm), 90% (9000 ppm), 80% (8000 ppm), 70% (7000 ppm), 60% (6000 ppm), 50% (5000 ppm), 40% (4000 ppm), 30% (3000 ppm), 20% (2000 ppm), 10% (1000 ppm) and control (Oxytetracycline). The results showed that the hot water extract of R. apiculata leaves at a dose of 1000-10000 ppm gave various inhibitory diameters ranging from 6.25-10.08 mm and the clear zone formed was classified as medium

Abstract

This research was conducted from February to May 2019. The purpose of this study was to determine the network structure of striped catfish fed with turmeric flour before and after being tested with Aeromonas hydrophila. Sampling of histopathological preparations was carried out 2 times, namely at the beginning of maintenance, 30 days of maintenance and 14 days after the challenge test. The observed organ was the liver. The results of histological observations of catfish liver for 30 days of maintenance and fed with turmeric flour were still good. The structure of liver tissue after being challenged in treatment P1, P2 and P3 suffered damage such as hypertrophy, vacuole degeneration and necrosis. The best dose of adding turmeric flour to feed is 0.7 g / kg (P2) with the least damage.Key words: Striped fish, histopathology, liver, necrosis, turmeric flour

Abstract

This socialization to the community will be carried out in September 2022 in Gampong Cot, Samatiga District, West Aceh Regency. Boba making practice aims to train people in making boba drinks using Caulerpa spp. efforts to improve the regional economy. Implementation of socialization using theory and training with the lecture method. The results of the service can be practiced well, smoothly, structured and successfully involve the Gampong Cot community, the implementation process consists of 4 stages. At the stage of training and mentoring in making ice boba Caulerpa spp. consists of two sessions, namely a theory session and a training session. The theory session contains the presentation of Caulerpa spp. in general and its contents, while the training session contained 1) selection of mature Caulerpa spp to be harvested or collected from the site, 2) milling of Caulerpa spp. become smooth using a blender, 3) mixing Caulerpa spp. with other ingredients, 4) print boba using a printing machine, 5) boil boba, and 6) make boba ice as desired.

Abstract

Mangrove forest play important role in coastal ecosystem. In other hand, mangrove have economical benefit as source of functional food. The aimed of this empowerment programme is to give knowledge and skill to coastal community of Lhok Bubon Aceh regarding Pedada fruit jam (Sonneratia alba). The method of empowerment includes did socialization, prepare raw material, and did training to coastal community of Lhok Bubon West Aceh. Based on the result shown that the coastal communities are consist of the women of Lhok Bubon coastal have spirit for learning and enthusiasm to follow the empowerment community programme. The expected in future, the coastal communities can be applied the technique of pedada fruit jam of S. alba in order to give them value added.

Abstract

Chaetomorpha sp. is a green algae that has anti-bacterial compounds and at certain times found very much. The purpose of this study was to see the inhibition zone produced from the ethanol extract of Chaetomorpha sp. against A. hydrophilla and Vibrio sp. This research was done in March 2022. Extraction of Chaetomorpha sp., antibacterial effectiveness testing was done at the Biotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Riau University. The method used is descriptive method. Sensitivity test was performed using the Kirby Bauer disc method. To reduce the error rate, it was repeated three times. The doses of macroalgae extract used were, doses of 100% (10,000 ppm), 90% (9,000 ppm), 80% (8,000 ppm), 70% (7000 ppm), 60% (6000 ppm), 50% (5000 ppm), 40 % (4000 ppm), 30% (3000 ppm), 20% (2000 ppm), 10% (1000 ppm) and control (Oxytetracycline). Based on the observations, it was found that the use of ethanol extract of Chaetomorpha sp. The result is able to inhibit the growth of bacteria A. hydrophilla and Vibrio sp. at the highest dose (10000 ppm) in an range of 13.5 -14.5 mm which was classified as strong category, the lowest dose was at 5000 ppm as moderate category.

Abstract

Kunyit merupakan salah satu tanaman herbal yang memiliki sifat antibakteri dan antioksidan, serta mampu meningkatkan sistem imun ikan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat struktur jaringan yang diberi pakan mengandung tepung kunyit sebelum dan setelah diuji tantang bakteri A. hydrophila. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari sampai Mei 2019 di Laboratorium Parasit dan Penyakit Ikan Fakultas Perikanan dan Kelautan Universitas Riau. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan menerapkan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) satu faktor dengan lima taraf, yaitu Kn (pemberian pakan tanpa diberi tepung kunyit dan tanpa diinfeksi bakteri A. hydrophila), Kp (Pemberian pakan tanpa diberi tepung kunyit dan diinfeksi bakteri A. hydrophila), P1 (tepung kunyit dengan dosis 0,5 g/kg pakan), P2 (dosis 0,7 g/kg pakan),P3 (dosis 0,9 g/kg pakan). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa struktur jaringan insang ikan jambal siam yang diberi penambahan tepung kunyit dalam pakan dalam keadaan normal dan setelah diuji tantang dengan bakteri A. hydrophila mengalami beberapa kerusakan. Dosis terbaik penambahan tepung kunyit pada pakan adalah 0,7 g/kg pakan (P2) hanya mengalami kerusakan berupa hyperplasia dan deformasi lamella dengan kategori normal dan skor HAI 1,33.

Abstract

The mangrove species Sonneratia alba is one of the plants that has good bioactive compounds and very easy to find. However, the content of bioactive compounds and nutrients from a plant is strongly influenced by internal and external factors. The study was conducted with the aim to know the proximate content, yield and antioxidant activity of S. alba fruit from Lhok Bubon Village, Samatoga District, West Aceh Regency. The extraction method used methanol, ethyl acetate and n-hexane as solvent with antioxidant test using DPPH solution (2,2-Diphenil-2-picryl hydrazil). The results of the study showed the proximate content consisted of water 30.71%, ash 5.06%, fat 8.59%, protein 3.48% and carbohydrate 52.16%. Meanwhile, the yield showed ethyl acetate solvent had the highest yield (69.11 ± 13.27%), then followed by n-hexane (68.38 ± 13.21%) and methanol (64.44 ± 14.78%). Furthermore, for the antioxidant activity of S. alba fruit from Lhok Bubon Village, Samatoga District, West Aceh Regency, overall it was classified as very strong IC50 < 50 ppm).   Spesies mangrove Sonneratia alba merupakan salah satu tanaman yang memiliki senyawa bioaktif yang baik dan sangat mudah ditemukan. Namun kandungan senyawa bioaktif dan nutrisi dari suatu tanaman sangat dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal dan eksternalnya. Penelitian dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan proksimat, rendemen dan aktivitas antioksidan buah S. alba dari Desa Lhok Bubon Kecamatan Samatoga Kabupaten Aceh Barat. Metode ekstraksinya menggunakan pelarut methanol, etil asetat dan n-heksana dengan uji antioksidannya menggunakan larutan DPPH (2,2-Diphenil-2-picryl hydrazil). Hasil penelitian mendapatkan bahwa kandungan proksimatnya terdiri dari kadar air 30.71%, kadar abu 5.06%, kadar lemak 8.59%, kadar protein 3.48% dan kadar karbohidrat 52.16%. Sementara untuk rendemen menunjukkan bahwa pelarut etil asetat memiliki rendemen tertingginya (69.11 ± 13.27%), kemudian diikuti oleh n-heksana (68.38 ± 13.21%) dan methanol (64.44 ± 14.78%). Selanjutnya untuk aktivitas antioksidan buah S. alba dari Desa Lhok Bubon Kecamatan Samatoga Kabupaten Aceh Barat secara keseluruhannya tergolong sangat kuat (IC50 < 50 ppm).

Abstract

Mangrove merupakan tanaman yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pencegah abrasi dan pemecah gelombang. Aksi penanaman mangrove dilakukan oleh mahasiswa dan dosen sebagai bentuk pengabdian terhadap masyarakat dengan tujuan sebagai bentuk upaya mitigasi abrasi. Pengabdian ini dilakukan pada Bulan November 2022 di Desa Peunaga, Aceh Barat. Penanaman mangrove ini menggunakan 100 bibit, dengan menggunakan jarak masing-masing bibit berjarak 4 x 2 m. Secara umum kegiatan ini dimulai dengan 1) pemaparan singkat mengenai kegiatan yang akan dilakukan, 2) memilih bibit yang layak untuk digunakan, 3) membentang jarak untuk bibit mangrove ditanam, 4) Pelepasan polybag bibit, 5) pembuatan lubang, 6) Penanaman bibit. Harapan kedepan, penanaman mangrove ini bisa menjadi cikal bakal mitigasi abrasi yang terjadi di Desa Peunaga.

Abstract

Research on the types of sharks traded at the Southwest Aceh fish landing site was conducted in September 2022. The purpose of this study is to analyze the morphology and genetic analysis of sharks. Sampling uses purposive sampling techniques, for morphological analysis refers to shark identification books, while genetic analysis uses the Sanger method used at the sequencing stage. Morphological data analysis using Image-j software, for genetic analysis, using Mega 6 (Molecular Evolutionary Genetic Analysis). Morphological analysis was carried out at the Laboratory of Biosystematics and Marine Genetics, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Teuku Umar University. Genetic analysis was carried out at the Denpasar Biodiversity Laboratory, Bali. The results of this study found two species of sharks with a total of 8 individuals from the genus Carcharinus
