Abstract

Tanaman seledri (Apium graveolens L.) mengandung berbagai senyawa metabolit sekunder antara lain flavonoid, polifenol, dan kuinon. Tanaman seledri selain untuk bumbu masakan dan sayuran, telah lama digunakan sebagai obat tradisonal untuk penurun tekanan darah tinggi (hipertensi), diuretik, dan hematuria. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap khasiat lain dari tanaman seledri sebagai antikalkuli atau peluruh batu ginjal. Pengujian efek antikalkuli (bagian dari uji preklinis) dilakukan secara in vitro yaitu dengan menguji tingkat kelarutan komponen batu ginjal (kalsium oksalat atau magnesium ammonium fosfat) sebagai solut (100 mg serbuk batu) dalam berbagai variasi konsentrasi sediaan cair seledri sebagai solven dibandingkan dengan solven air (volumen= 10 mL, suhu= 37 oC, waktu= 4 dan 24 jam). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa cairan infusa seledri pada konsentrasi 1,3; 3,3; dan 5,0% dapat melarutkan komponen kalsium dan magnesium batu ginjal dengan tingkat kelarutan yang secara signifikan lebih besar dibandingkan kelarutan dalam air sebagai kontrol negatif (konsentrasi 5%, Ca: 4,657 vs 199 ppm, Mg: 9,912 vs 9,37 ppm). Sementara fraksi air dari ekstrak metanol seledri juga menunjukkan daya larut yang signifikan terhadap baik kalsium maupun magnesium komponen batu ginjal pada konsentrasi pada 0,5% dibandingkan air (Ca: 3,7 vs 1,5 ppm dan Mg: 25,9 vs 14,5 ppm). Hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa herba seledri memiliki potensi sebagai peluruh batu ginjal dengan mekanisme melarutkan kristal komponen batu ginjal. Abstract

Vitamin E (Tocopherol acetate) is used in both oral and topical dosage.  The aim of  the research was to study  different concentration of Carrageenan, as gelling agent in Tocopherol acetate Emulgels.  This experimental study was initiated by emulgel formulation using different concentration of carrageenan as gelling agent, as much as 0,5% (F1), 0,75% (F2), 0,85% (F3), 0,95 % (F4), 1% (F5), 1,125% (F6), 1,25% (F7), 1,5% (F8) and 2% (F9).  Tween 20 and Span 20 were used as emulsifiers (1 and 1,5 %),  Liquid paraffin as oily phase (7,5%), Propylen glycol as humectant (10%), propyl and methyl paraben as antimicrobial preservative (0,01% and 0,03%). The physical investigation of emulgel were included pH, spreading test, viscosity and freeze thawtest. The results for promising formula F5 showed that physical parameters of emulgels were in the range of requirement for topical dosage form. Keywords: Tocopherol acetate (Vitamin E), emulgels, carrageenan

Abstract

 Tetes mata sulfasetamidayang mengandung natrium sulfasetamida 10%, 15%, dan 30% telah dibuat dan disterilkan. Metode sterilisasi yang digunakan adalah uap air mengalir 98-100 oC, penyaring bakteri, dan autoklaf 120-121 oC selama 15 menit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendapatkan sediaan yang paling stabil selama penyimpanan 28 hari. Semua sediaan diamati kejernihan, pH dan konsentrasi natrium sulfasetamida.Semua sediaan mengalami kenaikan pH. Kekeruhan terjadi pada sediaan yang disterilkan dengan autoklaf. Sediaan paling stabil adalah tetes mata yang mengandung natrium sulfasetamid 10% yang disterilisasi dengan penyaring bakteri.

Abstract

Bawang Tiwai (Eleutherine americana (L.) Merr bulbus. is a typical plant from Kutai tribes which commonly used as an anti-bacterial and food coloring. The stability test is performed to determine the stability of the extract. Stability test was conducted in two solvents are distilled water and ethanol include the effects of temperature (25°C, 50°C, 80°C), pH (3, 5, 7), an oxidant for 6 hours, conditions of storage at room temperature and the temperature of the refrigerator for 24 hours and storage for 2 weeks. The absorbance of extract in ethanol and aquadest was decreasing due to the change of temperature, time, the presence of oxidator but due to pH changes, the absorbance of extract was increasing. Meanwhile, on the storage condition, showed the highest absorbance on dark, and room temperature storage compared to other condition.Key words: Eleutherine americana (L.) Abstract

Microcrystalline cellulose is the most used material for medicine, which able to be found in fibrous plants. Microcrystal celluloses are being used as filler or binder in dosage formulas in tablets and capsules. This research aimed to produce microcrystalline cellulose from ramie based on pharmaceutical grade parameters. Research method include hemp fiber preparation, α-cellulose isolation, microcrystalline cellulose production, and microcrystalline cellulose characterization which compare with Avicel® PH 102 . Result shown microcrystalline cellulose yield is 57.26%. The result of physicochemical characterization that can comply the specifications of pharmaceutical grade as a pharmaceutical excipient.  Keywods :  Microcrystalline cellulose, Ramie, physicochemical, pharmaceutical grade.

Abstract

Chondroitin sulphate (CS) in oral dosage form has widely used to help manage osteoarthritis, but regret its bioavailability was very low at only 13%, It was due to the first passed effect in the liver and to avoid it CS is needed to be formulated into another forms of preparation like patch. This study was aimed to gure out in-vitro possibility of chondroitin sulphate (CS) to be formulated in a transdermal patch and characterized by its physical properties such as permeation profile through the Franz’s cell and partition coefficient studies. The study showed that 150 mg CS in transdermal patch given the constant permeation within 19 hours with the partition coefficient of 2.22. Based on the permeation profile and the partition coefficient study, the CS patch would become an effective preparation to be considered.Keyword : Chondroitin Sulphate (CS), Transdermal patch, Permeation profile, Partition coefficient

Abstract

The aim of this research was to isolation of mucilage from gedi leaf (Abelmoschus manihot L. Medik) and characterized physicochemical properties. The isolation result was yellowish brown powder that swelling and dissolves slowly in water, but does not dissolve in ethanol, methanol, acetone and ether. The yield is 1.33%. Swelling index value 100% and viscosity 28 ± 2.65 mpas, pH 7.1. Proximate analysis showed 10.46% water content, 38.80% ash, 14.66% protein, 0.69% fat, 35.38% carbohydrate Water holding capacity (WHC) and  oil holding capacity (OHC) of musilago are respectively 4.23 ± 0.18 and 0.65 ± 0.14. Viscosity, Swelling index, WHC and OHC mucilage gedi leaf  may be considered as pharmaceutical excipients.Keywords: Mucilage, Abelmoschus manihot, swelling, viscosity

Abstract

Formulation anti-inflammatory gel  from sukun leaves extract (Artocarpus altilis (Parkins.) Fosberg) by various sukun leaves extract concentrate 4%, 8%, 12%, and 16% has been carried out. The purpose is  to find a stable formula of extract, efective and safe as gel anti-inflammatory. The evaluation included  stability,  organoleptic, pH , viscosity, consistency, safety test after 56 days storage, and anti-inflammatory activity has been investigated on male white rats of Wistar strain. The activity test using the carrageenan inducement method of the right paw of the rats and the  materials test were given topically. The result showed after  physical and chemical stability observation  , no changes occurred. In  safety test, every forms has been guaranteedly safety since no skin irritation occur. Effectivity test showed that every formula can produces anti-inflammatory activity. The best formula  was given anti-inflamatory, is gel with concentrate sukun leaves extract (Artocarpus altilis (Parkins.) Fosberg)of  16%, inflammation inhibition of 6.96%. ABSTRAK Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai formulasi gel antiinflamasi dari ekstrak daun sukun (Artocarpus altilis (Parkins.) Fosberg) dengan menggunakan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak 4%, 8%, 12%, dan 16%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui formula gel yang stabil, efektif dan aman dalam penggunaannya  sebagai  sediaan gel antiinflamasi. Pengujian meliputi uji stabilitas, yaitu pemeriksaan secara organoleptis, perubahan pH, viskositas, konsistensi, uji keamanan selama 56 hari penyimpanan, dan uji aktivitas antiinflamasi terhadap tikus putih jantan galur Wistar. Pengujian aktivitas antiinflamasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode penginduksian karagenan pada telapak kaki kanan tikus dan bahan uji diberikan secara topikal. Hasil pengamatan stabilitas fisik dan kimia sediaan meliputi konsistensi, warna, dan bau menunjukkan bahwa selama 56 hari penyimpanan tidak terjadi perubahan. Sedangkan untuk nilai viskositas dan pH mengalami penurunan. Berdasarkan uji keamanan, setiap formula dinyatakan aman untuk digunakan karena tidak mengiritasi kulit. Hasil pengujian efektivitas menunjukkan bahwa semua formula dapat memberikan aktivitas antiinflamasi.  Formula yang memberikan aktivitas antiinflamasi paling baik adalah formula dengan konsentrasi ekstrak daun sukun (Artocarpus altilis (Parkins.) Fosberg) 16%,  dengan memberikan efek inhibisi radang 6,96%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the formulation and testing of anti-acne combination gel activity of ethanol extract of leaves of soursop (Annona muricata L.) and leaves of guava (Psidium guajava L ) in in - vitro and in - vivo. Soursop leaf is traditionally used to treat acne . It is known that asetogenin soursop leaves contains compounds acetogenin, tannins, phytosterols, calcium oxalate, murisin alkaloids, ????la- vonoids and steroid. Research on anti- acne activity of guava leaf extract has been carried out by Qa’dan et al in 2005. Samples were obtained from a combination of extracts of leaves of soursop (Annona muricata L.) and leaves of guava (Psidium guajava L ) using the method of maceration with 96 % ethanol. The preparation is formulated in the form of a gel and tested the minimum inhibitory concentration and antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acne using Cindala ® gel for comparison. In-vivo studies conducted using rats (Rattus novergicus) galus Wistar as test animals by administration of Propionibacterium acne bacteria colonies suspense as inducers.The results showed that the combination gel of soursop leaf extract and guava leaf extract has anti bacterial activity against Propionibacterium acne with carbomer gel formulation using as a base. In vivo testing results show that the gel has anti acne activity and statistically signi????icantly different to the negative control.
