Abstract

A researchon the utilization of shrimp shell waste are abundan tin the province of East Kalimantan as the source of chitosan and synthesis of the derivative chelating chitosan-ethylene diamine tetra acetate (EDTA) resin and the retention of characterization for Cu(II) ions has been carried out. Chitin were obtained from Windu Shrimp’s (Penaeus monodon) shell through three ways, are deproteination, demineralitation and depigmentation. The obtained chitin were deacetylated with sodium hydroxide at temperature 150-160˚C during 1 hour to obtained chitosan, with contain was 64.4%. Synthesis chitosan-EDTA resin can be done by coupling reacts between diazonium ion from diazotation chitosan with EDTA at temperature 1-3˚C during 1 hour, the product of 70% yield was obtained. The Chitosan-EDTA resin was synthesized has characterization by using FT-IR spectroscopic and scanning electron microscope, shows the spesific functional groups of the resin.

Abstract

A chemical kinetics study on the saponification reaction of ethyl acetate by comparison of titration and conductometry methods has been conducted. First, though, this study started by reacting ethyl acetate with NaOH with a volume ratio of 2: 3 and was kept at a constant temperature of 35oC. The process of determining the order and rate constant of saponification reaction of ethyl acetate by hydroxide ions was carried out by comparing the analysis results with titration and conductometry methods with time variations of 5, 10, 15, 25, 40, and 60 minutes. The study's results proved that the saponification reaction follows the kinetics of the 2nd order reaction. It is supported by the analysis results using both analysis methods at time variations and obtaining a linear line graph with a positive gradient and an R2 value of 0.9757 and 0.9955, respectively, where both values are close to 1. Based on the titration method, the reaction rate (k) rated ethyl acetate saponification obtained a yield of 3.2375 M-1.min-1, while by the conductometry method, the rated value of the reaction rate obtained was 13.1973 M-1.min-1.

Abstract

Zeolite is a hydrated aluminosilicate mineral (solid) in which silicate ions (SiO44-) and tetrahedral alumina (AlO45-) combine to form a porous/hollow and negatively charged crystal structure. Natural zeolite can be isolated from several sources, such as volcanic ash, sand, rocks, and rice husks, to industrial organic waste. Zeolite catalysts can be synthesized through various methods such as sol-gel, hydrothermal, ionothermal, and alkaline fusion. The purpose of modifying zeolite catalyst material is to improve its catalytic capabilities and physical and chemical properties, which can be done by various methods, including sol-gel, hydrothermal, ionothermal, and alkaline fusion. The use of zeolite-based catalysts and their derivatives has been widely used in various chemical reactions and industries such as isomerization processes, molecular cracking, to the manufacture of biodiesel. The conclusion is that zeolite is a widely developed material because of its abundant quantity in nature, and it is relatively cheaper and can be modified so that it can be used in various chemical reactions.

Abstract

This research informs a descriptive study of caffeic acid derivatives such as ethyl caffeate, fluoro methyl caffeate, chloro methyl caffeate, bromo methyl caffeate, iodo methyl caffeate compounds, using density functional theory in B3LYP method with def2-TZVP basis set. The substitution of various halide atoms in the derivative compounds showed a high increase in chemical reactivity than the methyl group for the main compound by increasing the electron donor ability of the compound in chemical reactions. The molecular structures of some derivative compounds were optimized with geometrical analysis values depicting stable molecular structures with lower HOMO-LUMO energy difference. Quantum chemical parameters such as hardness (η), softness (σ), electronegativity (χ), and electrophilicity (ω) were generated as descriptors for the chemical behavior of the molecules. The FT-IR vibrational frequencies that have been calculated and characterized are in good agreement with the molecular structure. The molecular docking results show that the five ligands are able to interact with amino acid residues similar to the amino acids of the native ligand. The binding energy values for the five native ligands are -6.5, -6.8, -6.6, -6.5, and -6.4 kcal mol-1. Furthermore, binding and interaction values similar to the native ligand, it is expected that the five ligands have potential as anticancer.

Abstract

Water, the primary need of living things, is indispensable for humans. The use of water is a common thing in the community. One of the community environments that needs water is housing. Grand Sanur Griya Tama II Housing Estate, a housing estate in Palangka Raya City, is one of the places that utilize groundwater to meet clean water needs. In this service, counselling is carried out by determining groundwater quality based on physical and chemical parameters. The community service results show that the groundwater quality in the housing is in accordance with quality standards.

Abstract

Penggunaan pestisida kimia dilakukan petani untuk menjaga tanamannya terhindar dari hama penyakit. Namun penggunaan pestisida kimia secara terus-menerus akan mengganggu kesehatan petani yang terlibat kontak langsung dengan pestisida kimia tersebut pada proses penyemprotan, dan juga kesehatan masyarakat yang bertindak sebagai konsumen karena bahan pestisida kimia yang digunakan pada hasil panen tidak akan hilang hanya dengan dibersihkan menggunakan air bersih. Selain penggunaan pestisida kimia juga akan mencemari lingkungan. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, maka dilakukan sosialisasi biopestisida alami dari Babadotan kepada kelompok tani Kelurahan Habaring Hurung, di Kecamatan Bukit Batu, Palangka Raya. Sosialisasi ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan kualitas hidup masyarakat setempat terutama dari sisi kesehatan masyarakat terkhususnya petani. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dengan praktik pembuatan biopestisida alami babadotan, pemberian materi berupa leaflet atau brosur, dan FGD (Focus Group Discussion). Hasil dari pengabdian ini secara umum memberikan bekal pengetahuan bagi petani tentang biopestisida alami yang aman bagi kesehatan dan ramah lingkungan yaitu dengan menggunakan Babadotan yang keberadaannya dianggap sebagai tumbuhan pengganggu bagi masyarakat terkhususnya petani menjadi tumbuhan yang sebaliknya sangat bermanfaat melalui pelatihan yang diberikan. Sehingga melalui pengabdian kepada masyarakat tersebut, dapat membantu petani di Kelurahan Habaring Hurung dalam mengatasi masalah kesehatan yang diakibatkan oleh penggunaan pestisida kimia. Luaran dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah brosur dan biopestisida alami dari Babadotan yang siap digunakan.

Abstract

Clean water is a fundamental requirement for human life. People depend on easy and safe access to clean water to fulfill their daily needs. Palangka Raya is the capital city of Central Kalimantan Province and is also affected by the process of moving the National Capital City (IKN) to Kalimantan. The population growth rate is increasing every year, accompanied by an increasing number of settlements in Palangka Raya. Its area is mostly peatland, so its surface water affects the well water used by many newly established settlements as a source of clean water for its citizens. In this service, the method is sampling residential healthy water, analyzing water samples, and counseling residents. Water analysis shows that healthy water is quite suitable for hygiene and sanitation purposes but not for consumption according to clean water quality standards based on Permenkes No. 32 of 2017. The results of the socialization showed an increase in the level of understanding of residents on healthy water quality. This activity is expected to help the government improve the Casadova residents' health. It is expected to increase the knowledge and awareness of residents about the proper use of well water and maintaining the quality of healthy water.

Abstract

Karsinogenik merupakan zat atau senyawa yang berpotensi mengakibatkan kanker. Zat karsinogen berasal dari berbagai sumber seperti asap kendaraan, rokok, kosmetik, virus, sinar ultraviolet, obat-obatan, makanan dan minuman. Hingga saat ini Asia menjadi benua yang memiliki privalensi penderita kanker yang terbanyak di dunia untuk semua usia, jenis kelamin dan pekerjaan. Sehingga dibutuhkan suatu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk menurunkan privalensi kanker yang ada di Asia, terkhususnya di Indonesia. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan melakukan edukasi zat karsinogen sebagai pemicu dari kanker. Oleh karena itu, melalui program kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat yang disasarkan kepada Siswa/Siswi SMAN 2 Palangka Raya, ini di harapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman dasar mengenai pencegahan risiko terkena kanker. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan ini adalah penyuluhan interaktif, diskusi dan evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test. Berdsarkan hasil evaluasi, sebagian peserta dapat menerima materi yang disampaikan dan secara keseluruhan kegitan ini dapat berlajan dengan baik dan lancer. Pada akhir kegitan para peserta menyarankan agar program kegiatan ini dapat dilaksanakan diseluruh sekolah SMA/MA/SMK dan sederajat yang ada di Kota Palangka Raya.
