This research is a qualitative study which aims to explore information related to strengthening the pedagogical competence of Al-Qur’an Hadith teachers in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at MAN 2 Model Medan. The subjects of this research were Al-Qur’an Hadith teachers, deputy head of the madrasah for curriculum and students. Data collection was carried out by interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis techniques used consist of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this research state that the pedagogical competence of Al-Qur’an Hadith teachers at MAN 2 Model Medan is classified as good but not yet optimal. Al-Qur’an Hadith teachers’ efforts to improve pedagogical competence in implementing the independent curriculum by attending seminars and training, joining teachers’ organizations (MGMP), listening to lectures and reading a lot. The strategy used by the school to improve the pedagogical competence of Al-Qur’an Hadith teachers at MAN 2 Model Medan is by conducting training and technical guidance, holding workshops, collaborating with various parties and conducting supervision.
