Abstract

Mismatches between teacher-created learning tools and 2013 curriculum requirements affect students' level of understanding of learning materials, primarily linear equations and inequalities of one variable. This study aims to create a learning tool based on problem-based learning of linear equation materials and one-variable inequalities that is valid and practical for class VII SMP/MTs. The resulting learning tools are a syllabus, a learning implementation plan (RPP), and a student activity sheet (LAS). This learning tool is a development study using a 4D model that consists of four stages: definition, design, development, and dissemination. The means of this research were verification sheets and student response questionnaires. The data analysis performed is a validity analysis and a utility analysis. The syllabus, lesson, and LAS validation results show very valid criteria with average validation values ​​of 3.64, 3.60, and 3.61, respectively. The results of limited LAS testing showed that LAS met very practical criteria with an average utility value of 3.61. A problem-based learning tool for linear equations and inequalities in one variable class VII SMP / MT meets valid and practical criteria based on validation and limited test results. It can be used in the learning process.

Abstract

This research aimed to reveal the effectiveness of learning with a scientific approach in the STAD type cooperative learning model based on lesson study on mathematics students learning activities. This is a quasi-experimental research where the population was the junior high school students in Rokan Hilir regency which divided into three school levels, namely; high level, middle level and low level. The subject of this research was chosen by applying clustering random sampling method. The second grader of each school was chosen to be the subject of this research by applying purposive sampling. There were experiment and control classes in each subject. The instruments that were used in this research, namely learning media (syllabus, lesson plan and students learning sheet activity) and for the data collection media (question sheet and observation sheet). The design of hypothesis testing of student learning activities in the form of data analysis of student learning activities through statistical tests. Statistical tests used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov data normality test, the Levene variance homogeneity test, the Mann Whitney U difference test, the Independent T-Test, the one-way ANOVA test and continued with the Scheffe test. The result of this research revealed that: students learning activities in the experiment class was better compared to the control class, for every level, there were differences of students learning activities reviewed from school level; and learning with scientific approach in STAD type cooperative learning based o lesson study was effective reviewed from students learning activities. In conclusion, it is proven that learning with a scientific approach in the STAD type cooperative learning model based on lesson study is effective to improve students’ learning activities

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the errors of class X SMA students on linear program material. The method applied is the qualitative description method. Purposive sampling was implemented in this study, and the participants were 30 students from class X MIA SMAN 5 Tapung. The types of errors analyzed are based on Nasution's theory, which states that there are three types of errors: conceptual errors, procedural errors, and computational errors. The test questions are given in the form of 7 description questions. The results of the analysis of student answers along with the analysis of interviews, errors in calculations occur because students are not careful in calculating and entering numbers into the formula. Therefore only 8 students whose scores exceed the standard score of 70. Based on the results of the analysis of student answers, it can be concluded that, students' errors in solving linear program questions are in conceptual errors where students do not understand the implied meaning of the questions; procedural and computational errors where students are not able to carry out the procedures or steps that will be used to solve the problems, do not know the arithmetic operations that will be used to solve the problems and do not write down the final results according to the procedures or steps applied.

Abstract

The inability of students to solve problems will result in errors in solving them. This study aims to describe students' errors in the circle equation material and the factors that cause errors in class XI SMKN 3 Pekanbaru and solve math problems related to circle equation material. This research is descriptive research. The subjects in this study were 36 students of class XI SMKN 3 Pekanbaru. The data collection technique was carried out by means of a learning outcome test which consisted of instruments describing the circle equation. As for the percentage of errors made by students, namely students who made fact errors as much as 29% due to the lack of accuracy of the students in writing the symbols of the circle equation, the students made 23% misconceptions because the students did not understand the questions well so that students are random in determining the formula used to solve the problem, students made a principle error of 16% because the students were careless in determining the formula to solve the questions, students make operating errors as much as 32% because students are not careful in doing algebraic operations and are in a hurry to work on the problem.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of students' mathematical understanding abilities in Indonesia, especially in Riau Province and the limited number of Student Worksheets that facilitate mathematical understanding abilities. Mathematical understanding is important for students because it becomes a prerequisite for further mathematical concepts, and meaningful learning will last longer. In facilitating students' mathematical understanding skills, meaningful learning is needed. One such learning is the Discovery Learning (DL) model. Applying a learning model alone is not enough to support the realization of an active learning process that can develop students' mathematical understanding abilities. Therefore, a teacher must provide facilities to support students, including developing Student Worksheets. Using appropriate digital technology in learning facilitates and attracts students' interest in learning so that learning becomes more effective. One of the sites that can make student worksheets more interactive by adding media in the form of motion animation, audio and video to it is a live worksheet. This study aimed to produce a product in the form of an electronic student worksheet based on the Discovery Learning (DL) model to facilitate mathematical understanding skills in class XI SMA/MA students on valid and practical Limit Function material. This research uses the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Define, Design, Development, and Evaluation). The resulting product is stated to be very valid and practical with an average percentage validity of 90%, and the average value of the questionnaire response results for students by 83%.

Abstract

Sasaran pelatihan dalam kegiatan penulisan artikel ilmiah ini adalah guru-guru SMA/MA dan SMK di Kota Bengkalis. Guru-guru SMA/MA dan SMK di Kota Bengkalis masih kesulitan dalam menulis artikel ilmiah dan mencari jurnal-jurnal yang akan dirujuk sebagai referensi berdasarkan hasil wawancara. Tujuan kegatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk melakukan pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah bagi guru-guru, khususnya guru sekolah menengah atas baik SMA/MA dan SMK di Kota Bengkalis. Metode penerapan dengan 3 (tiga) tahapan yaitu: (1) persiapan, (2) pelaksanaan dan (3) pelaporan. Hail kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa dari lima pernyataan yang diajukan semua peserta memberikan respon sangat puas 85,88 %, dan puas 14,12 %. Selain itu peserta menyarankan beberapa hal antara lain : (1) waktu pelaksanaan pelatihan lebih lama, (2) pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah dilakukan secara berkesinambungan, (3) terbentuknya forum karya ilmiah bagi gur; serta (4) pelibatan akan jumlah guru dari mata pelajaran dan satuan pendidikan lainnya perlu ditambahkan. Dengan demikian maka perlu untuk dilakukan kembali kegiatan pelatihan penulisan artikel ini di tahun depan dengan durasi yang lebih lama.
