Abstract

The academic world is full of scientific surprises because education is changing so rapidly because of its alignment with various sectoral fields. One of the requirements to be called a lecturer is to be involved in three fields: teaching, research, and involvement in community outreach; and has been published in peer-reviewed reputable journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, ISI, and other high-impact databases. The purpose of this research was to analyze Most of the universities experienced difficulties requiring their faculty to be actively involved in research and community outreach, and several factors influenced their willingness to pursue such initiatives. The type of research method used is a qualitative research method, which will identify how to motivate lecturer involvement in research and community service. The results showed that the majority of respondents or 85.7% preferred the reward system to encourage faculty involvement in research and community outreach, while the remaining 24 respondents preferred awards, which could range from other collaborations with research with other universities and colleges in the Philippines. Figure 2 shows that the majority of respondents prefer the formation of open research working groups with a total of 50 respondents, 100%, which means strengthening research collaboration will strengthen faculty motivation to engage in research, development, and counseling.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the misconceptions of class X students on the concept of Temperature and Heat using a two-tier multiple choice diagnostic test at SMA Bersama Berastagi Private. This research is included in the descriptive qualitative research. The population in this study were students of class X MIA. The sample in this study were 68 people. Diagnostic test data were collected using a two-tier multiple choice to identify students' understanding of concepts into conceptual understanding, misconceptions, guessing and not understanding concepts. Based on the research results obtained from a two-tier multiple choice diagnostic test on students of class X MIA1 and X MIA3 SMA Bersama Berastagi Private High School, misconceptions were identified in each sub-concept of the concepts of Temperature and Heat. The sequence of sub-materials that identified misconceptions from those with the highest to the lowest proportions was as follows: black principle (77.94%) and the lowest misconception occurred in the heat sub-matter (4.41%).

Abstract

The use of conventional worksheets will likely limit students' ability to explore themselves and their critical and analytical thinking, which can enhance their scientific reasoning and creativity. This situation demands the need for student worksheets linked to technology, art, and mathematics to adapt to the demands of the times. This study aims to determine the effect of project-based learning by analyzing student worksheets based on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) using the eco-print technique on students’ scientific reasoning and creativity. This research is a quasi-experimental study. The research sample is 160 students of a public senior high school in Jakarta, randomly selected and grouped into control and experimental groups, each consisting of 80 students. Data on scientific reasoning were collected using a test, while student creativity was measured with a questionnaire and observation sheet. The data obtained were analyzed using a one-way analysis of covariance at the significance level of 5%. The results show that the application of project-based learning on STEAM-based student worksheets using the eco-print technique significantly affects the students’ achievement of scientific reasoning and creativity. The use of STEAM-based student worksheets with the eco-print technique serves as an innovative learning media to enhance the quality of education, as it can facilitate and increase active student engagement in collaborative projects that integrate various STEAM elements, thereby improving student competencies.
