Abstract

This study was a quasi-experimental research, which aim to know the presence or absence of difference of student?s biology learning outcome between students who taught biology by using cooperative learning model type group investigation with learning model direct instruction SMA Negeri 1 Sungguminasa.  Hypothesis of this research is differences of student?s biology learning outcome between the students who taught using cooperative learning model group investigation with learning model direct instruction. Sample of this research were students of SMA Negeri 1 Sungguhminasa class XI IPA4 as GI an experiment class, which included 47 students, and class XI IPA5 as DI control class, which included 48 students. The research was conducted in 4 times meetings. The measurement cognitive learning outcame was done by giving valuting test in form of multiple choice and essays test. The average of on the cognitif learning outcomes for the experimental class GI was 81.10 and DI class was 75.22. The affective domain of learning the average for the class of experiments GI was 82.00% and DI was 73.50%. Data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. There are the inferential statistical analyzed with the normality test, homogeneity test and hypotheses test. Analysis of the data using a t-test value (Sig. 2-tailed) 0.003 ? ? 0.05 so H0 rejected and H1 accepted with the average on the cognitive learning outcomes. From the research results can be concluded that there are differences in biology learning outcomes between students who are taught using the learning model group investigation with learning model direct instruction SMA Negeri 1 Sungguminasa.

Abstract

Insekta atau serangga adalah hewan beruas yang mempunyai tingkat adapatasi yang sangat tinggi. Tujuan dalam penelitian (Observasi) ini yaitu untuk mengetahui berbagai jenis serangga tanah yang ada di Perkebunan Sokemboi Ronting, Kec. Lamba Leda, Kab. Manggarai Timur. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen lapangan, dimana proses dalam pengambilan data dilakukan menggunakan metode absolute dengan 3 stasiun. Dalam 1 stasiun terdiri dari 3 plot dan setiap plot terdiri dari 3 perangkap jebakan. Adapun metode pengambilan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode Pitfall Trap (perangkap sumuran). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat 145 jumlah individu yang terdiri dari 7 species dan 6 family. Spesies yang ditemukan paling banyak dalam penelitian ini adalah spesies Gryllus vernalis dari famili Gryllidae. Beberapa spesies serangga tanah yang ditemukan umumnya berperan sebagai polinator, dekomposer, predator, parasitoid dan bioindikator.Kata kunci: serangga tanah, pitfall trap, perkebunan sokemboi ronting

Abstract

This study was a quasy experiment that aims to investigate and compare students' cognitive learning outcomes using two different learning model i.e. investigation learning and inquiry learning. The third year students of biology class VIg and VIh were involved in experimental groups, class VIg experienced investigation learning model and class VIh was implementing inquiry learning model. Both classes were taught Anatomy and Human Physiology courses. Data were collected by administrating questionnaire sheets for learning motivation and pretest-postest for cognitive learning result. This result showed that the inquiry learning model improved the motivation and cognitive learning outcomes in one experimental group (Class VIh). It was shown by the mean score was 61.40 for inquiry learning model and 48.40 to the investigation learning model. To summarize this study, inquiry learning model had significant impact in students’ cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

In the world of education, improving the quality of learning both in the mastery of materials and learning methods are always strived. One of the efforts that teachers do in improving the quality of teachers is the preparation of various scenarios of learning activities in the classroom. This study aims to determine the comparison of biological learning outcomes by using cooperative learning model script and conventional learning model. This research was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah 11 Tello Makassar in March until April 2016. The research method used was a Quasy Eksperiment. The research instrument used is the learning result instrument and tested through t-test statistic. The results obtained that t-count value for post-test data in the experimental class of 3.81 while t-table at the level of significance level α 5%, then the value of α designated in table t is 2.00, so obtained t count ≥ t table (3.81 ≥ 2.00 ). This study suggested that cooperative learning scripts can improve students learning outcomes. Keywords: Cooperative Learning script, Conventional Learning, Learning outcomes

Abstract

Bark beetles (Curculionidae: Scolytinae) has important role in the ecosystem, mainly as decomposer. In this research, we studied the diversity and abundance of bark beetles in Gunung Walat Education Forest at Sukabumi, West Java. This area located at an altitude of 500-700m asl with about 349 ha. Bark beetles were collected by pitfall traps in four types of habitat, i.e., agathis forest, pine forest, schima forest, and mixed forest. A total of 11145 individuals belong to 11 species of bark beetles were found, i.e., Poecilips variabilis, Thamnurgides sp., Cryphalus sp1., Cryphalus sp2., Xyleborus morstatti, X. propecaniclatus, X. morigerus, X. nepotulo, X. masearemsis, Xyleborus sp1, and Xyleborus sp2. Highest abundance of bark beetle was found in the schima forest (4175 individuals) and the lowest was found in pine forest (1548 individuals). Diversity of bark beetle was highest in Schima forest (H= 0,36, E= 0,26) and the lowest in Pine forest (H'= 0,27, E= 0,19). The evenness value of bark beetle in four habitat type is very low (E= 0,19 – 0,26). There are two species dominant of bark beetles, i.e P. variabilis and Thamnurgides sp. The highest number of individual bark beetles was found in Schima forest (4175 individuals; 37%) and the lowest in Pine forest (1548 individuals; 14%). The species number of bark beetles was highest in mixed forest (seven species; 41%).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis tumbuhan paku (Pteridophyta) di Kawasan Air Terjun Gunung Mambulilling Kabupaten Mamasa Sulawesi Barat. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni - November 2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dengan teknik pengambilan sampel secara penelusuran (tracking) langsung di Kawasan Air Terjun Gunung Mambulilling. Identifikasi sampel dilakukan di LIPI (Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia). Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan didapatkan jenis tumbuhan paku sebanyak 29 jenis yaitu Asplenium phyllitidis Don., Asplenium caudatum Forst,Diplazium bantamense Bl., Diplazium esculentum Sw.,Cyathea contaminan (Wall.)Copel., Ariostegia hymenophylloides (Bl.) Copel., Histiopteris incisa (Thumb.) J.sm., Hypolepis tenuifolia Bernh., Dipteris conjugata Reinw., Polystichum aculeatum Schott., Dicranopteris linearis (Burm.) Und., Lycopodium cernuum L.Angiopteris evecta Hoffm., Nephrolepis cordifolia Pr., Nephrolepis biserrata (Sw.) Schott., Oleandra neriiformis Cav.,Goniophlebium parsicifolium (Desv.) Abstract

Zingiberaceae merupakan tumbuhan yang banyak dimanfaatkan dalam pengobatan tradisional dan semakin banyak dibudidayakan selama masa pandemi Covid-19. Tumbuhan dalam familia ini memiliki karakter morfologi yang sulit dibedakan, sehingga penting untuk melakukan pengamatan karakterisasi tumbuhan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengamati jenis-jenis tumbuhan dari familia Zingiberaceae yang mulai banyak dibudidayakan di desa Budong-Budong, Kecamatan Topoyo, Kabupaten Mamuju Tengah serta untuk mengamati variasi karakter antara spesies tersebut. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif yakni dengan membandingkan karakter morfologi antara spesies dari familia Zingibercaeae yang dikoleksi dengan menggunakan metode jelajah. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa terdapat dua belas spesies yang tergolong dalam familia Zingibercaeae yang ditemukan di desa Budong-Budong yakni Zingiber montanum, Z. officinale, dan Z. zerumbet, Curcuma longa, C. xanthorrhiza, C. zedoaria, Alpinia purpurata, A. galanga, Etlingera elatior, Hedychium coronarium, Kaempferia galanga, dan, Cheilocostus speciosus. Kedua belas spesies tersebut memiliki beberapa persamaan dan perbedaan karakter morfologi. Persaamaan karakter antara lain dari sistem perakaran, bentuk akar, bentuk batang semu, arah tumbuh, tepi daun, serta bentuk daun. Sedangkan perbedaan karakter dapat dilihat dari permukaan batang semu, ujung daun, pangkal daun, permukaan daun, serta bentuk dan warna rimpang.Kata kunci: Morfologi, Rimpang, Zingiberaceae

Abstract

After around two years of having online learning, students in the universities have to come back to face-to-face learning mode as it was before the pandemic. This setting also applied to the biology education study program of Universitas Sulawesi Barat. The current study investigated the students’ perspective on changing online to face-to-face learning after COVID-19. It is a qualitative descriptive study with nine students as respondents from the classes of 2019, 2020, and 2021. The instrument used was an interview guide consisting of indicators regarding online teaching and learning features, assessment, and interactions that students needed to experience in face-to-face settings but would like to. In addition, students' perceptions of the advantages and disadvantages of the shift from online to offline learning were also assessed. The data analysis was performed in three stages: data reduction, data display, and drawing a conclusion or data verification. The result showed that several things they would like to have as it was during online learning were (1) have electronic materials, online-games-based learning, and more time to complete the assignments, (2) get various types of assessments including via online platforms (3) to have online applications or media to discuss learning materials and submit assignments. (4) In addition, for the advantages, the practicums could be conducted in laboratories, they felt more concentrated during offline classes, and became more confident to apply IT skills during offline settings, while the disadvantages were feeling anxious and fear to interacting during offline class and trouble to listen to lecturers’ class while having masks. Overall, students feel face-to-face learning is way more effective and efficient but suggested blended learning as an interesting mode in the learning and teaching implementation.

Abstract

Indonesia's coastal region is known for its richness and diverse natural resources. However, the region is experiencing a transformation from mangrove ecosystems to the traditional pond cultures. This was happening in West Sulawesi that could damage the ecosystem in the long term, especially for the bird community. This study aims to inventory bird species in the bird community on the coast of Tandung Village, Tinambung District, Polewali Mandar Regency, West Sulawesi Province. In addition, we also study the bird community structure, find out the correlation among the bird communities, and the environmental condition during the inventory. In this study, we used a fixed-radius point count method to record birds. Field guide titled Burung-burung Pulau Paparan Sunda dan Wallacea di Kepulauan Indonesia was used to identify the species of observed birds. The results showed that of the 27 species recorded, there are 5 species with a high relative abundance, such as Egretta garzetta, Himantopus leucocephalus, Actitis hypoleucos, Ardeola speciosa, and Calidris ruficollis. Only H. leucocephalus is identified as a protected bird by the Indonesian government, while Calidris ruficollis is protected internationally as its conservational status (Near Threatened). The diversity index is moderate level, but it is decreasing day by day of observation, followed by the dominance index, evenness, and species richness. A high correlation between the two bird communities with two adjacent days of observation indicates similarity composition of community structure with different temporal scales and similar spatial scales. The map of environmental conditions shows changing weather in the period of observation sequentially from bright sky to cloudy and heavy rain and back to the normal bright sky at the last period of observation. The response of the bird community to the condition was by flying away when the weather is cloudy and rainy so that may decrease the diversity.
