Abstract

Humin is a natural ingredient that is widely available in Indonesia, especially Borneo.  Humin is interact and absorb eosin compound that can cause environmental pollution. The interaction between eosin and humin was set on optimum time dan pH so that the humin adsorption would be optimum. This research measured the adsorption capacity and energy required to adsorp eosin on humin by performing various concentration of eosin. The amount of humin adsorption energy against eosin was 34.136 kJ/mol while the adsorption capacity was1, 611 x 10-6mol/g. This indicated that the type of interaction between humin and eosin was chemical interaction.

Abstract

Edible film is a thin layer that serve as the packaging or upholstery as well as food that can be eaten with a product. It is packaged and can be degraded by nature. Potato starch can be used as raw material in manufacturing edible film, in which the addition of glycerol is needed as a plasticizer that function to improve the elasticity of the edible film. The goal of the research is to know the influence of glycerol concentration variation against the characteristics of edible film of starch potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) the parameters examined in this study i.e the physical test that includes a test of strong thickness, tensile test and present enlargement, test the solubility and organoleptic. To help figure out the data obtained in the real effect or not, is done using the SPSS Analysis Variant 1 direction or one-way ANOVA. Characteristics of edible film from potato starch with addition of glycerol with a concentration of 20%, 30% and 40% (v/v) to the value of the thickness of consecutive 0,058 mm, 0,062 mm and 0,071mm. The value of the tensile strengh i.e 0,75 N/mm2, 0,69 N/mm2 and 0,35 N/mm2. The value obtained by elongation percent 4,96%, 9,04% and 9,51% where as the value of solubility is obtained that is 19%, 21,4% and 34,6%. Application of edible films from potato starch as the packaging on candy jelly can be acceptedas alternative packaging material for food.

Abstract

This research is a kind of experiment research by analyze mineral such as iron essence (Fe) that are needed as a suplement in our body. In this research are used the kelor’s fruits and kelor’s leaf as specimen with the aim to know the iron essence (Fe) that content in the specimen. The content of iron essence (Fe) in specimen are used by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) method. The kelor’s fruits, the average iron essence (Fe) content in A place is 2,50 mg/100 gram specimen, B place is 3,20 mg/100 gram specimen, C place si 3,59 mg/100 gram specimen and D place is 4,51 mg/100 gram specimen. Than the kelor’s leaf, the average iron essence (Fe) content in A place is 5,89 mg/100 gram specimen, B place 5,73 mg/100 gram specimen, C place is 6,02 mg/100 gram specimen and D place is 6,21 mg/100 gram specimen.

Abstract

Methods that have been developed currently for the separation and purification of rare earth elements, REE’s are solvent extraction by through immobilization of an extracting agent in a porous polymeric membrane. This methods beside could increase the transport selectivity, also the amount of carrier was very few. This technique is known as supported liquid membrane, SLM. Research toward transport and separation of REE’s through SLM have been still relatively limited merely to single feed-binary mixture, and one type of carrier. The transport   membrane permeability was obtained in a mixture of REE’s (La,Nd,Gd,Lu) using the carrier TBP : D2EHPA by SLM. In this SLM technique, supporting membrane PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) was soaked in a mixture of TBP carrier (tributilfosfat) as a neutral ligand and D2EHPA (acid-2- etilheksilfosfat) as anionic ligand with a particular concentration ratio in the solvent kerosene as membrane phase. HCl as receiver phase and solution mixture of REE’s as feed phase. Determination of the REE’s total concentration was carried out by UV-Vis spectrophotometry with NAS (sodium alizarin sulfonate) as the colouring agent at pH 4,75 and the solution absorbance was determinated at 534 nm as maximum wavelength. Transport patterns of REE’s on the variation of the concentration of total mixed carrier composition, pH, and concentration  of the receiver phase were done for 300 minutes. The optimum conditions of transport mixture of REE’s (La, Nd, Gd, Lu) were feed phase pH 3,0; carrier TBP: D2EHPA (0,3:0,7) M; and receiver phase HCl 3,0 M. In this condition, the transport membrane permeability in mixture of REE’s was 0,1077 cm.menit-1 with the percent of transport was 95,24%.

Abstract

Abstract: Sand sea cucumber (Holothuria scabra) is one type of marine invertebrates with family Holothuriidae and is a member of Enchinodermata animals. Types of animals have been used as raw  materials in traditional medicine. The aims of this reseach are to isolate the bioactive compounds contained in the ethanol extract of sand sea cucumbers and to know its major bioactivity. This research conducted in several methods namely extraction, fractionation, identification using thin layer chromatography (TLC) and qualitative test to determine secondary metabolites, as well as the characterization by FTIR. Results obtained from the isolation is a pure isolate by weight of 0.0203 grams of yellowish white paste. Purification was performed using three systems eluent as well as FTIR spectroscopy. The results showed that the compounds in pure isolates are alkaloids. Viscous extract and pure isolates subsequently tested its antibacterial test disc diffusion method using bacteria Salmonella thypi and Staphylococcus aureus. The results showed that the extract activity of the bacteria Salmonella thypi and Staphylococcus aureus into the strong category with optimum diameter of clear zone respectively 11.50 mm and 12.30 mm. Keyword: Bioaktive Compound, Disc Diffusion, Isolation, Sand Sea Cucumber (Holothuria scabra).

Abstract

Research on formalin analysis of food ingredients in Palu has been conducted. The purpose of the research is to find out formalin content in some food. The analyzed samples were foods that marketed in Palu, such as salt fish, noodles, mujair fish, and tofu obtained from several places in Palu. The qualitative analysis of formalin done before measured of formalin quantitatively. The data on formalin found by UV-Vis spectrophotometer with the wavelength of 385 nm. Formalin content of salted fish, noodles, Mujair fish, and tofu were 2,005 ± 0,187ppm, 2,183 ±0,231ppm, 1,931 ±0,174 ppm, and 1,957 ±0,254 ppm, respectively.

Abstract

Identification of bacterial isolates local termofilik at hot springs is the first step of a series of studies of the exploration and utilization of indigenous bacteria an area. This research aims to know the bacterial isolate bacteria from the genus termofilik in the hot springs at Soppeng Lejja and know the optimum incubation time and temperature on the growth of bacterial isolates termofilik from hot springs, Soppeng Regency Lejja. The methods used in the study include the creation of media, rejuvenation, the identification of isolates of bacteria. Bacterial identification to genus level based on Bergey's Manual of Determinative Bacteriology are done with different test, namely: gram staining test, oxidation test, fermentation test, carbohydrates test, SIM test, TSIA test, Mr/Vp test,  citrat test and urea test. The results showed that bacterial isolates identified as termofilik in the genus Pseudomonas sp, which is a gram-negative, rod-shaped cells against oxidation test, positive, negative and red metyl test against a test fermentation. indol, motility, citrate, urea and the production of H2S.

Abstract

The use of epichlorohydrin to improve the stability of chitosan adsorbent has been carried out. The purpose of this study was to determine the stability of the chitosan adsorbent after modified into epichlorohydrin cross-linked chitosan and ionic cobalt imprinted adsorbent chitosan cross-linked epichlorohydrin. Adsorbent prepared by homogeneous gel formation of chitosan in acetic acid medium and then modified into epichlorohydrin cross-linked chitosan beads and ionic cobalt imprinted adsorbent chitosan cross-linked epichlorohydrin. Stability of the adsorbent was determined by calculating the percentage of insoluble material after stirring the adsorbent in nitric acid medium at pH 1, 2, and 3 for 12 hours. The results of FTIR spectra show a shift of the absorption band of chitosan were compared with epichlorohydrin cross-linked chitosan and ionic cobalt imprinted adsorbent chitosan cross-linked epichlorohydrin. The use of epichlorohydrin as cross-linked agent may increase the stability of the adsorbent to maintain the percentage of insoluble material by 89% at pH 3 for epichlorohydrin cross-linked chitosan adsorbent and 96% at pH 3 for ionic cobalt imprinted adsorbent chitosan  cross- linked epichlorohydrin.

Abstract

Limitations of the availability of non-renewable energy sources. Cocoa shell waste and sawdust widespread everywhere and can be used as an alternative energy source that is to cultivate and make fuel, one of which briquetting. The composition of the material that is (90: 10 75: 25 and 50: 50). After mixing the briquettes are printed using a printer briquettes. From this study, the best calorific value contained in the ratio of sawdust 90: Water Hyacinth 10 is 6223.20 cal/g, the ratio of sawdust 90: 10 cocoa skin is 5953.72 cal / g and Leather Cocoa 90 : Water Hyacinth 10 ie 6066, 09 cal/g. The best density value in comparison sawdust: cocoa skin (75:25) ie 1.05 kg/cm3. Best values compressive strength in comparison cocoa skin: water hyacinth (50:50) ie 2.32 kg/cm3. Best water content ratio of sawdust : water hyacinth (90 : 10) ie 3. 89% ash content. Value best comparison Leather cocoa : water hyacinth (90 : 10) is 0.66%. Volatile matter best value comparison cocoa skin: water hyacinth (90:10) ie 13.1%. The best comparison value of fixed carbon sawdust: cocoa skin (90 :10) is 62,34 %.

Abstract

The antioxidant activity test of methanol extracts of the leaves nasty shard Strobilanthes crispus has been done. This study aims to test the phytochemical and antioxidant activity of methanol extracts of the leaves nasty shard Strobilanthes crispus. The leaves nasty shard are macerated with methanol for 3x24 hours. Further methanol extract was tested phytochemically and antioxidant activity by DPPH method (1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil). The result of phytochemical test showed that the methanol extract of the leaves nasty shard Strobilanthes crispus contain secondary metabolites of alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins. The result of antioxidant activity test showed that the methanol extract of the leaves nasty shard Strobilanthes crispus have antioxidant activity with IC50 of 100,363 ppm.
