Abstract

This quantitative research seeks to examine the effect of mind mapping on the creative thinking skills of students in class X at SMA Negeri 1 Wajo. This research's population consisted of all X MIPA class students at SMA Negeri 1 Wajo, while 60 students were randomly sampled from two classes. Probability sampling with simple random sampling was used for sampling. The research instrument was an essay-based test of creative thinking skills. The queries were developed based on the aspects of creative thinking to be measured, namely fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration, which Gregory's validity test validated. The prerequisite test consisted of a normality test and a homogeneity test, and the t-test was used to examine the relationship between the mind-mapping method and students' creative thinking skills. The average score of the experimental group was 23.23, which was higher than the average score of the control group, which was 17.77 points. The results of hypothesis testing with the t-test obtained a t-value of 6.057, which was greater than r-table, which was 2.002 at a significant level of 0.05, so it is concluded that there is an effect of learning with the mind mapping method on the creative thinking skills of students of class X on linear motion material at SMA Negeri 1 Wajo. This research contributed encouragement of the use of the mind mapping method on linear motion material in high school physics learning and validated creative thinking skills test instruments on linear motion material.

Abstract

Conceptual change (CC) occurs when students move from incorrect to scientifically accepted ideas. This article presents an overview of 47 international journal articles on the journal index, theoretical framework, purpose, data analysis, and research recommendations published between 2018-2024. This review resulted in five statements: 1) indexation of the journal used by the source of conceptual change studies; 2) the theoretical framework utilized in conceptual change; 3) the objectives used in conceptual change research; 4) data analysis used in research methodology; and 5) recommendations for various studies used by researchers to develop further. Based on this study, the authors recommend future empirical studies related to using a more specific theoretical framework in intervention learning, exploring deeper conceptual changes in the affective and social domains and examining the relationship between the role of metacognitive strategies and conceptual change.

Abstract

This study conducts bibliometric research using the Bibliometrix R-package analysis and VOSviewer to analyse Scopus databases from 1921 to 2024, specifically focusing on physics and households. It aims to determine the number of writings on home physics education in scientific publications, analyse publication trends, identify prolific authors, identify frequently used keywords and subject areas, and identify the countries that make the most contributions to publication. The research study found one article and was the only one published in 1921, entitled "The Evolution of Nerve Muscle Mechanisms" written by Russell S.B. Davies M and Kutner R were the two most productive authors, "radon" became the most widely used author keyword in publications. Physics and astronomy became the topics of the most frequently appearing publications. The U.S. emerged as the largest publisher and the most collaborative among the countries involved in the publication. Moreover, Indonesia has become the fifth-largest publisher in the world. Out of all the study papers, only five addressed home physics education. To encourage researchers, lecturers, and students to publish findings and research results linked to household physics in international scientific journals, it is believed that the findings of this study will be useful to higher education and research institutes.

Abstract

Problem-solving skills are among the key competencies in 21st-century life, yet they are poorly trained in schools. This study aims to produce a direct teaching-oriented temperature and heat worksheet that is feasible to use to improve students' problem-solving skills. The ADDIE design was used in the development of this worksheet. The worksheet was tested on 25 students in Class XI SMA. Data was measured using validation instruments, response questionnaires, and problem-solving tests. The results showed that the developed student worksheet was categorized as very valid, the student's response to using the worksheet was categorized as practical, and the student worksheet was categorized as effective because the N-Gain of problem-solving of 0.56 was categorized as moderate. This means that the developed direct teaching-oriented student worksheet is feasible to improve problem-solving skills. This student worksheet can be an alternative for teachers to equip 21st-century competencies, especially problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the improvement in students' science process skills after applying the problem-based learning model to physics learning. Physics learning at the high school level, namely at Makassar National High School, experiences several deficiencies in the science process skills experienced by students. Choosing a problem-based learning model can support the delivery of material well. This research uses the problem-based learning model to analyze students' science process skills before and after being taught. The type of research used is quasi-experimental research. The population in this study was 32 students. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling with two classes.  The level of science process skills of class X IPA 2 (experimental) students obtained an average score of 73.60 and class X IPA 3 (control) of 42.81. The results of the N-gain test analysis in the experimental class obtained an average value of 0.59 with medium criteria. The control class had an average N-gain value of 0.05 with low criteria, meaning there was an increase in both classes, so it can be concluded that there was a significant influence on students' science process skills after using the problem-based learning model, The research contribution is that the implementation of problem-based learning is very effective for improving physical science process skills.
